for the router to be Aimesh node.... does this router can be wifi connected to the parent router or must go with LAN?
It can use WiFi connectivity as the backhaul. It is possible to use wired backhaul as well.Home Networking WiFi Router Discussion Thread, Updated for 2023

What is the best value router to be used as a WiFi repeater? Currently using the Netis DL4480V router that came with my 30Mbps unifi, in process of upgrading to 800Mbps.

Hi folks,
Been using the useless stock dlink black can for my turbo 500mb since day one. Only uses WiFi 2.4g as my pc PCI only accepts 2.4. Usual speed test 11mb for PCI Usual speed test 20mb for mobile phone I don't use 5ghz because no range at all. Sick of it as I always have to restart both modem and router after 3 hours because the speed will drop to 2mb etc. Recently even worse, ping test will drop connection loss.. after restart still below 1mb. I think maybe lighting strikes caused the router to be faulty. I am the only user. Been reading the threads here and combing the e-commerce stores. Still very confused what to get 1. Decent range for 5ghz for double storey. 2. Hope to get at least 50mb on WiFi 2.4ghz if possible 3. Suitable for hypptv 4. Budget wise, thinking below 300, maybe A6 archer. Spending nearly 600 on c2300 really hard for me to swallow. 5. I still need the white modem right? Thanks everyone! |

Thanks everyone! 1. 5ghz even c2300 cannot cover double storey. 2.4ghz yes. 5ghz coverage suggest go for mesh wifi. 2. I place my router in 1st floor center open living area. 2.4ghz u can get mostly 100mbps even in different floor. For ground floor corner or close door still ablt to get 20 to 30mbps. 3. Not using hypptv so no comment 4. Maybe can get review from other for A6 or A9. 5. Yes. Modem remain. Replace router only. If you want single router can get c2300 on 2.4ghz. Or else cheaper router + mesh wifi for 5ghz coverage. Hope it helps. |

I plan to subscribe Unifi 100 MBps at my house.
1. Is Archer C60 is the best? 2. If that so, should I buy in advance and let the Unifi technician help to install? Sorry I'm not good at this area since never buy a router before. I appreciate you guys idea. |

ASUS RT-AC86U have one of the best 2.4Ghz performance around. Or maybe you can consider those used Ruckus AP. They work like magic in a noisy environment and they are fairly cheap now. |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Jun 12 2019, 01:09 AM) RT-AC86U is available everywhere. Am i the only one having problem with 2.4Ghz wifi channel? 5Ghz is perfectly fine tho. Even unifi stock dlink router also have the same problemAs for Ruckus, you need to look around. Not easily available since it is enterprise level gear |

QUOTE(MGM @ Jun 12 2019, 05:36 AM) A lot faster bigger WiFi coverage in our testing.QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Jun 12 2019, 11:05 AM) Am i the only one having problem with 2.4Ghz wifi channel? 5Ghz is perfectly fine tho. Even unifi stock dlink router also have the same problem You are not alone. 2.4Ghz is almost unusable for some users due to bad congestion.I suggest trying channel 1,6,11 as these are non-overlapping. Look around for those 2.4Ghz devices that may interfere such as dect phones, baby monitor, microwave oven etc. |

My router is on the second floor and my TV is on the first floor. I am using HyppTV and the STB is connected via LAN cable to my router. The cable is embedded in the wall. It would be nice if i could add a network switch downstairs and connect other devices to it as well.
I understand it is not possible to connect to the internet using the iptv port of the router (LAN1 in my case as i am using TP-Link AC2300). Is there a way to add an ethernet switch connected to the HyppTV/IPTV LANport of the router and use 1 port of the switch to connect to HyppTV STB and other ports of the switch for wired connection to the internet? TP-Link Archer C2300 for value for money. ASUS RT-AC86U. The ASUS is better but of course it is much more expensive. |
