Hi guys,

I was tinkering around with my router to use Google ipv6 DNS but I did not make a copy of the previous settings.

Is this setting right if I want to use Google ipv6 DNS?

Router is TP-Link Archer C1200.

Yes. It is correct.

Tick the box which mention PPPOE same session with IPv4 connection.

Select DHCPv6 option from Get IPv6 address.

Thanks.

Got it! Thanks so much! biggrin.gif

EDIT:
Doesn't seem to be working. I'm not getting the IPv6 tag when I post here in the forums and ipv6test.google.com is saying I don't have IPv6. My router does say it is connected to IPv6 though.

Where did I do wrong?

Rebooted. Tried DHCPv6 on the Assigned LAN type. Same thing.

Try 2nd or 3rd option.

You're using TIME right?

Thanks.

I'm using Unifi 500mbps. Sorry should've mentioned that earlier.

Will try again when I get home.

Why do you want to get IPv6 though? It won’t increase your connection speed or WiFi speed. Your router does not support 500Mbps on WiFi.

Yeah I know. But the fact that I had it and now it's gone kills me. Lol.

EDIT: Oh hey, I'm on IPv6 now. Yay!

Hi,

House type: 3 storey terrace
Size of house: About 4000 sqft
Features required: Stable connection
Number of devices connected to WiFi: About 10 at any one time
Internet Speed: 800mbps Unifi
Budget: About RM500

Currently using Unifi's TP Link AC1200 and it's at the master bedroom on the second floor.

I don't really have a problem right now but the router is old (nearly 10 years I think and 24/7 non stop) and recently, rebooting the router always takes it into a reboot loop and instead of the usual 3-5 minutes, sometimes it will take an hour just to reboot.

It just reboots, everything ok for like 20 seconds, then it reboots again. But when it stops doing that, I can go on for months without rebooting.

So just in case it does reboot again and decides to never come back, I'd like to change to a new router.

Just a little background - I was ok with the older D-link white+orange router. Then Unifi changed to this, which I am ok as well despite my house being 3 storeys. Maybe the placement of my router is ideal, ie middle of the house and on the middle floor. I just need to be able to watch youtube/tiktok at all rooms and I'm happy. I don't really need mesh now but it's a good feature to have when my children decides to do things that are more demanding.

Any recommendations?

After reading a few pages from this thread, it looks like the consensus is that the ASUS RT-AX86U Pro is a good router. And since my original Unifi TP Link AC1200 looks like it's dying soon (Frequently reboots itself, sudden speed drops), I placed an order for the ASUS.

I just hope that it solves my problems and hopefully this is a good enough deal. Please ignore the mousepad. Lol
