5) Where can i get the router at a cheap price?

B618 - 22d - CELCOM (Sim-locked). Free with contract plan for 2 years.
B618 - 65d - TM point (Unifi). Pay device RM565.09 (0% GST on 1st June 2018).
Shopee or any online platform. 22d price ranging ~RM400-500.

7) Can it be used for Digi, Maxis, Yes, and Umobile?
The 22d batch from Celcom is sim-locked. You cant use other telco's sim card. Even if your contract has been terminated/finished, there's no guide or ways stated at any celcom official communication or platform or terms and condition on how to unlock the router. You may need to contact them directly on how to unlock this router afterwards, if there's a way.
On the other hand, 65d (Unifi set) is working for all telcos.

8) Latest Firmware (warning. Only tested to be OK with 22d. 65d kindly avoid if you're worried about bricking your modem)

Fine Details on Termination - Celcom and TM Terms and Condition

Celcom
Termination can only be done at Blue Cube.
Policy of 30 days - If you terminate before 30 days, the penalty of RM499+GST will be taken if you dont return the modem. No charge if u return a good working modem.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Contract - Contract 2 years can be terminated by paying penalty using the calculation below.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

With that, eventhough you have a contract for 2 years, you can still terminate with less than RM499 (although you may need to pay monthly subscription tho).

Is it wiser to terminate later than terminate within 30 days to own the router?
Its basically up to you. Most of us, already have other carrier/internet plan. Thus, its wisely to terminate within 30 days compared to paying monthly RM70 eventhough you are paying cheaper termination penalty

Celcom SOS

PDF format (as seen on 25/4/18)
PDF format (as seen on 7/4/18)

Unifi
You can terminate through live chat (recommended). Live Chat Link
The modem may not need to be returned and no penalty.

Can you terminate straight away/same day for Unifi?
Yes you can. RM0.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

No u cant. Starting from 1st August, TM need at least 30 days for termination notice at live chat.
Meanwhile for Celcom set, u can terminate it within 30 days without penalty (returned modem) or reducing balance (after 30 days free period)

U can try claim it back or like Alex said, just pay it.
It was supposed to be free. I do also experience need to pay until I live chat again and provide proof of previous screenshot saying it's free. They waive the charges after that.

Assuming you are using Digi Infinite.
First, your line must be enabled with VoLTE, call CS to enable for you if it's not enabled. Then, make sure your router is 65d TM set. Lastly, set connection to Auto and connect the phone via RJ45 connector.

Not working as to tether, when inserted into phone and hotspoting it just fine. The simcard show registered to network with full bar. But connected clients has no internet access, what a bummer.

install hmanager apps on android phone.

not sure which ver apps u are using is kind of like this
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Lock band is used in cause area network is congested/the certain band cause slow.

try first.
1. Click b3, and apply, monitor rsrp and sinr and do a speedtest
2. Click b7 and apply, monitor rsrp and sinr and do a speedtest
3. click both b3 n b7 apply for 4G+ available area, monitor rsrp and sinr and do a speedtest

Lock band call in/out will not workings..

If dont want to lock band just click back Auto or set via web ui 192.168.8.1 under network selection.

and do locate the modem around the house no matter higher place, lower place, beside of windows see which area is good reading of RSRP n SINR. it does effect speed too.

u can get both. the reason i told 65d compared to 22d is because the celcom set is locked. unless u want ehem which cant be state here.

or else, it just the same for digi.

pnp. just setup the router wifi if u plan to change the wifi ssid/password

Thanks for the reply.

I have two DIGI numbers. Infinite is on my B618 router, my phone is using normal plan. Connected to wifi but cannot download, can surf net though. Once I switched the connection back to my regular number, can download. I wonder what is the problem.

I tried logging in but unable to access. So gave up hope to modify it and have no choice to use as it is, which is running ard 8MB to 10MB, compared to previously of 40MB to 50MB.

Also, i am using Celcom and noticed there are 2 signals, one with 5G and other one is normal.
I clicked on both and both gives the same speed range. May i know why there is 2 signals bandwidth?

Thanks

No need to remember what's in V1, not worth talking anymore. Just move on and bring quality discussion into this thread.

Hi guys. Is anyone using the external antenna with this modem? Does it really improve your connection?

Except your connection is very bad, else its internal antenna is already superior. For my case, without external antenna works better.

The coverage wasn't that bad it just I believe the network in my place too congested. I can only get the advertised speed on early morning. Others than that no chance. Will the antenna help with this?

Probably because it will help to pull signal from other tower.

The common external antenna for Huawei 4G routers is this: https://shopee.com.my/product/48807093/787791738?smtt=0.0.9
Make sure you buy the red box, there's a similar type but packed in blue box which has a lower spec.

I'm new to this B618-22d router.

Will enabling two SSID at 2.4GHz help with speeds for individual devices?

Say SSID 1 is shooting Eastwards 30 metres to clients.
Can I direct / focus the antenna to provide my 2.4GHz device on SSID 2 Westwards from the router?

Sorry if this has been answered.

You can use 2 ssid. But I Don think B618 support wifi signal for us, so it still spread signal omnidirectional

Some tried to unlock it using mod but failed. I need to put BiG warning at front page for those purchased at Celcom (first unlocked batch). Sorry fruitie about this. I think even modding fail to unlock the old unit back to unlock state.

ya. saw the huawei privacy screenshot by some kena locked they are using IMEI and SN.Celcom should only give those with "locked version" one rather than the first batch unlock. And this is a breach of privacy for those who terminate their contract with celcom dy.

Only one reported case by a modder. Possibly the only 65d imei/sn available at celcom list?

So far, no 65d user reporting locked router from the poll conducted at he fb group yet.

Just switch to Celcom and the paperweight will still be usable. It isn't that the modem has been bricked.

Nope. Unsuccessful. Most likely the team need someone much2 more experience in the scene. It's not a simple extraction, change and repack back the packaging. But I have to give them credit to help the community to find way on resolving the issue. The best way now is to force celcom to unlock back the first batch router. Only the law can make it happen now. But they need to act first by filing a case to tribunal pengguna.

Good luck for trying too..pity those who affected.

i think hard to be win against it...

i think TnC is pretty clear ald, the device is subsidi price, even u pay the penalty YES device is your but it's still telco set. they have right to lock it. even first batch or latest batch i dont see celcom changed the TnC from the beginning. The lock device was't not function, just it's only support celcom sim pack icon_idea.gif

the customer can state reason that the feature was not available at beginning and celcom already terminated their contract with no specific statement says celcom has the right to the device or change the feature of the device after giving it to them.

I'm one of those that woke up in the morning and couldn't figure out why I don't have internet. Even went to digi to get a new sim thinking it was some sort of sim card fault. Then only asked in digi forum and fruitie highlighted to me the recent permanent lock. This is not good......waiting patiently for solution otherwise got to start thinking how to get internet again. My place unifi / time / etc all no go. Digi + b618 was a boon.

Sorry if my question sounded noob. Would installing another firmware overcome this permanent lock problem?

At the moment I put in my celcom gold 20gb sim card just for minor browsing. When want to download/stream stuff I use my digi infinite in my old pocket modem huawei e589.

there is at least 1 case problem with 65d TM variant, i dont really know the detail of the case nor do i know if its a legit info, but it was posted by one of the admin of that FB group that some ppl already posted that group conversation in this thread

and another topic, i think one of our forummer is also a member there, and one of the first who shared if he is using the latest firmware, he did discuss some there, but not here probably due to alot of restriction in here, and i wont mention his name either without his permission

yeah no proof and no details, only words and 1 picture showing the model of the modem, agree with you guys on that

but the way i see it is like this, one month or more ago the 22d celcom set was no problem rclxms.gif

its the question of when it will become a problem

is it possible to happen also to the TM set? did ppl think it was possible or gonna happen to celcom set?

do remember the original price of this modem is RM1k+, it's cheap because local telco subsidized it

even the so call "buying" the modem from TM is only at RM565

for me anything is possible, its just business for them, they would do anything they can to protect their "interest"

not sure if you've been following it, but celcom has 2 batches, first batch was unlocked from them and those first unlocked batch got OTA pushed too and became locked even some of them already done with their contract, thats why ppl rage so much mad.gif

there is always still possibility things like this will happen again as long as it is "branded" modem (especially heavily subsidized)

IMO buying a certain "branded" modem isn't a wise preventive measure

the reason why celcom or huawei acted like this most likely due to resellers who sold modded router and celcom also lost from their plan revenue. Huawei may act based on their customer wish, which is celcom.

its not fair for those first batch which was unlocked from beginning being locked by huawei.

Huawei should only limits the force update to the devices with IMEI that came from second batch (locked) version. Not all.

that might due to those irresponsibble outlet staffs sold undertable to customers. mostly return unit i think also gone at celcom center instead of return back to huawei factory instead. icon_idea.gif

at the end router missing on termination note laugh.gif

I tried to access several website like maybank and affin, but was redirected to 192.168.8.1 and ask to update. I then searched online and found this thread. I also looked at the b618 user fb group, and apparently many had updated and locked their 22d.

Yesterday I go ahead and bough a 65D at tmpoint in Kota Bharu. The 22D (mine is celcom set first batch) I pack properly inside box and keep it for now. Anyone interested to buy it? haha

Guys, Have you all pair B618 with any mesh wifi to extend it coverage? My house got dead spot for the signal to reach out. I plan to solve it by any alternative

Mesh better, due to designed to work as a system & (normally) dedicated backhaul. Extender is kind of hit-or-miss, depending on where you want to eliminate the deadspot. Performance also lower than Mesh Wifi.

But if your 4G speed not that high eg below 40mbps, then you can try Wifi Extender.

I am currently using a CAT4 router with digi i150
Kampung area so speed was not great, average 15-20 Mbps, no LTE+

I am wondering will upgrading to B618 bump up my speed? is it worth upgrading?

does 22d support volte?

If your area congested. Speed will based on how congest your area.

very subjective.

1. if using 4G modem indoor rsrp is good ald, then upgrade b618 might not have different. check your hmanager reading.

2. b618-65d pair with 150i is good. indoor signal good vs all the modem in market with 2x2mimo only... b618 is double, 4x4mimo. so in term of stability n speed it should be better than 4G modem.

I guess no definite answer here. I have bought in B618 lately after reading about its performance. But when I do speed test comparing my existing MiFi and B618, I can more or less say that B618 does not outperform my existing MiFi all the times, and there are occasions where the existing MiFi has performed significantly better than B618. The one thing that almost consistent is the upload speed of B618 is most of the times better than my existing MiFi. That's all I can say. So if you really want to upgrade, can consider borrowing B618 from any friend (if available) to test out before making the decision. Just my two cents.

Don't waste your money, and don't think of reselling the B618 in case of not worth cause it's NOT easy to resell.

if your area doesn't have LTE+, then using b618 won't improve any speed much..

22d afaik doesn't have volte for digi, need modded..but latest firmware seems locked all but celcom for 22d.

Just test out by using my phone - Samsung Note 8

I'm currently using Streamyx 8Mbps~~~ Download speed is well for me but I can't suffer the upload speed.
The upload speed only 512Kbps... which is crazy doh.gif

Btw based on my test results, does it considered congested?

That's a good idea. I'm stuck with celcom unit but have another TM unit. Should be able to go into setup and make the celcom unit into bridge or repeater mode. I'll explore when have free time.

The common external antenna for Huawei 4G routers is this: https://shopee.com.my/product/48807093/787791738?smtt=0.0.9
Make sure you buy the red box, there's a similar type but packed in blue box which has a lower spec.

If I were u, I would NOT waste my money for that kind of antenna.
I had one b4 for Huawei e5186, it’s just the same as NO antenna.

ckimsem Thanks for the feedback. I believe in my case the antenna will help as found out that my Huawei modem when put 'outside', the speed usually increase by quite a fair bit. As since, am unable to put the modem there, the antenna will have to do.

Where can I download hmanager for huawei?

Noticed on 1st page of this thread, fadzly posted this :9) Locking band tools:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
APK for android Link
IOS (arabic version, sorry no English version available yet) Link
Huawei B618 Toolbox Download here

However, when tried to use fadzly's link, my handphone warned me not to do so as dangerous.
Can anyone help on where to get the hmanager or should I just overwrite my handphone's advise and download the link on 1st page of this thread?

Sorry, what I meant was getting another kind of antenna, but not this one cause it’s an indoor antenna.
If you’re using B618, its built-in reception could be much better without this antenna.
Since it’s selling for RM40, you had better top up a bit and choose outdoor antenna.

No other solution for now. Warning has been shared but unfortunately many still don't know about it.
Get 65d variant for peace of mind or let it be until a solution is found.

Guys, quick question.

If I were to get a B618-65D at the nearest selected TMPoint, would there always be ready stock in stores?
Or is there a way to pay / book online then pick it up when it's readily available?

Since the nearest TMPoint for me would be around 90+KM, wouldn't wanna waste all that time and effort and come home empty handed.

Thanks

i'm not so surprised, because if i put myself into their shoes, the only time when they really have the opportunity to read this info is when they are on researching stage before they buy their modem OR when they encounter any issue

other than that if they have done their research and convinced to buy the modem and purchased and using it, and then no issue and just peacefully using it everyday for months or year, i don't see any reason why they would hang out at let say that famous FB group or this thread

it's just a misfortune

yeah i was told by my supplier, but they manage to get this low just because they are supplying 10 thousands of school, even if 1 modem per school, that's enough quantity to bargain to unbelievable pricing

i heard stock will get affected because of this project, along with those every celcom permanent locked fiasco

I received the antenna and tested it.
Huawei B618 built-in antenna is more better than the external, wasting money.
While testing on Tenda 4G680, this outdoor antenna could improve the signal from 3bars to full bars, but speed may be more or less the same.

Conclusion is don’t waste money buying any antenna if you’re using Huawei B618.

the device which is the B618-65D will be given for free, so i doubt it's not locked

but we will see, for me its just showing a pattern where they would force lock 65D sooner or later

as always better be safe than sorry

it's not enough, there is a reason why they call it "force update", even tho you turn off auto update etc, auto restart, and auto update from hilink, it will still get updated, UNLESS you know what i wanna say

I went to sarawak around june 2017..

That time 4G coverage is okay..all band 5 only...not fast..but acceptable..

I dont know of unifi broadband(mobile) would use different mechanism compare to unifi mobile postpaid or bebas prepaid

ya,a bit confuse,TM point told me there is no 4G coverage for Sarawak yet, therefore i cannot subcride "4G LTE Wireless Broadband".Also, they mentioned another alternative is "Unifi Mobile",but need to insert the sim card into mobile phone, and with limited tethering quota ..... ?

so,Unifi Mobile using 3G signal ? or 4G LTE Wireless Broadband not using 4G but 4G LTE ?

I can't really remember already but it is something like that--TM staff ever mentioned unifi mobile uses 3G and 4G but the wireless broadband is 4G+ That's why even if your unifi mobile has signal, it doesn't mean your wireless broadband has the signal.
Somebody, pls correct me if I'm wrong

Eventually TNB and SACOFA will open up to all ISPs in Malaysia to offer fibre broadband.

This will pressure TM to follow suit as well with the monopolised failing HSBB network which forces all wholesale buyers to use their active equipment such as routers/ports and BTU.

The model that TNB and SACOFA uses are very different. They only rent dark spare fibre strands to companies willing to become ISPs. So everyone has their own BTU,switches and routers.

Seems like TM is shutting the plan for us to get the B618.
I've been to two appointed TMpoints in Penang and they said that the unit and package is not being offered anymore due to "sudden suspension".

Seems like they also know that we're getting the discounted unit but using other telco's internet subscriptions.

Can anyone clarify or confirm this? Thanks

Hi, I'm one of those with the celcom unit that got blocked. Unifi is finally available at my place and I'm thinking to apply.
Can I use the b618 as the router instead of whenever router provided by unifi? Can b618 be used for fibre broadband? Will it be better, ie better wifi coverage for the house?

Means others ppl cannot subscribe to this plan except streamyx user?
*
Maybe they are testing it out. Not too sure about the details.
I came to that conclusion is because when I asked "So I need to subscribe for Streamyx now in order to get that offer?" She just nodded and smiled.
And the plan is offered through calls? You can't just walk in a say I want to get that plan.

Probably not, since the new "Unifi AIR" still requires the subscriber to purchase a B618-65d outright at the same discounted price, just that the internet package is tied to a 24-month contract.

Exactly, was planning to do the same but they "suspended" the plan until further notice, probably due to the roll out of "Unifi AIR".
A little bit too late.

The Unifi Air plan that’s being proposed will cost users RM79/month and will be offered with unlimited quota on a 24-month contract. There will also be no upfront payments, and users will not have to pay for the LTE device either.

Users are NOT buying the Huawei B618 since there's NO upfront payment needed.
I believe early termination would impose some penalty.

Well, the TM Point representatives at two different locations and TAD told me that the device is sold separately, just that the plan hasn't been fully rolled out thus the sudden suspension of sales.

But who knows, there's no fine details for any of us.

Noob question. On the bottom right of my laptop screen, I can see my internet as Huawei-B618-Axxx.

1) If I were to change the name to something else eg: "newbie", will this affect the modem's ability to still auto decide which band and frequency to choose from. Reason I ask is because on 192.168.8.1 (under wlan basic setting), when I changed the name, only the 1st SSID box shows the new name. The rest still shows as Huawei-B618-Axxx.

2) Also, is Huawei-B618-Axxx (the last 3 numbers the same for all Huawei-B618-65d modem)?

3) Currently my Huawei modem's password is the same as what's printed on the bottom of my Huawei modem. Is it advisable to change or just leave it as it is

How do you do speed tests? Over your phone with the Wi-Fi or the LAN cable?
You really need to calibrate, is your area saturated?
At least you managed to get one.
I wasted a whole day just to try getting it last week and all the TM Point(s) representatives were just ignorant.

Even filed for a MCMC complaint and all they can tell me is my area has no unifi connection. I mean like since when is wireless broadband a fixed fiber connection?

You didt get benefit from CA as your modem single band only.

For my area, band 3 sometime good only mostly gg. So I lock band 7 can 80-100 single band.

So you need band by band test.
So don't believe there have a fix way to get maximum speed.

Bro. With honest call. You test with your current device will be better then buy 618 blindly.
Switching around band and test...
If band speed was OK. Then you can think about change modem otherwise don't.

I see. If you tested on fastest band on modem only get 15mbps download then I Don think worth to upgrade.
Because at my home. I get 15mbps with my Mate 20 Pro with prepaid sim without lock band(and I sure it not locked to fastest)
So I straight buy b618 and switch i150 now constantly get 60+. If network less user condition I can get about 100-120 with one band.

Do you think it's still no good to upgrade? Does 2CA + 4*4 MIMO in B618 might improve at least another 10mbps or more?

My location support 4GLTE-A and decent signal. since it's a jump from 4g(noob) to (4g+) + 2CA + 4*4MIMO?

I am also trying to figure out, since my B618 auto updated and can't be used with digi, I have just applied for unifi (now available in my house area). Instead of wasting money buying a new router / wifi extender / mesh, thinking to try set up B618 either pppoe or use original unifi router and set up B618 as AP.
Was hoping somebody has experience using B618 as fibre router (pppoe). How's the performance vs stock unifi router.

B618 do not have VLAN tagging ability so it cannot dial into TM network.

The WiFi performance of B618 is weaker than TM current DIR-842 so using it as AP is pointless too.

Sell the B618 for around RM500, get a cheap TP-Link Archer A9 which is really good and you probably still got around RM200 to spare. wink.gif

You can sell the DIR-842 for RM50 too.

Thanks blacktubi for the advice!
I saw your tutorial on unifi pppoe setup etc. Will look into Archer A9. Is it powerful enough to cover a 3 storey house?

I got to research how to sell the B618 (celcom set, sim locked). I'm surprised people would still want to buy a locked unit.

I saw your tutorial on unifi pppoe setup etc. Will look into Archer A9. Is it powerful enough to cover a 3 storey house?

I got to research how to sell the B618 (celcom set, sim locked). I'm surprised people would still want to buy a locked unit.

because from what i hear, it can still use other sim that use celcom line like yoodo

Sorry out of knowledge question, and thank for clearing our path

What about the "WAN" port, can I just plug in ethernet from unifi/time/maxis fiber RJ45(on the wall) and get internet access and distribute it via the WiFi(no plan using phone/lan port) can right? as the datasheet of B618 stated

https://pictr.com/images/2019/07/29/5a8kxV.md.png

What is the change between B618 & DIR-842 or other premium router+modem? assuming fiber can get me 200-300Mbps

For a 3 storey house, maybe you can consider a mesh WiFi system for the best WiFi coverage.

The thing with Unifi is it requires VLAN tagging which the B618 do not support.

The major difference between a good router and a cheap one is the Wireless range and performance.

A good router will get you better speed with good stability when you are further from the wireless router.

Ohh so only unifi will be affected only lah.
Afaik if Unifi got coverage = Maxis got I'm going for maxis/time anyway So it will not be a problem with the VLan I guess?

but Yeah I notice everyone is recommending the Asus router brand even at "other country" forum, I guess they are top quality

My house currently using Streamyx 4Mbps (RM140/month). Been asking and waiting for Unifi to be available but nothing. And last week Unifi call and promote this Unifi Air (1 Month Free Trail). RM79/Month and Unlimited.

The speed so far very stable and satisfied

LOL don't think too much 5G is way way far ahead.

need to wait - infrastructure upgrade
a few years for them to be bug-fix, be mature
and wait till them coverage your location

by the time 5G really well spreaded your b618 probably 4-5years old already

Observing 5G network very closely, for the time being it's more suited towards backhaul than providing consumer access.

Just look at Terragraph in Penang, they are using it more to reach high rise buildings as backhaul connection then share the connection throughout the building using existing copper wired technologies such as Gigawire.

In USA, Webpass also provides similar solution to high rise apartments, but the end connection is using regular ethernet switches at every floor connecting to the receiver at the rooftop to distribute internet access.

My point is 5G deployments will be very costly to deploy. Vendors are heavily pushing this technology because it involves lucrative tenders which will amount to billions everywhere in the world. They're lobbying governments to buy into this idea because they would gain access into public funds from our taxes to waste on their utopia idea.

A highly connected world is a prison-like world. That day is not far away just like the idea of smartphones that we have today.

This entire 5G idea is a highly lucrative idea to grab public funds from countries. Indeed a very corrupted corporations behind it.

It's better we proceed with the fiberization plan because fibre technology is getting cheaper and saturated by the day. We have plenty of silica from the ground to make glass wires than to invest heavily in initial unproven wireless technology with billions.

We can do more with a mature and proven technology.

But why tmnet still refuse to implement fiber and even introduce 4G wireless ?
Moreover , charging stmyx price way higher than fiber ?

Can't say streamyx is more expensive now, it's reduced to what RM69? But the price still doesn't justify the lack of fiber penetration within the nation.

Always the same reason(s).
Infrastructure isn't cost effective to be implemented or it takes too long "build".

I guess they went with the easiest way out.
Utilizing the current 4G network to temporarily "patch" the streamyx issue.
Let's just see what they announce for today's #khabarbaik event.

Fiber need a lot of money. Paperwork, digging road, cable then one taman not many will subscribe fiber.
TM buying P1 network to use as wireless ISP. P1 own 30MHz of 2300MHz and 20MHz of 2600MHz spectrum.
Step 1 shutdown dying P1 wimax to free up 2300Mhz spectrum.. Step 2 Unifi Air @ wireless Unifi. Step 3 profit

sorry if this question is asked before in the last version but seems like no one talk about it in this V2 thread.

In a good coverage area, are you able to use the modem+mobile network to play FPS games like Battlefield, Apex Legend, etc.?

In 2 months time, I will be moving to a new housing area which Unifi (land line) still not available yet. So thought of applying for Celcom Home Wifi at the time being while waiting for Unifi. Main usage is for fps gaming (for 2 computers) and video streaming. Not so much on torrent or download.

Thank you.

My B618s-22d from Celcom was working with Yoodo previously.

Last month, the unit stopped working. WebUI showed 'Illegal SIM'.

I read somewhere that Celcom pushed some update to the router some time back and even Yoodo SIM no longer supported.

How to unlock it?

Ok problem settled.
Hard reset 3 times then only it worked and the modem IP changed itself to 192.168.9.1 instead of the default 192.168.8.1

Thank you.
*
ping should be hover around 70-90ms .. for digi, and for celcom almost the same. no problem playing overwatch, apex, pubg here.
but then still depend on your area.

You mean Unifi AIR?
You need to be a Streamyx user for now, public offerings are still unsure? Last I'd heard is that they would prioritize Streamyx users that are eligible first, but Live Chat has told me otherwise, which is sketchy.

@RM79 if you're a Streamyx user and within the area of coverage, TM representatives will call you up to offer the plan.
@RM129 if you're not a subscriber but within the area of coverage.

Plans are tied to a 24 month contract.

Hi Sifu,

planning to get 1 unit of B618-22d unlocked to replace my old MR200. A few questions:

1. Can I setup router to access SMS feature remotely? Remote Access Feature

2. Can I put the router in horizontal position and will it affect the signal strength?

If unifi air is using B618-65d , in what SN number I can confirm it unlock unit ?
second , can I block any auto updates from B618 ? later they lock back.
If the location have Unifi Air and I plan to bring to other location , does it lock on certain location ?
Lets say state to other state ?

It should be just based on their TDD coverage.
So if there's coverage it should work.

Just snap in your Digi card then and see if it's accepted or not?
Or what's your modem variant?

Don't think so?
By far B618 is still far superior.

It's literally impossible to get it from TM anymore? Local sets are being snatched up quickly even on both e-commerce sites.

Unless you're looking for the 22d variant?

I do wonder how many B618 users actually bring their units out? Making it like portable mobile Wi-Fi.

Since there are step up USB cables that are able to up the 5V to 12V sold on various platforms.

All we need to do is to just plug it into a powerbank with 5V output. sweat.gif

I don't bring out unless I go back my hometown during major festivals which has no Internet as nobody lives there most of the time. I will bring back the whole thing and put in luggage bag. laugh.gif

I don't think it's convenient to bring everywhere la. If you want a good portable MiFi, can consider Netgear M1. I had that earlier and very good for travelling.

Hmm. Who said it's 30/10 for Infinite 150? I can get 150Mbps or more on my Infinite 150.

Upload speed for Digi, highest is around 50Mbps, I got around 45Mbps. Like I said, speed is very area dependant. Everyone's speed will be differed.

Not sure if there's any quota, I guess no.

There's a speed cap for that 8 ringgit add on but only after 20GB. After that speed is capped.

I think Digi RM 1/hour is different from Digi RM 8/day. I could be wrong but based on others' experience as I have not tried before.

Digi i150 + B618 at my new area have very good result. Test speed = 150mbps. hope it will maintain the speed.. biggrin.gif i forget to screen capture, later will share.
*
wow , 150mpbs .What about upload ?
QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 20 2019, 09:05 AM)
Upload speed for Digi, highest is around 50Mbps, I got around 45Mbps. Like I said, speed is very area dependant. Everyone's speed will be differed.

Not sure if there's any quota, I guess no.
*
Now I can confirm the max speed is around 50Mbps for digi , the full speed on RM8 daily will be the same. I guess.
Before than I need to get a RM8 subscription and test at my area.

QUOTE(dark_axl21 @ Aug 20 2019, 09:57 AM)
There's a speed cap for that 8 ringgit add on but only after 20GB. After that speed is capped.
Suitable for testing if you have doubts for your area as suggested by Fruitie.
*
Download ? or upload or both ? yep test first before buying but non of mobile phone having 4G+ so i can't get a full speed 50mbps.

Both upload and download speeds were capped at 0.5 Mbps after 20GBs I think. Even with 4G+, band locked with HManager.

But if you're just testing it for coverage and speeds it should be fine. Don't think we can finish that all with just speedtests right?

Yea. My ping is high till over meter...
I think my area tower is ancient. I even can see the rust up there.
Mean the equipment already up there for years and nobody touch them in recent weeks or months.

I still accept the high ping. If me wanna play online(which less likely) I switch to 8m streamyx.

Also I think 5g will came to my area faster then Fibre do lol.....

E-commerce sites still have stock, but ever since TM plugged the "loophole" the prices seems to be higher than before for the 65d variant.
Do try your luck if you're interested in getting one and joining the family! haha

May I know in the market? Why people sell for B618 22d locked and I'm mod model?

Since if u sign Celcom package then they give you router, why still have people buy router from these seller?

Anyone can tell me why?

There are some seller just sell illegal modem. (steal by tricks)
illegal mean the modem they got are free of charge. (by registering the plan with celcom got free modem with 2 years contract)
They use random someone IC to register the plan (Home Wifi)
Then they sell the modem.

The price range between RM180 - RM 400 for celcom locked version. you can find everywhere online include lazada, shopee, corousell, mudah etc.

When it come to time, the victim( Who name / IC used by scammer to register the celcom plan), will need to pay the bill, termination fee and the cost of modem.

Not sure if its true.

But some saying it was sold backdoor.

Internal staff sold to them.

But if u can see those entered tender, the cosy of the modem was rm150 per device.

Therefore, the device is already cheap at the beginning

1. Using someone IC to get free modem then sell it.
2. Backdoor buying from Celcom staff.

The price Rm180 is bidding price from telco for school internet tender. The huawei modem price sell by Huawei is about 700%
- 900% higher than the actual cost. You can calculate yourself. Just like iPhone, you pay rm2000 for the manufacturer cost of rm200. That is how business run.

So, I'm not surprised when telco bidding for school internet project, the cost of Huawei b618 is about rm180 while the international market prices is about RM600- RM1200 for this modem.

But for Celcom locked b618-22d modem, there is something wrong if you buy from third party otherwise personal seller sell it after the contract end or after the penalty paid. What you can see people sell Celcom set everywhere without fears.

I play PUBG. My U Mobile has good ping, but suffer from non-stop upload packet loss of 5-15%. My Celcom has 0 packet loss though. I think it's just crappy U Mobile line.

Any guides or tips on what external antennas to get?
Plan to get a top notched one with decent pricing if there's any.
Links to products are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
