Hi, I’m not into network technicalities. I just let network technician setup my wifi and ready to use. But I know basic like changing ssid and password. Anyway, what I want to achieve is setup vpn to some LAN ports in the wifi router to connect my streaming devices. The wifi connection is without vpn. Is this possible to achieve in a wifi router? If yes, what wifi router can you recommend in 800sqf unit. I’m currently in time 600Mbps internet. TIA

I can see a VPN client feature on my Asus router (Zenwifi XT8) but never played with it before.

Instead, I just installed the VPN app (used Nord and Surfshark before) from the App Store on my Apple TV and connected it to my VPN service when needed.

Since you are already staying in a Semi-D, do yourself a favor and get yourself one of those higher end mesh WiFi system that's more than RM1.5K

Those cheaper system just doesn't cut it for this scenario

I went ahead with A73. It is performing well at my place. No more intermittent dead zone. My home build size is 3100 sqft.
Got voucher and managed to purchase at RM299. Hardware is V2.
Thank you.

Hi, I'm currently using TP-Link ec230, the speed very slow, sometimes less than 300mbps. Thinking to upgrade the router to have better coverage too.
Current using the modem come from Time, which is Huawei echolife HG8240H5, when I change router, does this need to upgrade as well? Thanks

Hi, im looking to improve the connection on 2nd floor of the house. The router will be placed in the living room. current options:
1. Add 2 unit mesh system
2. Upgrade main router, use Maxis router as AP on 2nd floor. Not sure if possible?
3. If option 2 is not feasible, add another router as AP on 2nd floor

House type: double storey
Size of house: 1200sqft
Number of devices connected to WiFi: 7
Internet Speed: 300mbps
Budget: below RM300

800sqft should be fine with just a single router with strong coverage

ASUS TUF-AX4200 or TP-Link Archer AX73 but I heard it's discontinued now

Budget is kinda low

I suggest just get another cheap WiFi router, set it as access point mode and put it on the 2nd floor

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already bought the AX72 Pro. it's working okay on 5ghz, however it's very bad in 2.4ghz. when I run speed test, only able to get less than 100mbps in devices. Do you have any idea why it's so bad? I tried to change channel, but still same.

It's normal, 2.4GHz max speed is around that range especially at condo with high interference

This is why we try to prioritize routers with stronger 5GHz signal these days

I would avoid it, signal is quite weak

Might be even weaker than the free AX3000 combo router from Unifi

My school got new Unifi Skyworth GN630V for each line.(got 3)
So got 6 Fiberhome HG614F3 unit not used. Previous contract got 2 unit per line as mesh.

Question
1) Can I set/connect Fiberhome unit as mesh to Skyworth unit. If cannot
2) What is the most effective way to set up wireless mesh using these 6 Fiberhome unit

TQ in advance

RT-AX86U Pro at a very good price now and unless you go for RT-BE86U and above, it will best the WiFi performance of other ASUS WiFi 7 routers

Broadcom CPU, excellent loaded latency, plenty of features and most importantly stable like a rock

My suggestion is to run LAN cable to each unit and manually set them on manual AP mode (might require some tinkering for it to work)

50m LAN cable is cheap on Shopee

Thank you for your service

Looking for suggestion for router

On tplink ax73
Using time wifi , for a 1200sq feet, condo
However almost all the rooms, at the edge will not have coverage
Looking for an upgrade can suggest better wall penetration router, speed is not important, willing to spend 1k
