Hi,
House type: Condo Size of house: around 1100-1200 sqft. 3rd floor Features required: bandwith i guess Number of devices connected to WiFi: 1-3 max in 1 time Internet Speed: was thinking of yes 5g or umobile 5g Budget: 500-700 or more if it worth it
im mostly going to try use yes 5g or umobile home 5g need a router with 5g sim slot usage is mostly works/youtube which should not be a problem but im worried about online gaming like ps5 and pc, worried about the latency
5g is my only option because im on rent with less than 1 year. most fibre need 2 years contract and TIME is not supported in my place

Hi there, recently I've seen some ads for used Aruba AP-505 for like RM300 ish per unit. Was just wondering if that's a good deal for an AP that can be mounted on the ceiling. Shopee link for the APsOriginally I planned to go with new Ubiquiti Access Point U7 Lite as that's the cheapest decent AP I've seen (~RM600/unit), but this one seems to be looking good as well. What do yall think? Thanks This post has been edited by HayateAyakasi8: Sep 2 2025, 09:18 PM

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Aug 18 2025, 08:53 PM) RT-AX86U Pro at a very good price now and unless you go for RT-BE86U and above, it will best the WiFi performance of other ASUS WiFi 7 routers Broadcom CPU, excellent loaded latency, plenty of features and most importantly stable like a rock Wouldn’t it be better to go for ASUS RT-BE92U (BE9700) since same price as AX86 pro? Or is the ax86u pro much more stable and reliable with wifi dead spots ? This post has been edited by Chiggah: Sep 3 2025, 10:45 AM

Hi all,
House type: Landed 2 Storey Size of house: around 2200 sqft Features required: Wifi 6 Number of devices connected to WiFi: 5-6 max in 1 time Internet Speed: Unifi/Maxis 500mbps Budget: 300 - 400
I already have Archer Ax53 as my main router, but the room at the 2nd floor only get about 200Mbps or below. Can help to recommend a good mesh router to work with AX53 to achieve at least 400Mbps on 2nd floor ?

Hey guys, I am facing occasional buffer and speed drop problem. I’m on Celcom 300 Mbps (using CelcomTimur infrastructure) with their stock EX510 router. Sometimes Instagram stories still buffer, even though the speed should be more than enough. I also notice that when I download games on Steam, the speed often drops to about half for a short while before bouncing back to full.
It feels like the connection just can’t sustain maximum speed consistently. Do you think this is more of an ISP routing issue, or could it be something to do with the stock router?

Hi,
House type: 3 storey terrace Size of house: About 4000 sqft Features required: Stable connection Number of devices connected to WiFi: About 10 at any one time Internet Speed: 800mbps Unifi Budget: About RM500
Currently using Unifi's TP Link AC1200 and it's at the master bedroom on the second floor.
I don't really have a problem right now but the router is old (nearly 10 years I think and 24/7 non stop) and recently, rebooting the router always takes it into a reboot loop and instead of the usual 3-5 minutes, sometimes it will take an hour just to reboot.
It just reboots, everything ok for like 20 seconds, then it reboots again. But when it stops doing that, I can go on for months without rebooting.
So just in case it does reboot again and decides to never come back, I'd like to change to a new router.
Just a little background - I was ok with the older D-link white+orange router. Then Unifi changed to this, which I am ok as well despite my house being 3 storeys. Maybe the placement of my router is ideal, ie middle of the house and on the middle floor. I just need to be able to watch youtube/tiktok at all rooms and I'm happy. I don't really need mesh now but it's a good feature to have when my children decides to do things that are more demanding.
Any recommendations?

I am having issues with security camera coverage for my terrace house because my Wifi router is too far away from the cam.
I am considering buying a new Asus RT-AX86U Pro to upgrade as the main router and use the old RT-AC86U as the AiMesh node.
Is it possible to use the Guest Network features with the AiMesh node?

The biggest problem with the security cam position is that its outside and behind a big ledge so it keeps disconnecting randomly from the 2.4ghz wifi. The plan for me was to install the old router at the ground floor eth port since that is very near the cam instead. What's the good price for the RT-AX86U Pro? I am finding around 900 ringgit on shopee. This post has been edited by kurogane: Sep 8 2025, 09:52 PM

Yea, the AX86U Pro is leaps and leaps ahead of the AC68U, in fact AC68U is totally outdated now, the only thing still good about it is the reliability and stability I am an owner of a 10 years old orignal AC68U which still works, bought at around RM8XX back then IIRC I didn't track prices but check lazada as well, usually quite good deal on special day

It has served me pretty well though for the last 7 years! Anyways, found a good deal on Shopee for the RT-AX86U PRO from the Asus Official Shop, after all vouchers its RM 851 so about the same as the price for the AC86U back in the day. Hope it lives up to the quality!

QUOTE(laihuhng @ Sep 9 2025, 12:24 PM) Is BE86U any better than AX86U PRO? In terms of range? To be frank we kinda hit the maximum limit of range as that's limited by regulators. E.g. transmit power for 5GHz is limited at 1000mW for Malaysia. Basically if you are already using a high end router with flagship radio circuitry, you wont see any difference in range when upgrade to another high end router. But you will see the difference when upgrading from a lower end / mid range router. Example AX86U Pro > BE86U, no difference in range The only difference is speed when the signal is weaker, BE86U is will offer better speed even to older non WiFi 7 devices mainly due to improved noise handling or interference mitigation with technology improvement over the years. Also, since it's a WiFi 7 router, it support a higher network throughput for WiFi 7 devices.
