ckimsem Thanks for the feedback. I believe in my case the antenna will help as found out that my Huawei modem when put 'outside', the speed usually increase by quite a fair bit. As since, am unable to put the modem there, the antenna will have to do.

However, when tried to use fadzly's link, my handphone warned me not to do so as dangerous.
Can anyone help on where to get the hmanager or should I just overwrite my handphone's advise and download the link on 1st page of this thread?

Have benefited from this thread. I actually bought a modem earlier before knowing about B618 but because later on on learning of the benefits of B618, bought B618 and have no regrets. Am sure there are others like me and we thank you all who have helped contributed to this and other thread

So for those that are scared TM might lock your Huawei modem or those intending to buy the modem, here's your chance to grab it.

saitong09 Disabling the auto update doesn't work as Huawei can force update. Anyway, I already have the modem. Just putting it out there for those who are thinking of having it. But somebody did mention that the item being sold 'could be from TM'. So whoever who is thinking of buying that, buy at your own risk

I can't really remember already but it is something like that--TM staff ever mentioned unifi mobile uses 3G and 4G but the wireless broadband is 4G+ That's why even if your unifi mobile has signal, it doesn't mean your wireless broadband has the signal.

Maybe its people who subscribed for Streamyx, they can now change to Unifi air? But don't make sense either right as Unifi air cheaper than Streamyx.

Noob question. On the bottom right of my laptop screen, I can see my internet as Huawei-B618-Axxx.

1) If I were to change the name to something else eg: "newbie", will this affect the modem's ability to still auto decide which band and frequency to choose from. Reason I ask is because on 192.168.8.1 (under wlan basic setting), when I changed the name, only the 1st SSID box shows the new name. The rest still shows as Huawei-B618-Axxx.

2) Also, is Huawei-B618-Axxx (the last 3 numbers the same for all Huawei-B618-65d modem)?

3) Currently my Huawei modem's password is the same as what's printed on the bottom of my Huawei modem. Is it advisable to change or just leave it as it is

Xaser_3You mean even when we do not disable auto-update for 65d unlocked, still cannot upgrade to v81? If so, then 65d unlocked should be safe right, since its only v81 that can cause Unifi to lock the modem? [FYI, I got my 65d from Unifi (just before Unifi introduced its unifi air). Tried to use unifi with their 65d but the signal was so crappy that I had to cancel unifi but got to keep the modem as already paid for the modem upfront]

I had disabled my auto update for quite some time already but just decided to disabled all 3 updates (including critical update) after reading the posts here.
