b618s-65d variant frm TM no problem
unlock + mod f/w ver 18 got no prob

there is at least 1 case problem with 65d TM variant, i dont really know the detail of the case nor do i know if its a legit info, but it was posted by one of the admin of that FB group that some ppl already posted that group conversation in this thread

and another topic, i think one of our forummer is also a member there, and one of the first who shared if he is using the latest firmware, he did discuss some there, but not here probably due to alot of restriction in here, and i wont mention his name either without his permission

but these screenshots are his

QUOTE(AmeiN @ Jun 7 2019, 03:38 PM)
Correct. Im using 65d, no problem.. not sure got latest update or not. didnt try..haha

Most likely 8x carrier lock update only targeting 22d unit with Celcom IMEI
*
yeah no proof and no details, only words and 1 picture showing the model of the modem, agree with you guys on that

but the way i see it is like this, one month or more ago the 22d celcom set was no problem rclxms.gif

its the question of when it will become a problem

is it possible to happen also to the TM set? did ppl think it was possible or gonna happen to celcom set?

do remember the original price of this modem is RM1k+, it's cheap because local telco subsidized it

even the so call "buying" the modem from TM is only at RM565

for me anything is possible, its just business for them, they would do anything they can to protect their "interest"

original TM 65d f/w no sim lock like celcom
TM ; must paid full price RM656 + unifi before boleh guna, no contract like celcom (2 yrs) free device
*
not sure if you've been following it, but celcom has 2 batches, first batch was unlocked from them and those first unlocked batch got OTA pushed too and became locked even some of them already done with their contract, thats why ppl rage so much mad.gif

there is always still possibility things like this will happen again as long as it is "branded" modem (especially heavily subsidized)

IMO buying a certain "branded" modem isn't a wise preventive measure

i'm not so surprised, because if i put myself into their shoes, the only time when they really have the opportunity to read this info is when they are on researching stage before they buy their modem OR when they encounter any issue

other than that if they have done their research and convinced to buy the modem and purchased and using it, and then no issue and just peacefully using it everyday for months or year, i don't see any reason why they would hang out at let say that famous FB group or this thread

it's just a misfortune

yeah i was told by my supplier, but they manage to get this low just because they are supplying 10 thousands of school, even if 1 modem per school, that's enough quantity to bargain to unbelievable pricing

i heard stock will get affected because of this project, along with those every celcom permanent locked fiasco

well i hope it's not true

the device which is the B618-65D will be given for free, so i doubt it's not locked

but we will see, for me its just showing a pattern where they would force lock 65D sooner or later

as always better be safe than sorry

it's not enough, there is a reason why they call it "force update", even tho you turn off auto update etc, auto restart, and auto update from hilink, it will still get updated, UNLESS you know what i wanna say

if I have
Infiniti Digi 150

If I'm using mobile hotspot with 20Mbps already.

depends on alot of what exactly is your current situation without it

it can improve from almost nothing to a big improvement that separate being usable and not usable

B618-22d coupled with both Digi i150 vs Umobile P99 (trial) in my area.

Test condition:
1. i always use Yes 4G KL server location (there is one that i forgot to change, highlighted in the pic)
2. test is at the same time (tried to switch the simcard as soon as 1 test is done, so minimum time gap)
3. location of the modem is exactly the same
4. no extra load in network during the test (closely monitored in RESMON)
5. both are on 4G+ (LTE-A)

Result of the test:

- apart from what you can see from the pictures, Umobile does limit the speed of Youtube, from my test it was roaming around 1.5mbps only watching 1080p60, while Digi don't (hit above 30mbps)
do note that there is no problem of buffering, but you can tell your video won't start as fast as when using Digi, and time skipping to certain time in the video will make you wait few seconds longer too.

- ping to google server (auto) hit the lowest at 15ms with Digi while Umobile at 17ms
ping to Apex Legends SG server hit the lowest at 24ms on Umobile (averaging at 34ms+-) while 35ms on Digi (averaging 40to50ish ms)

- upload speed in most cases is always faster in Umobile, this is personally big deal for me because i do stream on Twitch (1080p60)

- there is always occasional RTO between 5:30PM to 10PM on Umobile, which is not a problem for normal web activities such as watching Youtube or Twitch or browsing, BUT a BIG PROBLEM for online gaming (this was only tested for 2 days on Saturday and Sunday, yet to test on weekdays)

- casual browsing of "localized" content (or anything with good CDN) such as Facebook or even LYN feels alot snappier in Umobile than in Digi for some reason

so far I've tested Celcom, Digi, Umobile in my area using B618-22d, Celcom is still the best (cons is expensive due to quota system or the hourly system), tested Maxis only on the phone which gave me really high result (130mbps+), i know by using b618 i might get higher, but not really interested to pursue further, just want to focus on the unlimited / cheap category, can't wait to test YES4G (having difficulty to find a shop that sells the simcard close to my place) and also Unifi Air (which TM point dont sell, only TM Center, but TM Center close on weekends, which is a problem for me)

Feel free to PM me to ask anything related to my test icon_rolleyes.gif

Huawei B618s-22d:
- 4G LTE Band 1/3/7/8/20/38 (FDD 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz & TDD 2600MHz)
- DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS: Band 1/8 2100MHz/900MHz
- EDGE/GPRS/GSM: Band 2/3/5/8 1900MHz/1800MHz/850MHz/900MHz

Huawei B618s-65d:
- 4G LTE Band 1/3/5/7/8/28 (FDD 700/850/900/1800/2100/2600MHz & TDD 2300MHz)
- DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS:Band 1/5/8 2100MHz/900MHz/850MHz
- EDGE/GPRS/GSM:Band 2/3/5/8 1900MHz/1800MHz/850MHz/900MHz

The difference is that it has more 2CA for DiGi Infinite. B3 + B7 still useable on the 22d
*
more 2CA for Digi Inifnite, which one? sorry i don't get you

No worries. Meaning 2 more carrier aggregation, B3+B20 and B7+B20
*
as far as i know Digi or any other Malaysian telco don't use CA band that you mentioned, they only use B3+B7,
personally tested on Digi Infinite, Celcom Ultra Hour Pass, Umobile P99, with both B618-22D and B618-65D, and i have never came across to such info in my time of researching this specific topic when i get so involved several months ago, so please correct me if i'm wrong

and that's why it made me confused when you said "This also makes sense getting the cheaper modded 22D model but if you are using for certain telco like DiGi Infinite, might not get the full capability compared to 65D"

and it also contradict with your own statement since 22D has the B20 not the 65D

QUOTE(abcn1n @ Oct 8 2019, 10:21 PM)
Xaser_3You mean even when we do not disable auto-update for 65d unlocked, still cannot upgrade to v81? If so, then 65d unlocked should be safe right, since its only v81 that can cause Unifi to lock the modem? [FYI, I got my 65d from Unifi (just before Unifi introduced its unifi air). Tried to use unifi with their 65d but the signal was so crappy that I had to cancel unifi but got to keep the modem as already paid for the modem upfront]

I had disabled my auto update for quite some time already but just decided to disabled all 3 updates (including critical update) after reading the posts here.
*
just as many have mentioned many times before, both 22d and 65d in Malaysian market are MOST LIKELY telco set (means they were imported and brought to the country by telco, IMEI and S/N registered by telco), there is still possibility for telco to push an OTA (over the air) update that will make the modem locked to only their network (sim lock), it's been done by celcom as a proof, so whether TM will do the same or not it doesn't matter because it's just a guessing game, but the fact remains the same, it is still possible as long as the modem still have their identification (IMEI for the most part) and connected to the internet

from there we can already know how to prevent that, in most case modded modem would have their IMEI changed, so no more forced OTA possible by the telco, to add more into the related topic, some modder would also disable the ability to manual update, so when user click that "check for update" button, the modem won't do that and will just say it's up to date, so there your modem is protected from both end.

Apologies as it was my bad on the confusion regarding the bands mixed up. What I wanted to say was that the stock 22D doesn't support VoLTE for DiGi, compared to the 65D out of the box, unless it's modded. Without VoLTE, the network drops to 3G if you are using the phone with the modem when making calls. Thank you for pointing out the mistake on my part.
*
all good, no worries i just want to make sure i've got all the accurate info, as others would appreciate that too

QUOTE(alexchew_2020 @ Oct 9 2019, 10:32 AM)
YES, is true but. i dont think there still stock firmware work with unlock n can put others sim.  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

i seing many is being push update to v81 so it' become telco lock.

22d stock does have issue on Volte/calling service where receiver side cant hear the dailer sound clearly.
22d stock firmware also got 4G+ issue, where when idle it will become 4g only, and when use it will jump back 4G+ and might not jump back to 4G+  doh.gif

but it's solved with custom firmware.

22d n 65 Volte for digi just work like charm  thumbup.gif
*
this is generally true and also one big proof if these are only software side issue, actually in one of the mod firmware version it's also having the 4G+ drop which i've mentioned before to you at the other thread

so to put that in perspective, the only difference between 22d and 65d are band selections and for me personally 65d only win in favor of using unifi simcards, which are band 5 for unifi mobile, and band 5, 38, 40 for unifi air (where 22d has the band 38 only and 65d has both 5 and 40)

thx for the screenshot, i dont think anyone was having trust issue, i tracked back the first post who actually responded to your post was saying he was shocked if there is b20 and asked for some screenshot, but then you told him to assume there is none if he doesn't believe you, not really sure if thats the right mentality in the forum where sharing is foundation of it, for example i can just tell now if i'm connecting to digi with band 69, if you dont believe me then its your problem and thats it. see how it looks like doh.gif

each hmanager have different settings, like the latest mod version of hmanager, it looks nice and all, but it is unable to lock both b3+b7 together
