Yes I read on tripdavisor the ropeway was down for a period in 2018

woah even after peak cherry blossom season a lots of people  smile.gif

I will be travelling with elderly. So have to take either the ropeway or take the bus to Naka Senbon (middle).  Better check the ropeway status before i go.

I found this website good to check cherry peak season

Yeah it was really crowded even at the end of the season. I arrived early at 9am from Kyoto when the crowd was moderate, when I was hiking down around 1pm I was bumping shoulders with people at the town area.
Bus should be the easiest since there will be plenty of them, even without the ropeway I think the crowd should still be fine and orderly. They provide English speaking foreign helper outside Yoshino station where you take the bus, so there shouldn't be any problem.
2018 was a weird year with snowstorm in the middle of Tokyo creating snow cherry blossoms, cherry blossom came earlier by a week than most prediction.

Sapporo Subway one day pass.
If you plan to used pass, make sure you take alot of train within the day or else it won't worth the money.

Buy a IC card "Kitaca" also can.

Best place to see Mt Fuji?

Have heard of places like Hakone, Shizuoka, Kawaguchiko etc...

I have been to Fujiyoshida where there is a staircase up and there is a pagoda view. I think this is very great even though I havent been to other places.

Is Lake Kawaguchi the next best?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another question

Has anyone boarded Keihin bus (¥1,000) from Narita Airport to Tokyo station? And also from Tokyo station to Narita Airport

Is it best to reserve online? Or anyone have any luck buying the ticket on the spot?

Are you sure Keihin operates Tokyo to Narita in addition to Haneda? Or do you mean this Keisei one?

Best view? Sitting at the right side of the plane and take the window seat while traveling southbound from NRT during day time. I took Cathay, so i was using the route of NRT to HK then HK to KL.

So i just got back from my Tokyo trip approx 2 weeks ago and here's my TR / advice on a day trip to Lake Kawaguchiko area:

- From Tokyo city, buy the bus ticket online and board the bus from Shinjuku Expressway bus station towards Lake Kawaguchiko area EARLY. IMO, better get it online as takut early buses all sold out. i stayed at Shinjuku during my trip, so accessing to this bus station was just a 7 - 8 mins walk
- My suggestion is to buy the bus tix to 'Shimoyoshida Expressway bus stop' as your destination rather then Kawaguchiko Bus Station. Get to the Ararakurayama Sengen Park viewing point early for the Mt Fuji view 1st as there will be lots of people wanting to take pictures of Mt Fuji with the Chureito Pagoda. Once you satisfied with the view, finished taking pictures and etc, then baru walk to Shimoyoshida train station and take the train to Kawaguchiko station. With this, you can save 300 yen. Plus, from the expressway bus stop, u can walk terus following the WELL MARKED signages towards the park. This bus stop is nearer to the park somore. Wont get lost one! There ll be many ppl doing the same walk. Ikut saja..
- I followed the advice of going to this area during Winter, thus more chances to view Mt Fuji for the whole day. I also checked the weather forecast beforehand as well so that the weather x kacau. To read further, u may refer to this website : https://livejapan.com/en/in-tokyo/in-pref-f...ticle-a0002532/
- Train from Shimoyoshida station to Kawaguchiko station is 300 yen as mentioned. IC card can be used
- Check this website for the places u want to visit around the lake : http://bus-en.fujikyu.co.jp/heritage-tour/detail/id/1/ . if you think that the transportation cost will exceed 1500 yen, then just grab the 2 days bus pass. There's a tix booth around the station selling this pass.

Once you got down from the bus, you ll be able to notice Mt Fuji already

user posted image

Then, you ll see it more of it while climbing the stairs towards the Ararakurayama Sengen Park viewing point

user posted image

Lastly, this is the 'Japan in 1 picture' picture at Ararakurayama Sengen Park in the morning.. with the Chureito Pagoda on the right of cuz.

I did almost the exact route during Autumn 2015
Landed in Osaka, then proceed to Takayama - Shirakawago - Kanazawa - Toyama - Alpine Route - Matsumoto - Kawaguchiko - Tokyo

There is now Hokuriku shinkansen from Tokyo to Kanazawa, you might want to consider one of the JR Arch Passes around.

Thanks for your detailed explanation, especially stopping at Chuo EXPWY Shimoyoshida so that I can see Ararakurayama Sengen Park then walk to nearest station then take train to Kawaguchiko Station. I guess then once I reach Kawaguchiko Station I will walk to the ropeway and see from up there.

I have actually been to Ararakurayama Sengen Park and I think it was the most beautiful spot ever but I think it goes by different name as well. Chureito pagoda or fujiyoshida.

I have never seen view of Mt Fuji from the lake and there seems to be few spots for it.

Would you recommend me to stay in Oishi Park? Seems like the view is best from there when I wake up and I can see the view of Mt Fuji. But not much restaurant in there at night and with limited bus between Oishi Park and Kawaguchiko Station.

My mistake. It is Keisei and not Keihin.

Anyway I also found another one called Access Narita (accessnarita.jp/en).

Just realised that I dont have to book online from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station.

Only from Tokyo Station to Narita airport, it is best to book online.
