hi gurus,

i plan to subscribe time fibre 500mbps. according to their website, i will be getting TP-Link Archer C1200. Does it support dual band 2.4 / 5g. can it support 500mbps or more.
*
It does support dual band, but not 500Mbps on Wifi. Possible, but highly unlikely. Get your own router, or use wired connection.

Yes, for 100 & 500Mbps , Tplink Archer C1200 will be given, and for 1Gbps, Dlink DIR-882 (AC2600) will be given, far more better than Archer C1200.

Even runs on Wifi 5GHz, the best you could get is approx. 3xxMbps.

Thanks.

Yes. See here for a list of routers that support your 500Mbps speed: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4658096

Just a review.

I have obtained help from jjj2 and jjj2 has been really helpful in the whole TIME subscriptions.

Just take note if you want to subscribe 500Mbps and 1Gbps, make sure your wifi router and devices (phone, laptops) can support those speeds. As most of my home wifi devices can support wifi 2.4Ghz, can't really enjoy this speed. Even I have  iphone and mac book pro that uses the 5Ghz, I still don't see the big jumps that I expect as my wifi router is the bottleneck. Unless you use the ethernet cable then different story. So 100Mbps is good enough for most people to be honest.

If you want to apply TIME, you can consider getting jjj2 helps here. jjj2 is legit for sure.

Cheers.

Thanks a lot Bro smile.gif

Time still pays the 500rm penalty if you shift from unifi? Can subscribe to 100mbps package once shifting this way?

Thanks in advance for all your answers.

Hi,

I'm sorry Easy Switch is only applicable to 500Mbps & 1Gbps packages signed.

Thanks.

Hi guys, just subscribed to new TIME Broadband 500mbps. Thye gave wireless router archer c1200.
Few questions :

(i) to change new IP address, what is the fastest way? reboot in admin page?
(ii) for speed test through wifi: ipv4 i got around 40Mbps and ipv6 got around 351Mbps.. Is this normal for 500mbps package?

if there is any suggestion settings to improve performance, pls advice..tqvm

1. Download the "Tether" app, add the router and you can do reboots from your phone without having to login every time. Or logon using browser, disconnect and reconnect.

2. Not normal.. IPv4 and IPv6 don't affect internet speed so drastically. But is it normal to get 351Mbps speeds over wifi? That depends on then network load at time of testing, router and if the receiving device is actually capable of attaining full 500Mbps speeds. Try moving closer to the router and connecting to the 5Ghz band. But all in all the C1200 isn't a decent router for such consistent performance over Wi-Fi.

good morning. This sounds like a weird problem. I haven't encountered this before and I only use IPV4. Since you can actually register 3xx mbpbs speeds I assume you're on an AC-capable device. What does a wired connection say?

Yes, if your want to change the Public IP assigned to you, login to your Router, press Disconnect & Connect.

(ii) for speed test through wifi: ipv4 i got around 40Mbps and ipv6 got around 351Mbps.. Is this normal for 500mbps package?
I presume you should be refering to 5GHz Wifi, and not Ipv4 or Ipv6.

Check your incoming bandwidth, if it reaches 500Mbps, then only proceed with your Router, make sure 5GHz is used everytime to achieve highspeed (probably within radius of 5m from the router), Disable QOS & enable NAT Boost.

Hi, try to avoid that if you can, and go for Mesh Router Solutions.

If you have no choice, you will need at least AV1200 rating of powerline, and test it with the giving tools for its E2E bandwidth.
There are more complicated tunings works to be done which I won't cover here.

Thanks.

Thanks for the replied bro.

Ya, I tested wired connection, can reach until 500mbps..
So in summary:

(i) Wired : 500mbps
(ii) Ipv6 5ghz wifi : 300mbps
(iii) Ipv4 2.4ghz wifi: 40-60mbps

So , is this normal? or Ipv4 2.4ghz wifi connection got problem? I already try change to less congestion channel..but still the same result..changed to google dns also same.. confused.gif confused.gif

I think I am going to assume you're referring to 2.4ghz vs 5ghz wifi.
In that case, that's pretty normal. 2.4ghz is INCREDIBLY congested especially in a condo setting. I live in a similar situation, which was only improved once I used a Mesh solution.

damn u made me question my general Internet knowledge for a awhile there==

first thing u should know is that ipv6 doesn't provide faster connection speed, u can see ipv6 as a substitute once we run out of address space that ipv4 can address

next read up a little on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WIFI on google and you will know why 5Ghz WIFI provide faster speed than your 2.4Ghz WIFI
