shouldn't the next gen Athlon would would be K10 as well? and the main difference between Athlon and Phenom is the absence of 3rd level cache of the former.
*
For the time being the Athlons will still be K8 based (even those using the new naming system), only moving to the new architecture later. Which is probably only going to happen sometime next year and no earlier.

Added on July 13, 2007, 1:26 pmBeen thinking, how nice would it be to have a Phenom X4 on my Abit NF-M2 nview..after all the socket still supports it and the hypertransport bus is backward compatible..only thing missing is the split power planes..hopefully there is a way to make it work..

Bro,

I've briefly browse my Abit mobo yesterday, kindly odd that the Dram setting is not within the softmenu. Different from biostar, dfi and Gigabyte. Anyway, I'll be trying to OC it with my brisbane. How far have u manage within the bios itself ?
*
I am using original 11/13/06 BIOS (unmoded). Overclocking is at 290x10 without any problem so far, cpu limited of course since I don't want to bump more voltage. Memory is at 580 5-5-5-15-2T, and everything is pretty much default I guess. It has been a while since the last time I was fiddling around with the BIOS setting. Hehe.

I believe the split power lanes is more like hardware implementation, mobo circuitary or something.

You have to add vcore for it already.
Last time my windsor 38 need 1.5x to reach 2.5Ghz. FYI, my windsor 38 is 89W one. smile.gif
And yes, as byfc2010 said, windsor is much more difficult to oc if compared to brisbane

nowadays windsor is different already. You can hit 3Ghz with windsor easily if you know how to pick a good one.....

hi guys,

after updating my bios to 605 from 402, i cant startup my pc edi. i dont think the mobo burned coz there is no burnt smell and no loud sound coming from the psu.

here is what happened and i hope u guys can help me out since we have quite a number of ppl here using same mobo (and cpu as me)

yesterday i just reformatted my pc coz after installing bitdefender, it gave a lot of problems to my system and other software on it. reformatting and install windows and all my programs had no problems. but after updating the bios from the biostar website, to the 605 bios using the biostar bios update utility, it said i needed to restart, after the restart, my pc wouldnt even go into bios or anything, there was no cpu information displaying, nothing at all, just a black screen like my pc is not linked to my monitor.

i rebooted again and there is no beep sound and no other diagnostic beeps like long beep as well. the cpu fan is turning as well as the casing fan, just that it will not start up.

do u have any idea how to fix my problem? the mobo has 2 buttons one which reset and one which on/off the pc, but both also dont fix the problem. i took out the battery from the mobo and put back in also same. no response, the pc not booting up.

i cant even enter bios to restore the previous bios. hope u can help me out. thanks.

i am no expert, so this is just a suggestion; but how about u try to change the ram into the different slots? or if u have any pci devices, take it out and switch on the pc...see how it goes smile.gif

Are you sure you flash the correct BIOS?

There are 2 LEDs near the power/reset buttons, any of them lights up or blinks?
If no lights/blinks I believed you flash the wrong BIOS or the BIOS flashing process not sucessful.

Try to send the link here where you download the BIOS file.
I tried b4, accidentally flash the wrong BIOS (under the stupid Windows version flash utility but it never warn me about the incompatible BIOS source file!) It just flash and after restart same thing like you happened!

Try to feel the small heatsink near the CMOS battery, it feel slightly warm right (after power up)?

Trying to help but you please give some feedbacks.

hi a2h85 , i've faced your problem b4 , shouldn't be a big problem i guess.

IMHO , the bios that you've flashed is ok, just that some setting in your previous bios not match / clashed with this new bios, that's why it won't boot up. To solve the problem , just clear the CMOS by removing the jumper and recap it again.

Im pretty sure that the bios that you've flashed is ok. You can try to clear CMOS 1st , if cannot solve the problem then come back to here again.

regards,
