Hello,

Yasterday i got unifi installed at my house. I thought it will be free of charge, but the installer later asked 30 ringgit for fiber connector (which goes to onu). He said it is not included in the free installation. Is this correct?
*
Is it the white fiber terminationbox with the with fiber cable and connector?

That thing now not included for standard installation.

Now they just straight connect the fiber to onu.

Have a question, guys...
My current cabling set up is:
From the Fibre Distribution Box on the pole behind my home, they pulled overhead Fiber cable (black) and fixed a small loop on the wall then continued across the roof through the louver window and directly went down to the BTU in the living quarter below...

Is this a standard practice? Actually, is that box on the pole a distribution box or FTB? I thought it was the former...
*
Yes, is the current standard installation.
They dont provide ftb anymore. If u want ftb they will charge u for that.

I see, than kyou... so the installation guide is considered a bit outdated... but I'd assume in such case many charges are also different now? Didn't get to find more info from TM website or even technical support is not helping at all...
*
Thats what ive been told by the installer. Now tm cut many cost. They dont even provide the fiber cable to the installer anymore, the installer have to source themselves using their own money. And tm commision is still the same, RM180 per installation.

Thats why now, if cable needed beyond the standard lenght, u have to pay the installer.

Now all bill kelam kabut...

Rm2 discount rebate for auto pay gone.
Rm130 perpetual discount become rm120 discount.

Can we do something about this?

I'm sure there is law regarding this matter.
*

people are paying differently on the same speed.

Already changed my router few years back because the old one died.

My current router is Asus RT-N12HP and it says on the box it supports up to 300MBPS. That should be ok right?

[attachmentid=10113394]
*
max u can get is 80mbps on wifi.
and 100 mbps on LAN.

i have the same router before i upgraded to RT-AC1300HP.

My setup Huawei hg8240w, Tplink Archer 1200c, unifi300Mbps
Bought 2 cat7 n 3 cat6 ugreen cables from official store@Lazada, when check port speed status, sometimes 100M(fast.com <100) other time 1G(fast.com 150 to 220), not consistent.
Wifi on laptop or mobile, speed always between 160 to 220.
Does it mean my Ugreen cables not good?
*
Ive use 3 ugreen cat 6 cable with my asus rt-ac1300. All works fine with 1gbps connection.

I suspect its the tplink router issue.

I'm paying rm190 per month too. Without std20. How to reduce the price? The most frustrating thing is the hpptv. I didn't even use it at all yet paying every month.
*
Ur hypptv is ultimate pack?
U can get started by downgrade to cheaper pack.
Save RM30.
But cant remove entirely.

Same with me...149 internet with compulsory hypptv aneka plus pack 30 become 190 with sst

what cheaper hypptv pack can choose??
*
Aneka already basic pack.
If u got ultimate, u can fowngrafe to aneka.
But since u already on aneka, cant downgrade la.

this is weird. i tink im only getting 100mbps + - via speedtest.net. using cat5e old cable & dir-850l for ages... lan connection got disconnected sometimes.. hmm
*
That means either ur cable or router problem.

Or maybe ur btu only capped at 100mbps.
Whats ur btu model?

Hi guys, need your advice. Is it possible to enable QoS and not throttling the link speed? My unifi has been turbo-ed to 800Mbps, plan to get a Asus AC86, just wonder if I can enable QoS without sacrifice the speed.
*
why u wanna enable qos though?
the bandwidth is more than enough for a household of 10, all device running simultaneously.

Coz I wan to allocate certain amount for each person. So when I download something, it won't affect other ppl + I can fully utilize the bandwidth allocated and vice versa.
*
just limit it at ur PC level.
limit in the torrent client manually.

from my experience, QoS on router not very efficient, and sacrifice a lot of bandwith.

Sounds good. Thanks for the advice. Thx Guys.

But if I want to limit download for http e.g. thru dropbox, gdrive and website.. etc. Coz I need to download a lot of work files like OS/setup image file, videos. How can I achieve it? Can download manager do this? If yes, can recommend some good download manager? Thx in advance.
*
for download manager,
ive used IDM since my uni days.
still works until today.

can schedule and limit speed.
