Hi blacktubi

I recently moved to this new 1000sqft condo, understand the provided point is not optimum but I don't want to pull wires around the house.

I am currently using Unifi provided D-Link AX3000 WiFi 6, my bedroom 2 and master bedroom suffer low speed (<10% speed VS my 500mbps plan) and signal, including bad ping

I have TP-link RE305 plugged at Bedroom 2 marked in red which gives me full signal in Bedroom 2 but less than 5% of speed in Bedroom 2, thus I relocated to the blue area in hope of getting better signal, but the result does not improve.

Did a bit of research here and there including seeking advice from TP-Link and Asus ended me with 2 solutions

1. Going for Mesh, TP-link Deco X50 2 units replacing my TM D-link router & another at area marked in green
2. Replace my TM D-link router to a stronger standalone unit like Asus TUF AX6000 or RT-AX86u Pro at its original area.

Which would you suggest? would the AX86U Pro overkill? I heard this modem getting a huge price slash at 11.11 possibly around RM800 thus this is also reason why I am including in to consideration despite the price have some LEAP from Deco X50 or TUF AX6000

I open for other models recommendations too.

I wouldn't put 2 mesh units so closely together which would cause roaming / interference issues. Your device at living room / dining area will be jumping non stop between main / node and oh boy that's not gonna be fun.

If you get the AX86U PRO, put it towards the left side of TV cabinet, as left as possible. It would at least be much better than current situation.

As for the Deco X50 suggestion, it will cause roaming issue with this placement. But if you place 1 unit of the Deco X50 inside any one of the rooms, I afraid the signal might be too weak for the X50 to handle, ended up similar scenario like your repeater.

So ideally if you got the budget, get ZenWiFi XT8 twin pack, 1 unit on left side of TV cabinet and another unit inside Master room / bedroom 2 see which one perform better for your scenario.

In fact, you can try to adjust your D-Link, put it as left as possible you should see some improvement. Do let me know if it helps.

Edit, if this is a newer project, check if the developer includes LAN port at any of the rooms, you can save a lot of $$ if you were to just do wired backhaul

Just checkec XT8, seems like need 1.5k for this set, about 2x above my budget of 800 hmm.gif
In your opinion is it even AX86U PRO can struggle in my master room especially behind bathroom wall?

I'll try with the router reposition to a bit more left, but I have max 30cm distance to play with only due to built in cabinet
No LAN port though, just TV/Satellite/Radio port

I think the RT-AX86U Pro would be way better than what you have now

But it wouldn't be mind blowingly fast due to your condo unique layout which would be challenging for WiFi

Conservative estimate would be getting at least 100Mbps

If said TV port is also available at various rooms, you can also consider getting a pair of MoCA 2.5 adapter.
It’s a pretty stable wired 2.5gbps connection between 2 connected TV ports. Latency is extremely low as well, less than a few ms. Just take note that it’s not as cheap as those crappy power line adapter.

Just make sure it’s disconnected to any antenna outside in case of a lightning strike.

No it’s not. I’m not sure which standard is that… but that’s only 10mbps.
Moca is 250x faster.

An example is this.
But it’s crazy overpriced. And remember that you need a pair.

I got mine for USD 110 (for a pair) several years ago. Got directly from Amazon during Black Friday period. Had to use a forwarder then.

Hi, I would like some advice from all the sifu here
Currently I am living with my family of <6

The house is an apartment that is about 20+years old and it's about 900 square feet

I am looking to replace the existing default unifi router, or maybe upgrade to my existing home network. I have attached a diagram I sketch for my home network

Buy any Deco twin pack and replace all of them to Deco instead since you already have Deco M4

This way you get true seamless roaming across all 3 APs

Ok. May I know what are some of the recommended deco model I can go with? My budget is below 1k for the upgrade.
Will I be able to replace the unifi router too? As I notice that if 4-5 devices is watching video all at the same time, 1 of the devices video will buffer.

Deco BE25 two pack should fit within your budget and it can replace the Unifi router also

Basically your full system would be Deco after you did that, works much better than current system of 3 routers not working together
