Anyone know why there is no direct flight between KL to Sapporo from August onwards for AirAsia?

Is it because the schedule hasn`t been released or they stop the direct flight to Sapporo?

Double check your dates? Flying to Sapporo Shin-Chitose, only Tuesdays, Thursday, Saturdays and Sundays got direct flights, while flying back to KL, only Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.  Just checked AirAsia December 2019 schedules.

But price, no promo (yet) ... last sale in May, the price was RM399 to, and RM430 return (without luggage & meal), for non-peak periods.
*
You are right. There are direct flight between CTS and KL for December (October onward) but no direct flight between Sapporo and KL in August and September 2019. Even the Airasia staff doesnt know why

Since I will be flying every month for work trip but cant find direct flight for August and September.

Could be seasonal demand. Singapore Airlines and I think Scoot do SIN-CTS direct flights only a few months a year for the winter ski season, but all other months tarak. Could be the same for AA too?
*
You could be right about the seasonal demand but I think August is a summer holiday in Japan and the famous Lavender in Hokkaido is also available viewing for July and August only so I do not see any reason why Airasia decides not to have flights in August

I am not in the airline industry so I don't have data available, but I suspect the demand is just not sufficient. Anecdotally speaking, I have a LOT of SG-based friends who fly to hokkaido for winter every single year. The number of ppl I know who fly there for flower season is far, far lower.
*
Yea, I would guess that winter is far more popular for South East Asian people as snow is something they look for during winter. Summer of Hokkaido is pale in comparison compared to winter for Malaysian

Can you advise about mid october in Hokkaido?
Is it good for sightseeing? i dont want hot and not too cold.... but this time mainly is to relax and eat around
*
Normally for mid october you can already see the best timing for Autumn leaves but for last year it shows the best color in early November. I would say the weather is tolerable. At night is like genting weather but afternoon is chilly.

AirAsia X will be temporary suspended flight to Hokkaido during Summer. Maybe as deodorant mention, during summer low demand. AirAsia X try focus all passenger to AirAsia X Thai to Sapporo during summer.

QUOTE(swn525 @ Jun 13 2019, 11:52 AM)
yup, no much people want go hokkaido during summer season, first is Nagoya, then Fukuoka, now is Hokkaido
because Malaysia economic bad? Malaysian have no money to travel? haha
*
Great to know that it is confirmed that there will be no direct flight between KL and Sapporo during Summer.

Most of the direct flights have been moved to Bangkok(Nagoya, Sapporo). I guess more Japanese love to visit Thailand more than Malaysia and also there are getting more and more Thailand people visiting Japan

The whole world prefer Thailand than Malaysia. Alot Western still thinking above Singapore are Thailand, direct skip Malaysia.
Malaysia alcohol tax just too high compare to Thailand.
*
Even I have to admit that Thailand is the best country in S.E.A for travel and even retire. Tasty food, cheap, better hospitality, nice beaches, better transportation.

Many foreigners don't even know Malaysia existed before the famous disappearance of MH and the 1MDB case...
I remember back during uni days in Melbourne, this French guy came up to me and asked where I was from.
Told him Malaysia and he never heard of it.
Told him we are just north of Singapore and he went "oh, I thought north of Singapore was Thailand?"  sweat.gif
*
It is true and funny because I ask Japanese what do they think of when I mention Malaysia. They are like `eh, and then say Merlion` and I say that is Singapore and they will apologize. So I can say that Merlion is the most famous landmark in S.E.A to foreigners

Most of the people I talked with are between 20 to 35 and they don`t seem to know about Malaysia. Those that have never been to Malaysia one.

Well, I got the ticket for Olympics football match in Sapporo. Will try to buy ticket for Tokyo one as well .

Yeah i agree the tokyo accomodation will double but we can always stay outside Tokyo, like Yokohama or kanagawa instead of in the center of Tokyo. Just have to spend longer time on train.

How did u managed to get tickets? I'm looking for opening ceremony tickets.
*
I am staying and working in Japan now and they open the tickets for Japanese Residents and it ended. Opening ceremony is hard to get and it is expensive, 300.000 yen each

I've never been to tokyo before. Can u recommend me which area should i stay during olimpics which i no need to pay with my arms and legs? I dont mind the longer train travel.
*
if you don't mind the distance, 1 hour away form tokyo center might be good. Can try Yokohama, Chiba, Saitama or look for place on outskirts of Tokyo that is on Chuo train line.

Hi, anyone has any experience of taking out cash (JPY) from ATM machine in Tokyo (or any place in Japan)? just read that ATM there uses 4 digit pin instead of 6 digit pin. Is it true? Will bring enough cash, but just in case any emergency or etc.. and of cuz, which has the lowest fees? =)
*

I felt like Japan New Year sales really no joke. Yesterday went to Skechers shop. 1st pair of shoe will be normal price but already reduce price like 2k yen less then the following pairs all 50% less. End up total 4 pairs for me & my sis. 10500 yen for 4 pairs of shoes.
*
Cool!

Is this the 2000 yen entrance fee one?

Felt like going at 3pm, then leave at night

Can enjoy both views

Lots of full service airlines also the same lah. MAS also making it difficult to get refund, across causeway SIA only waiving change fees if you postpone flight to august or earlier, if you wanna cancel then no concessions at all.
Don’t know how on earth you reached that conclusion.

The ban is on (non Malaysian) visitors entering Malaysia.

Malaysians are only “advised” not to go to Hokkaido. They’re not banned from going.
*
My mistake. Malaysians still can go to Hokkaido, except visitors who have been in Hokkaido for the past 14 days are not allowed to enter Malaysia.

But if the visitors went to Hokkaido within the last 14 days then go to Haneda/Kansai airport and then fly to KLIA2 and I wonder how the immigration know.

not sure whether JP gov will ban Malaysian though. but TBH, I felt a lot safer in JP than in MY, including both airport, flight. last Saturday, KIX was so empty you could literally count the number of guests, zero queue at every airline counters, even AAX counter have no queue and majority of the counter are free. security and immigration also have zero queue. for flight, basically u can have the whole row to yourself, plus the luxury of one row empty, one row sleep flat, one row empty incase you are worried about the person on the front or back sneezing/coughing.

however, Osaka is still quite crowded and a couple of ppl coughing here and there, wouldn't recommend traveling around there laugh.gif Kyoto on the other hand is almost void of tourist.
nope, all sold out, including hand sanitizer. even when they restock, I wouldn't want to go line up for an hour+ with a few hundred ppls, much riskier TBH.

I felt like Japan's government is underreporting the cases here because Abe wants to save his Olympic. The death rate is high in Japan but confirmed cases is low compared to S.Korea. Doesn’t seem right to me. You have to be very sick in order to get tested in Japan, unlike S.Korea where they test everyone even if you have mild symptoms.
