My wire was initially the same length as the last bracket, but now it is longer than the last bracket already. When I touch the end of the wire that poked out, it seems less sturdy than the other parts of the wires which wouldn't move a millimeter at all even when you touch it with great pressure. Means it kind of move like 1 mm when I touch it, like not as stable as the other parts of the wire. Is it normal or this means my teeth is showing progress? Because it is only four days, I don't think show progress shown so fast right?

Added on January 8, 2011, 11:13 ameven 2 ~3 days, the teeth will move without notice. Just check each of bracket to ensure none of it loose, then the extra length of wire means your teeth have some movement.

The brackets aren't loose at all, still stick very hard, so it is fine right?

@`twinkles, did he put like a stopper for you ? You know, like that waxy thing in the middle. It happened to me before, when the wire had some extra length behind. I thought it was the movement of my teeth but actually the wire just moved =(

He didn't put any stopper for me. Ha, then should I go and consult him?

No worry, let it be till next appointment. Unless it turn too long and poke you till you can't stand then go to see doc to cut it off.

I am so demotivated and feel like giving up already although it is only 5 days. It was worse than what I thought. I mean there's not much pain for me. Eating is still OK, I don't usually enjoy eating(I diet all the time haha) so cannot eat nice food is still OK. It is just that I could not bear with the excessive teasings of me. My sister was always telling how ugly I am and when I talked I seemed to be talking with my lips pouted. My sister is seriously inconsiderate and insensitive. I can just say, there are lots of negative comments from her. She wasn't intending to hurt me, but it is just her character. My friends were saying I am too old for braces and my bf doesn't find me attractive anymore now(not to brag here, but I used to be having quite perfect features to be called beautiful except for the ugly set of rabbit deep bite teeth). It is going to be Chinese New Year soon, and my relatives are very sarcastic. I don't feel like going back to hometown due to this reason. How pathetic. I feel so regret now. Only my younger sister and my mum are very supportive, my younger sister always tell me I am going to be really pretty for the rest of my life by only suffering for two years and my mum thinks about creative ways to cook for me everyday.

I seriously need some support now.

Come on, don't you see everyone of braces who "graduate" , sure happy with the decision that took the braces.

Let me tell u in point form.

- People like to make joke with other. The more you react, they even happy with it. So, you must accept and confident with your braces. As you are walking to a right path to be even more pretty !!! (I been tell this in this forum many time)

- Have you notice friend surrounding you? 80% of them, their teeth is not tidy nicely. You, who wear the braces, for sure your teeth with better than them !

- People who like to tease you, just ignore them. After few times of teasing without your responses, they will bored and used to it and stop teasing you anymore.

- As your partner, hmm.. my following word may a bit bad. If he is love you, with the changes of your look, he will not love you anymore ? Some more it is not permanent wearing braces for life. It will remove eventually.. You should be confident with it and influent him to accept it. He is going to have even pretty gf later !

- Too old for braces ? A lot working adult starts wear braces after 30, some after 40 ! and I am the person who on later 30 !!! As said, nowaday people like to chat with me, i believe due to i have good smile now (of course, friendly too)~

I might be lucky, cause no one tease me before. Not many bother to ask anything about my braces

be patient.after 2 years,u can open ur mouth smile as big as u can in front of ur sis,bf and relatives.

U hv my full support too. I had my braces when I was 27 years old. Turning 29 this year n I'm still under treatment. I get tease too but I dun care cos I hv become more beautiful by day.

At times I get teases also, but it don't bother me cos I know I hv better teeth than them. As for attractiveness, I tell u, many guys that I met told me they like girls with braces, n they find me attractive.

As a late 20's working adult, many of my clients/suppliers tot I look way younger. Probably bcos of the braces!

Now, I will make comments on those with ugly teeth. Find guys with messy teeth is a disaster! Haha...

Since wearing braces, many ppl around me told me they wanna get their teeth done also. Some older colleagues asked me abt it n thinking to get their childrens teeth fixed also.

Dont worry, keep logging in this forum n u will find supports n encouragements here.

Ps: kissing with braces is not a prob at all.

Mhmm if its too much of a hassle, then just wait till your next appt ! For me, it poked the side of my mouth till it was so sore for days, I had to go back ! Don't worry, people with braces can look good too ! 2 years can be quite a long wait, but time will not stop passing

Added on January 10, 2011, 6:33 pmOh my God ! Just extracted one wisdom tooth that is only 1/4 showing, quite a painful one since its a minor surgery, and another tooth above my wisdom. Also, inserted one mini screw today. I hope it wouldn't hurt too bad after the anaesthetic wears off. I have 2 more tooth and 3 more minis to be inserted in 2 weeks time -.-" Bummer ! I wonder how long would it take for it to heal and remove stitches !

`twinkles, I sympathizes with your problem.

1. Friends and family members' opinions
Let you be the pioneer, the first to get braces. Maybe in the future, you never know who will follow your lead?! Forgive them as they are not sensitive about your feelings. They do not know what they are doing. One thing for sure, the outcome of your braces will definitely surprise them! . It is also an experience where you get to learn how to ignore unnecessary comments and take what is useful.

2. Boyfriend

Well forgive him as well for not being sensitive and not being understanding. Your treatment, just like kentcp said, it will not go on forever! So, give it some time because the proof will come out by itself as the time goes by.

A boyfriend should play a part of admiring the inner beauty of his girlfriend and also giving support to her esp. when she is undergoing braces treatment. It is actually a good opportunity for him to learn to be more understanding and for you both to grow in your relationship and learn how to accept, respect, support and help each other despite the situations and circumstances.

Added on January 11, 2011, 8:41 amThe last time I had my lower wisdom tooth extracted was a painful experience too and cheek "lebam". The pain stopped the next day and I could eat anything even though the cheek was still swollen but not painful. The stitches that I had melted away after a few days by itself... But for the wound to really heal, I forgot but healed bit by bit as time went by, I think took quite a long time but most importantly tak sakit! Hope you're okay dear!

May I ask the reason for having so many screws?

Tomatonz: Omg the screw is hurting like the side of my cheeks so badly ! I didn't know it has a head on top, like normal screws. Now I feel like I have a piercing there, like a earring blocking ! I'll get used to this right ? Omg it takes so long to heal? I'm still on liquid today ! Some chicken here, dare not eat ! When did you started your braces yeah? How come your progress is so much earlier than mine

2 screws on the upper to lessen my gummy teeth and 2 on the botton to push my bite inner

Nowaday, the healing is quite fast compare to old time. Just a 2~3 days, you can touch the screw without much painful.. I feel quite surprising on that time actually. Well, after sometime, you will get used to it with those screw. No worry much As Teddy they all said, just don't press the area on the lips there will do. You will notice by yourself one how to prevent it get hurt.

Thanks for your reply kent. I've been feeling very down today, don't know how much more I have to go through, and there's no one to rant to because they don't know the uncomfort. But its true, the side of my mouth hurts so bad. It will be okay in a weeks time ? Besides wisdom extraction & screws, later on, what else will hurt more than this?

Sorry to hear that. For my time, I dun feel so much pain during the healing process. I feel more pain during the extraction when the anesthetics is over.

The hurting is bcos of ulcer? If ulcer, then try to put dental wax over the screws to prevent scrubbing.

Take care on oral hygiene, gargle with mouthwash. The healing will be faster.
