Hi guys,

I am an Aego M owner, bought it about a year ago, i think it is really nice, good soundstage, depth, imaging when paired with quality DAC. But i do get the same frustration, the high are to me slightly bright and can sound fatigue at times.

I've paired my Aego M with a Citypulse DAC using BB PCM 1796 via a Trends Audio USB - S/PDIF converter through USB ASIO and Foobar. The results not to say really Hi-Fi, but its good for entry level.

Always wanted to get a bookshelf speaker, hoping that it would provide more natural bass as compared to a 2.1 system. Had my eyes on the ESI nEar for quite some time until i came across this Edifier s2K today. Anyway, i wanted to get a set of 2.0 just for music and leave my Aego M for multi purpose........wanted to know if the s2k is any better in terms of sonic quality...... i will only use it for music, generaly vocals, jazz etc. Cause there will be no point for me getting it if it is more or less on par with the Aego.

I don't mind bringing my systems for the benchmark test.....haha.........but you'll have to wait.........i am still in the UK....coming back next month......

Waiting to hear from the results of the test you all doing soon...... thumbup.gif

S2000 is on par with AEGO M. and IMHO, nEAR > AEGO M > S2000
however, nEAR is studio speaker, it's very detail, and balance. AEGO M has more fun. S2000 is boring flat.
anyway
if the gathering in yuheng house is a go, i might bring a floorstander (Made in denmark, other info secret) , coolerthings brings bookshelve (germany brand, made in germany. =P other info secret) , and if possible akabane Dr.jacker will bring old model of nEAR to the gathering. while yuheng has AEGO M.

I have been following the news of S2000/V for a very long time.

If the current highest end S2000/V still using the cheapo NE5532, as stated in the links below, i wonder how far Edifier can go and what Phil Jones doing in tuning the sound of this speaker.

Instead of criticising the component used, why dont you go and get a audition in Edifier showroom. Despite the component used, its definately a sound system worth getting not because it was designed or possess a Phil Jones signature on it, but mainly because of the quality it possess. I myself have no idea how great or famous Phil Jones are. I went for an audition and was amazed. It offers something different than most MM speaker out there including Aego2/M.

Its okay if you went for a session and doesnt like it. At least you know what it can offers. Dont come here criticising something you never heard b4.

How can u so sure I never heard b4. I went to the showroom twice just to hear the sound of S2000 when it arrived at the showroom. I’m also a user of Edifier products and I’m just expecting more from Edifier high-end product. True, the S2000 does amazed me, but the more that I find out, it is the components that limit the true performance of the speaker. I can understand this may due to the manufacturing cost or whatever, however since it is targeting the high-end market, a little (just a little) better component won’t cost an arm or a leg.

I know how great the Phil Jones is.

Although I read from somewhere that Edifier will come out with different version of S2000 to suit different people taste, but until now i don't see any further info.

So, I can safely assume all commercial S2000 that available are having the same circuit that using NE5532 as op-amp.

BTW, the Phil Jones Bass website don't even mention a word about S2000.
*
speaker system ≠ op-amp ≠ NE5532
hmm.gif the tweeter, the coil, the cabinet, the design, the temperature, the price, the functions, the whole system matter. anyway, good critic on the op-amp. cool2.gif
