Sorry.. I actually meant that i will skip some places in Tokyo because we traveled there before.
One more is that we have never experienced snowing andski-ing before so we are really looking forward for the skiing experience.. Hence Nagano.. If Hokkaido is not an option ..

I'd do 3 nights in a nagano area ski resort. Travel from Tokyo to nagano the previous afternoon then stay overnight so that you can be up early to settle all the lessons, gear rental etc. Ski the whole day at least.

Next day you can do another full day OR do half day ski and take the 2nd half to visit the snow monkeys.

I'm going to Osaka this Sunday for 4 days. So just wanna get some recommendations on travel/pocket wifi. So far I've narrowed down to 2 providers that seems reliable (please correct me if I'm wrong):

1. Roaming Man MY
2. Travel Recommends

For a KL/PJ/Subang person, which is easier to pick up by this Friday (17 May)? Besides those 2, are there any other reliable providers out there? I noticed there are some but has terrible reviews.

For Japan, I've used Travel Recommends twice in Osaka/Kyoto and Hokkaido. Pickup and return at KLIA/KLIA2. Just go a bit earlier like 30 minutes, while check-in/drop luggage, another person goto collect.

No issue with coverage, I went all the way to Kinosaki-onsen and Shaari/Shiretoko all got coverage. Except some mountain roads in between hills/tunnel in Hokkaido.

No issue with battery also, but I bring along a powerbank or charge in rental car. Shared between 4 persons, but we don't do heavy upload/download. Just normal use.

4 pax, but probably at most also 3 devices will be connected to it at all time. Mainly for Whatsapp, Google Maps, a bit of FB & perhaps some Googling for help lol.

That's good to hear! Do I have to make advance booking with them now to secure a unit? Or can I visit them directly in the KLIA 1 to discuss & pay?

Oh then you'll definitely need em. I thought of getting sim card then share out the connection. Travel recommends have few bad reviews that screw up including their customer service. Maybe you can try another service provider instead.

Is better for you to reserve and pay first then collect it directly from the counter when you are about to board plane if you collecting it from KLIA.

Besides Travel Recommends, have you tried others?

The SIM card or our telco roaming is one of the safest option. But my phone battery can't even last an hour if i do that lol. Too much PoGo last time gg-ed my battery sweat.gif

You had to go for pocket wifi if that's the case. Do check some accommodations as they do provide free wifi. Like my stay in Tokyo provided wifi for me so that my fiance and I get to use internet anytime we want. But do note that the wifi is for you to google map, check route eta. Not for heavy usage such as youtube, insta video, etc.

Yea simple web browsing & social media usage only. Better spend more time offline while being overseas lol.

I'm planning to utilize the Amazing Osaka Pass (2 days). Just wanna check with people who had similar experience, may I know if my itinerary is too hectic or rush? Assuming I'm going to kick off my day at 10am & retire back to the hotel at 10pm. The journey will most likely be via train + walking.

Day 1
Sakuya Konohana Kan
Osaka Castle
Utsubo Park
Kuromon Ichiba Market
Dotonbori

Day 2
Nagai Botanical Garden
Osaka Tennoji Zoo
Keitakuen Garden
Kuromon Ichiba Market (optional)
Dotonbori (optional)
Umeda Sky Building

Are there any other "highly recommended to go" places that I missed out?

Check promo code, otherwise may not worth it for Japan. I recall I paid only RM8-12 per day after discount. I ordered and paid in advance, print out (or show phone) to collect.
Also try check other providers which maybe cheaper, or not.

I recall I use Travel Recommend for Taiwan also, no issue with coverage, battery and bandwidth. I guess different people will encounter different experience. unsure.gif

For my next month trip to Europe, not worth for our 4 pax. So we are going to buy individual sim each.

Yea there bound to be people encountering bad experience with the device something. Just wanna ensure whichever providers I go to isn't notorious for bad experience laugh.gif

The cheapest i found is RM8 per day but the provider is notorious for delay deposit refund & very unresponsive (even for technical help) sweat.gif

My phone batter is very weak, so that's why i'd prefer to use travel/pocket wifi over the SIM card method. If i tether from my phone, confirm 1 hour later my phone will be dead bangwall.gif

TR refund my deposit quite standard in ~1 week +/- time without any issue and no need to call them, quite consistent every time.
BTW, don't flame me if you encounter bad experience with TR laugh.gif

I'm not sure about SIM, but earlier this year was in HK using the kkday SIM (CSL carrier), it seems whenever I tried tether, the data plan freezes. Tried few times and same, in the end I didn't bother to tether, just use my primary phone only. Secondary will use hotel wifi or other free wifi.

Not recommended to use phone as tether outside, you will still need a big battery pack. Get your own MiFi device to put the SIM.

Ohhhh, so that's what you meant by using SIM. Yea, I totally forgot about that. I'm not a season traveler, so I don't have my own MiFi device. A good one costs a few hundreds right? sweat.gif

No worries la, like I said....I understand if some people encounter bad experience. Nothing is perfect after all. Hopefully there won't be any issues during my trip later no matter which travel wifi provider i use.

TBH is not that expensive if you are a frequent traveller. Else just opt for pocket wifi service. Which service provider to recommend? I don't have any. I'd say just rent from anyone since everyone gotten different experience from each of them. laugh.gif

Okie dokie. I just booked from Travel Recommends already, cross my fingers & hope everything will be ok.

Another thing to check. I'll be departing KLIA at 2pm & arrive at 10pm. Is it better to buy the train ticket to town at KIX itself or buy while in Malaysia?

Is it easy to hail Uber (or their local e-hailing if there's any) in Osaka or better to just use their cabs? Just wanna know in case need to use suddenly.

Have to be a member in Klook to buy anything there? I can't find the option to check out as Guest sweat.gif

You only able to buy the normal train tickets over there, not possible to buy it here.

Not advisable to take their taxi as their taxi is very expensive. Don't think they have any e-hailing cab service as well. Only rely on public transports
