regarding the athlon x2, it is still athlon64 but amd decided to drop the 64 at the back since its already well known to be 64bit and amd is known to be the innovator behind 64bit procs.

QUOTE
Although all current AMD processors retain their original names, the two being introduced today are the first to use AMD's new model numbers. As announced during its Phenom introduction, AMD is dropping the 64 from its product names - the new chips are simply Athlon X2s. The 64-bit race is over now that both AMD and Intel have 64-bit support on a majority of their processors, and now it's time to move on. All previous X2s will still be called Athlon 64 X2s and AMD isn't changing the logo just yet, but eventually it will phase out the old names/model numbers in favor of the new system.

u can search around the net for more on this if u want, but the BE-2350 and BE-2300 are still 64bit biggrin.gif

hi guys,

after updating my bios to 605 from 402, i cant startup my pc edi. i dont think the mobo burned coz there is no burnt smell and no loud sound coming from the psu.

here is what happened and i hope u guys can help me out since we have quite a number of ppl here using same mobo (and cpu as me)

yesterday i just reformatted my pc coz after installing bitdefender, it gave a lot of problems to my system and other software on it. reformatting and install windows and all my programs had no problems. but after updating the bios from the biostar website, to the 605 bios using the biostar bios update utility, it said i needed to restart, after the restart, my pc wouldnt even go into bios or anything, there was no cpu information displaying, nothing at all, just a black screen like my pc is not linked to my monitor.

i rebooted again and there is no beep sound and no other diagnostic beeps like long beep as well. the cpu fan is turning as well as the casing fan, just that it will not start up.

do u have any idea how to fix my problem? the mobo has 2 buttons one which reset and one which on/off the pc, but both also dont fix the problem. i took out the battery from the mobo and put back in also same. no response, the pc not booting up.

i cant even enter bios to restore the previous bios. hope u can help me out. thanks.

i am no expert, so this is just a suggestion; but how about u try to change the ram into the different slots? or if u have any pci devices, take it out and switch on the pc...see how it goes  smile.gif

about the ram or pci device, i dont think thats the problem coz there are no beep sounds coming from the mobo.

Are you sure you flash the correct BIOS?

i doubt it that i flashed the wrong bios. here is the link

http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en-us/t-seri...ios.php?S_ID=17

R69AM605.BST

i heard many ppl say its stable and rock solid then only i decide to flash it. mana tau...

QUOTE
There are 2 LEDs near the power/reset buttons, any of them lights up or blinks?
If no lights/blinks I believed you flash the wrong BIOS or the BIOS flashing process not sucessful.

one of them is called 010 and one called 011? the 010 got light, the 011 below it doesnt.

sorry for poor quality coz phonecam

Try to send the link here where you download the BIOS file.
I tried b4, accidentally flash the wrong BIOS (under the stupid Windows version flash utility but it never warn me about the incompatible BIOS source file!) It just flash and after restart same thing like you happened!

To awh85,

What's your opinion about Biostar TA690G? I've seen many complains on the AMD driver issue , as well as the bios . Mind to share your opinion about this mobo with me?

Regards,
dblooi

hi. first of all, thanks for ur help. my problem was just a small one. i just had to reset the jumper and it booted up. no problems on it now.

for the drivers issue, im using catalyst 7.6 now which doesnt give me problems (except that the igp is showed as x1200 instead of x1250 but thats not a big problem and doesnt affect performance )but previous 7.5 did. so far, the board has given me no problems except for the problem i was facing just now.

sound is good. lan is gives no problems. graphics are good. can play most games like cnc3, fifa07, carbon, FEAR, battlefield 2, etc etc but u must make compromise on resolution and quality la.

quite a lot of ppl can get a good overclock on this board and me using the automated overclock can also get my 3600 brisbane to 2.3 from 1.9 just by changing overclock profiles without any advanced overclocking knowledge.

with my brisbane, my idle sys temp is below 40 as well as cpu temp. so far im happy with the board and also like the pcb colour coz it looks interested compared to others haha.
