6 JR Passes for you to choose from - http://www.japanrailpass.net/en/

Thank you. But after did some research, JR pass really do not benefit me that much.

To me hakone is a bit of disappointing. Lake Kawaguciko on the other hand is way better compare to hakone, but transportation is a must else you will be spending lots of time waiting for bus
*
I think I prefer Lake Kawaguciko as well. Will go Kawaguciko this time.

I have no idea what sort of promotion Klook has for SUICA... coz as far as I know it's like Touch N Go. You reload and tap tap tap to use. Gives you more convenience of using card than to buy ticket at each stop.

To get from Tokyo to Osaka or the other way: bus, train, domestic flight or drive down laugh.gif
*
Yea, got SUICA card from JTB already. Also booked bullet train ticket to Osaka.

Need help/ advice on compatible Japan SIM for Xiaomi Pocophone F1 (Global version) & Redmi Note 7 (Global version).

I called up Hello1010 and asked why a remark saying "XIaomi phone <RM1000 and bought before 2018 not support). CS answered "band" incompatible but she is not 100% sure.

The Japan telco is SOFTBANK.

Any RN7/ Pocophone users please share your experience. Thank you

many here have said that this subway pass isn't worth it because u need to use like over 3 times in order for it to break even
and it doesn't even cover all the line in tokyo
so it's very hard to break even or make it worth it
*
for this i think is better you check where you wanna go within that day with google map and see the route.

for my case, i also thought that subway pass is a waste, but after i re-check my entire itinerary again, apparently i'll use more than 500yen a day for transportation (which better to purchase 3-day subway pass for 1500yen for 3 days)

you can see my method here, upon listing down the locations and how to go to each locations, i roughly estimated my travelling expenses (for estimation and budgetting purpose): Tokyo Trip Itinerary 2019 - GDrive

- check Softbank 4G frequency
- check your phone supported frequency
- phone min. need 3G+4G dual active if u still want ur M'sia number active. 3G for M'sia sim, 4G for Jpn sim.
- Jpn no 2G service
- many old phone cannot support 3G+4G or 4G+4G dual active, if only support 2G+3G/4G then u only can choose either 1 sim which u need most.

Do some simple research, u will get ur answer.

we all use more than that in a day for sure
but the thing here is, that pass only covers 2 line out of the multiple lines in tokyo
which is why for many of us, it's not worth it

Actually, I found these info already (and thought that both phones should work), just not sure why the hello1010 CS discourage me to buy their Japan prepaid SIM cards

Here are some info I found before I post my last question

GSM B2/3/5/8
WCDMA B1/2/4/5/8

Some CS don't have the knowledge/time to answer the question, or some might just lazy to explain so much.

But you exchange a bit and top up BigPay card and use it for shopping. This way you don't have to carry too much cash.

In my last Japan trip, BigPay rate is much better than any currency exchangers in Mid Valley.
*
BigPay is widely used in Japan? Or Cash is still better? Will be traveling this August.

This trip we plan to get Hokuriku Arch Pass so its more convenience for us to travel all the way to Tokyo and exploring the towns in between.

Mainly i have a few questions,
1) Should i just station myself at Osaka for 4 nights and travel back and forth to Kyoto or move to spend 1-2 nights in Kyoto at local Ryokans and move forward.
2) I plan to visit the Tateyama Alpine Route, is Toyama the best place to stop for a night stay? If yes, do i visit the route first only check in or check in and nx day only do the route or stay 2 nights straight. Cos im worried about the luggages.
3) Is it good to spend at least 2 nights along the Arch so that it does not be too hurry (Stay either at Kanazawa, Toyama or Nagano or anywhere else open for suggestions Thanks)
4) Is it worth to visit Shirakawago during this time as almost entering Summer
5) Which is best day to activate my 7 days Arch pass? Is it on Day 3 when i plan to go to Nara or Day 2 since its 7 days i can only put it in between, for airport transfer i have to purchase separately.

Thank you Thank you!!

Hi to all Sifus, really highly appreciate 90 degrees bow please spend some time with me to plan my itinerary. Really have no time to plan as taking care of my infant twin babies day and night...this will be my first trip away from them together with my husband. osaka to kyoto is just about 30 mins. if moving around with luggage is a problem, station in osaka and go kyoto back and forth just for that 2 nights wouldn't be much problem
2) I plan to visit the Tateyama Alpine Route, is Toyama the best place to stop for a night stay? If yes, do i visit the route first only check in or check in and nx day only do the route or stay 2 nights straight. Cos im worried about the luggages.
either Toyama or Nagano. Or at the top of the alpine route if you have higher budget biggrin.gif
first, find somewhere you can store or deliver your luggage

3) Is it good to spend at least 2 nights along the Arch so that it does not be too hurry (Stay either at Kanazawa, Toyama or Nagano or anywhere else open for suggestions Thanks)
definitely to stay a night somewhere
4) Is it worth to visit Shirakawago during this time as almost entering Summer
yes

Day 3. consider that you can utilize it for longer shinkasen journey (go from osaka and return to tokyo)

Hi all sifu,

I'm going to Osaka in mid July for concert and this is my first time travelling to Osaka alone. I have some questions as below with my itinerary

11th - arrival 6am, free and easy
12th - free and easy
13th & 14th - concert day
15th - back to malaysia

1) is there any recommended stay near Osakajo hall? I heard airbnb is prohibited in Japan?
2) aware there are lots subway pass but since my stay is short, is it good for me to get the pass to move around in Osaka? I'm planning to visit Kyoto since it is near and short travel time.
3) any website or apps recommendation for train map? It is much more complicated compared to korea imo
4) is language barrier will make my trip difficult? example asking for directions etc
*
1) no comment where to stay, but airbnb is allowed. its just tat its not as cheap as before.
2) cant say since dun really know where u plan to go.
3) just use google map. it will tell u which train to take, which platform to go.
4) famous place will have english text written. if u know chinese, famous area like Dotonbori, the helper will speak mandarin to u.

appreciate your reply

2) cant recommend any pass, Osaka to Kobe costs around 410yen per trip, to Kyoto around 560yen per trip.
Nara abit expensive tho 800yen. but i dunno if its justify to buy pass for it.
Kintetsu 5 day Rail pass cost around 3600 yen but dont cover Kobe (iinm). u can try calculate where u wan to go n see if it worth to get it.

Less than 3 days till my trip to Nagoya, Toyama and Alpine Route region. Purchase all bus tickets I could for this trip. And be ready to sleep and wake up early every day until the last two days in Nagoya. Hopefully the weather in Alpine Route is fine....

1. airbnb is legal in japan as long as it has a license(will mention inside the airbnb website)
2. not sure, too many for osaka/kyoto
3. google maps or hyperdia.com for train, it will tell u which platform and what time it will depart
4. if u have google maps, it's much easier to navigate, it will direct to to 3rd floor if that shop is located at 3rd floor

Which concert event you're going for on 13th & 14th in Osaka?

Can compare hostel prices if you're traveling solo, sometimes can save a lot, around RM50 per night.

Hello dear forumers, I am currently planning a 9D8N trip from Christmas Eve until New Year end of this year. I wanted to seek opinion if the itinerary is viable.

** If I buy whole Japan Rail Pass, for the places I am going to, can it be used? Or I will have to buy other metro line's ticket as well?
** Is a samurai WIFI egg enough for 4 person throughout the trip and Japan?
**Is the flow of the trip ok? Anywhere seems too packed/ impossible?
**For accomodation, is it wise to just stay at one place and use the metro to get around? Tokyo (2 Nights) Osaka (4 nights) and Hokkaido (2 nights)

Would Like to have some opinion from fellow forumers, greatly appreciate any feedbacks, THANKS! cheers.gif
