Mind sharing your actual purpose for using the Raspberry Pi? I have a spare one too but no idea what to use it for.
*
Not the guy but sharing my own use of RPi.

I am running PiHole which lets me to block ads across my entire network.

You will still see some content based ads like Youtube but most web ads are removed.

So, would you recommend C2300 over C3150 in terms of wireless coverage and firmware? I have the C3150 but is considering the C2300 for my other house.
*
I would prefer the C2300 unless you have a PCE-AC88 to utilize the 4x4.

TP-Link Archer C2300 is the best wireless router in this range.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for recommendations for new router to replace my current TP-Link AC1200. My current plan is UNIFI 500Mbps, and my intention of replacement is to utilize its full speed as max as possible.

The current AC1200 only managed to push up to 300Mbps for 5Ghz band. So quite frustrated there.

Thanks.

Refer to first page or my signature. You are still using the DIR-615, which is considered very old. What is your budget? You will need a dual band router and your speed will increase.

I recommend the TP-Link C2300, or if you prefer Asus, the ASUS RT-AC1300UHP. I would go for the TP-Link C2300 personally.

You should get the Asus PCE-AC88 if you want the best. Review on blacktubi site here: https://www.blacktubi.com/review/asus-pce-ac88-review/

For your reference.
I'm using unifi 100mbps, TPLink C2300, 2 storey house too, router at 1st floor center living space.
2.4ghz can cover whole house with max 100mbps except grand floor toilet (closed door) at corner, about 10-20 mbps.
5ghz can cover 1st floor with strong signal and speed, but ground floor cannot cover all corner and speed < 100mbps.

Therefore, if you are ok with 2.4ghz to cover whole house is good enough. (Which i doing now)
If you prefer 5ghz, you may need go towards mesh wifi.
