Hey people, my tooth are relatively straight, the only problem is my jaw is kinda protruding. The middle line of my upper & lower tooth doesn't meet anymore, which means my jaw is moving one side. Will braces be of any help? Thanks in advance

What do u mean by ur jaw moving to one side? Do u mean ur upper and lower jaw are not symmetrical?
If yes, i'm sure braces can help ur condition. Where
else u mention abt ur gum issue, depending how serious it is. IF not very serious, it can be treated via ortho treatment but also depends very the doctor provide the service.

Get some advice from dental surgery clinic and orthordontic clinics maybe?

I agree better get advice from the experts. Many orthodontics and dental clinic provides free consultation. Even if it's not free, the charge is not too high.

Thanks for the advice guys, but I have consulted one orthodontic in PJ. He told me the braces wouldn't help with my "not symmetrical jaw" problem & he asked me to go for a jaw surgery. I wanted to clarify if that was true, because I'm not that keen in getting a surgery sad.gif

kentcp, karynkhoo, NikkiDaTeddy thanks for your opinion. I visited that doctor only because people said he was good. Guess I gotta find a new place. Do you have any recommendations around Dmnsara Utama PJ ? And where is Dr How located? Thanks in advance smile.gif

so what did Dr. How said? jst braces will do? no surgery required?

u'll soon find the 7k is worth the price! Cheers!

Hmm he said braces will prevent my joints from being painful in future and it will slightly correct the jaw.
In years to come, it will look better. He didn't exactly suggested a jaw surgery, but last time I thought of getting one.
I'm a bit afraid of it. Anyone has experience ? smile.gif

No worry, keep think it on possitively.. Soon it will over when your teeth moved. Some of us already passed through the period. Pain always is good for braces, as the teeth start moving.. Cheers..

Den, for Damon system that I used, it have no feel for first 2 days. On 3rd day, I only feel the pain in gradually for near to week. This is normal, as the 1st wire is still very thin.. soon, it will change to thicker and thicker, whenever it change or re-position, you will feel the pain for few day.

Its very difficult for me to chew with the blocker on my back teeth sad.gif
The rest of my teeth can't touch each other, like my mouth is always open !
Was it like that for you too ?

d_chew, haha it has been 2 days and I think I'm already lacking energy, not enough of food !!
mhmm yes, i think younger people's teeth tend to move easier. but no worries, time passes by so fast !!

hjh87, hmm my blocker is like stucked onto my bottom teeth sad.gif It's like a kind of clay/mixture that's temporary.
But a few pieces here and there already cracked =/

den, I drink lots of liquid like milk and milo ! haha its the easiest to swallow.
Hmm I think its easy to speak properly if you don't mind the braces rubbing on your gums.
I speak well if I use the wax on my braces =x

I dont understand why you need a blocker. And what is a blocker? I didn't have that when I put on braces..
*
It simply blocks the upper and lower teeth from touching one another. Cause one of my teeth is out of alignment, so if he doesnt put that blocker, the metal part of the my upper braces will be like destroyed by my lower teeth.
You should be happy you don't need it ! sad.gif

QUOTE(NikkiDaTeddy @ Mar 26 2010, 05:23 PM)
Some ppl have the blocker on for longer time. I believe it depends on the situation. I experienced the same thing when i had it on. But however, i grind teeth in my sleep. So the blocker chipped bit by bit. I still had it on (1 yr edy), but its very very small piece left only, So it didnt affect me when i eat.

I still swallow my food, for eg: noodles. Even sausage. I bite and chew just a bit to make it smaller piece, then swallow in... I think its a habit edy.
*
Hahah exactly ! Mine's only 2 days old and its chipping off so fast. You're so patient !
You totally deserve good results !

QUOTE(kentcp @ Mar 26 2010, 05:30 PM)
yup.. be "creative" to make the porridge by adding something, to make it taste good and balance nutrition. smile.gif
*
Woah I think you made me snap into reality. I thought he wasn't serious about 6 weeks.
I can't imagine eating this way for a month plus ! But then again, I may just get use to it.
Problem is I don't cook at home and .. its troublesome when I can't simply eat outside.
Hectic life !

Owh haha I know what you mean when you feel like crying. It's terrible ! You feel like some sick patient that couldn't eat majority of the food. Hmm thanks for telling me, at least I can prepare myself to go through what I have to, in future ! ahah oh ya, is it a must to be using the Pearldrop gel toothpaste and Oral-B rinse everyday? The toothpaste is quite costly =/
