I believe SONY will release a firmware update later on to add external HDD support just like they did with PS4
*
Problem is moving between an external hdd to internal took an extremely long time on PS4. My download speed was actually faster. And with transferring, you can’t do anything in your PS4. With downloading, you can still play games.

So if moving a 300GB game from external to internal takes longer than a few minutes, might as well just download it if you’ve a fast internet.

ps4 external is can play game from there? or is like just storage, then need transfer to internal to play? because USB is waaaaaay to slow even u use SSD, dont have that bandwidth.
*
Pretty sure you can’t play any PS5 games from external storage. As many/all ps5 games are designed with the internal SSD in mind.
Perhaps you can do so for PS4 games. You won’t enjoy the faster load times though.

yeah and xbox has ready add on for the expandable storage. PS5 fuk it man, they cannot let u put 2 drive. at least u can have 2 drives working in series, ps5 they give u 800gb, u upgrade aslo buy 1tb only for now more worth money, then u also expand 200gb only, got wat use that 200gb lol.
*
hmm, what u mean? PS5 own SSD is soldered onto the board. And there will be another NVME slot for you to expand storage. Isn't that the case? Unless I understand wrongly

No, they can't for PS5. They need the blazing fast SSD speed to maintain PS5 game performance. The best scenario is if they allow moving game files between SSD and external HDD (but can't play until it's moved back to SSD)

thats y lo.. even the guy up there say release firmware to support, but got lanciao use.. xbox series approach is much more intelligent way to expand useable storage for playing.

Even if it's removable, why u want to remove it? haha

Apart from PS5 own SSD, I thought there should be an expansion bay for another SSD (3rd party but need to be whitelist by Sony)

No, it's a customized NVME SSD using the the M.2 slot, you can swap out that original SSD with your own NVME SSD, similar on PS4 with sata HDDs

unlike PS4 sata HDDs, where you can reuse anywhere else, it's unlikely our PC will recognize the original PS5 NVME SSD due to it's customized firmware

won't there be another M.2 slot?

Is it confirmed there will only be 1 M.2 slot?

Btw. I’m referring to external storage via usb 3.2 on the PS5.
For the additional nvme slot, it might be possible to play ps5 games in it. But you’ll need very high end and specific ssd to play on. I’m guessing it’ll be more expensive than the XBOXSX expansion.

If Xbox got more exciting games, I might consider getting it also haha. Seems promising so far. For casual gamers atleast.

Around $230 vs Xbox $220. Not much difference...

Anyway, will have to wait for official list or announcement by Sony on 3rd party SSD

usb 3.2 (1GB/s or 2GB/s max) also significantly slower compare to the internal storage what. pcie 4.0 also slower lol. so usb wont be a solution, even nvme add on if there is any also they only provide 2 level. enough said, it is not as seamless as how microsoft implement theirs.

later bethesda coming out starfield and elder scrolls 6 will be mind blowing brows.gif brows.gif join carmack say he might will work with id software again. very promising move by microsoft. PS exclusive is getting lesser and less interesting. Good exclusives only releases 1 per generation lol. and i believe ps4 doesnt survive via exclusive, mostly is 3rd party game.

too little news from Sony, dont know what they are hiding, maybe they just could provide answer to what microsoft provide.

Microsoft shopping around buying game studios like buying groceries. Few billion dollars like small change to them.
But I don't think Xbox's strategy is to make exclusive games like Sony. They want to include more permanent games into their game pass. Which is good for consumers.

Sounds logical to me. You buy a game studio, you expect to sell more games. Can't sell that much if you only selling on one console.

yup, microsoft earn money different way. they dont really interested in exclusive, they wan to expand market reach. they did try to penetrate japan market but that is a stubborn market lol. which i believe partly due to japanese nationalism culture la. they will support their own product die die lol.

the more game pass subscriber, the more they earn. thats y u see apple also come out with subscription based, now combine subscription, they don scare to bundle this tat in, they only scare they cannot earn u money only lol.

just like car now is subscription based, they no scare change new car for u every 2-6yrs, they only scare u don wan to use their car only lol.

You don’t have to convince me how much clearer Xbox is in this regard.
I’ve already preordered XBOX SX and will be getting it by end of November.

If reviews are good, I’ll still get a Ps5 though.
Since PS5 would just be for exclusive, 800GB should be enough.
