Just now the torrent test is download from a Private Tracker, but the speed is average 9-12 MB/s

What is your router model? Mine is AC68U, might try with AC86 to see any improvement over LAN

Try a different torrent client too and see if that makes a difference.

Experts, I need some 'hardware' help.

I gotten myself a Tenda AC18 from a forumer here (thanks bro)
Now the Tenda and BTU is downstairs (store room where all the cables are)

The wifi strength are not enough to cover rooms upstair.

I have a https://www.mi.com/my/mi-router-3/specs/ Mi Router 3 upstairs which I use as repeater. I don't feel any difference in the speed although being TURBO-ed ..

Q: Is my Mi Router 3 that is slowing down the speed?

IF it is, any recommendation of a cheap / not too expensive repeater that I can buy?

No, it's your setup that is slowing dowmn the speed, no way u can harness full bandwidth via repeater mode. Youre gonna have to wire it using LAN cable to see the difference.

Hmm.... if my setup is as below (which I have been using all this while la)

Downstairs storeroom = BTU + Tenda

1. Tenda Wifi on (strong enough for downstairs)
2. Tenda LAN WIRE connects to a room upstairs
3. Room upstairs install another router/repeater (connected via LAN cable) to share out wifi signal

Something is wrong with the LAN cabling of my house, the developer fuck up I guess, only 1 LAN socket works for my upstairs..

What will be a better way to make my whole house (upstairs for now, since Tenda is strong enough to cover the ground floor) gets WIFI signal? (p/s : Can't afford those high end gear)

The Tenda AC18 is a good router, but its wireless coverage is not that good compared to the pricier router. You can't use repeater and expect good speed. What you should have done is got the TP-Link AC2300 or the C3150 v2. Both are a bit pricey but its coverage is much better. What you can do now is to to either get one of the router I mentioned, ideally the C3150 v2, or connect to the Mi Router via wired LAN and make it a wired WAP, instead of a repeater.

What a privilege to have built in LAN cabling embedded inside the walls. Well, if all else fail, u can still transmit network signal via Homeplug to upper stair from your Tenda.

Have u ever considered aztech fg7008... or mikrotik hap ac2?

Sorry, wasn't clear on my previous post (kinda noob with network stuffs)
Actually my MI Router 3 is connected via LAN Cable and work as WAP (wireless access point right?)

The speed of WIFI from Mi Router 3 ain't 'too good'

With 5G wifi from Tenda, I get 57Mbps (when I am downstairs)
with Wifi from MI Router 3, I get only 14Mbps (upstairs)

Did some reading and it says Mi Router 3 only good for speed below 100Mbps.. wondering is there is any RM100+- alternatives for mi router that can give me higher speed (don't waste the turbo upgrade mah..lol)

btw, your suggested model are too pricy for me sad.gif

Cheapest router with gigabit LAN ports I know is Tenda AC9.

Something is not right with your Mi Router 3, it should be higher as WAP. Wrong config?

Is anyone facing connectivity issues to Europe today?

Can't connect to some of my services hosted on AWS in London.

Pretty sure it's to do with routing ... same issue doesn't exist if using a VPN!

My gr3 seems to be running fine for turbo800. Is it due to the local VLAN on your set up?
*
Yes, with bridge vlan filtering ON, the bridge ports loses hw_offload. Maybe can solve if configure the vlans in the switch chip but no time to try yet.

You may refer to https://www.blacktubi.com/unifi/setup-asus-router-for-unifi/ for setup. Do you select Unifi profile?

Yea. I was referring there too, but the setup page is a little different here, and theres no drop down option to select unifi profile.

I see. Well gr3 performance is near it’s limitation for 800mbps i guess but good enough for normal set up. Cheap too rclxms.gif
