hlee09 & Anespian: Thanks for the info on the wedding part.. I didnt have the chance to ask Dr about it... Hopefully when my braces had to be taken off for wedding shoot, my teeth would be straight by then... haha...

I'm in my late 20s too touching 30 very soon too.. wow... feel glad that there are a bunch of late 20s who are in the same boat and willing to share their experiences!

actually i did not confirm with dr whether its damon 3 or 3MX. but i remember dr told me tat damon 3 is not good so i assume he's not using that anymore. then i checked online n found that the 1 i'm having should b damon 3MX. u cah double confirm with dr next time u c him.

cool! i like it alot coz it's not attracting attention. my job requires me to deal wit lots of ppl and meet new ppl vry frequently. it would be so disturbing if they keep staring at my teeth or pay more attention to my braces than wat i'm saying to them!

btw, nikidateddy & anespian.. did u had problem of bracket loose/break? how often tat happen?

Added on June 23, 2010, 9:13 ambtw, anyone quit coffee after put on braces? i need a cup every morning to perk myself up, 'wise i'll become a zombie for the rest of the day. i'm so worried i might have to drink cold coffee with straw later since coffee stains isnt it?

To avoid attention is my concern when i chose innovation C in the beginning. Regards to brackets falling off and break. I'm on it for 18months already, havent encounter any breakage.

As for bracket falling off. It only happen recently. I assume bcos the glue that doctor use now is not as good? I dunno...Before that, i had it for one year and no cases of falling off. Basically only one brackets will fall off in one month. I'm lazy and will only fix it on my next appt. So far 3 times of bracket fall out case for me. But i know some ppl face this case more.

About your worries on discolouring, i'm not a coffee lover but i have curry food very often. U know how those spices can stain also...But it wont stain ur brackets. It will only stain ur powerchain or rubberbands. We get to change powerchain every month anyway, so i dun bother avoiding curry or sambal... But if u're not on powerchain, basically no worries on that.

For those who are on traditional braces, they hav the rubber bands all over their brackets, that's why they worry alot about discolouring...

I've got one of my bracket loose after 3 days. Er...prob due to glue not yet harden fully & it loosen during teeth brushing. BTW, i've just put on braces end of last month. No stains visible on my ceramic Damon...yet. No powerbands & rubberhands, so not so worry. My job equires me to meet people all the time. My clients are cool...just that some of my friends just teases me occasionally....at my age.

haha.. same here.. after they tease few more time, they will no mood to tease on this topic anymore..

i read in the forum and in some article saying that if you are wearing Damon braces, teeth extraction is not required. I would just like to know if there is a case where the person is wearing Damon Braces but also required to extract 4 teeth?

Tomatonz, I believe I've read somewhere before tat Damon doesn't necessarily mean extraction can be avoided. Depend on individual's case. If one's teeth r too crowded n his jaw is too small, extraction is a must otherwise the teeth cannot move to d correct position.

Dr told me he has to pull out my 2 upper teeth to correct my overbite. But he wan me to wear my braces for some time b4 he extract. I asked him y n he said he wan the teeth to loosen up abit 1st. Then when he pull out later, I will feel less pain. I've seen my fren who had her teeth pulled out b4 put on braces n she was in pain for days. So pity her.

Luckily my lower teeth r not crowded so can save 2 teeth

I hav 2 more days to enjoy my apple, pear n potato chips..The only consolation I hav is tat I'll manage to get rid of my spare tyre after tis...

Dr told me that i need to extract 4 teeth (2 top & 2 bottom) eventhough am wearing Damon Braces but I forgot to ask Dr, I guess I was nervous when 2 of my upper teeth were extracted... Yeah I wore my braces for 1 month and then only he extracted the teeth with the reason mentioned by hlee09 about less pain after teeth extraction cuz he did mention that my roots were thick...

hlee09: so nice ah only need to extract 2 teeth... leng_leng oso not bad only 3.. hehe...

I'm in early 20s, Fyi my upper teeth is kinda tak "tersusun" (something like most of the japanese girl teeth).

When to consult dentist last month, she asked me to put on braces on top part and need to extract 1 teeth..

My main concern is, one of my friend's friend >< which had braces before.. and the thing is the upper teeth "senget" after removed the braces.. -May I know what caused this?

Your friend didn't wear retainers continuously

The dentist will provide the retainers..?

yes retainers are provided once the braces are removed

i did a mistake by not wearing it cause i can't even talk properly
in the end i threw it away and now my teeth are going to be crooked again

U can still eat fruits and almost everything. But make sure u cut ur apples and pears into small pieces b4 u eat. Dun bite straight from the fruit. Potato chips? no prob at all...

Fried Chicken, pizza, burger? U will soon find ur way to eat them... Key point is, cut them into smaller pieces...

But try to avoid hard food like, deep fried ikan bilis (pan mee or nasi lemak), deep fried yao char kwey, deep fried sotong or chewy food like beef and lamb. Cos u need a lot of effort to chew this kind of food and it will caused ur brackets to fall out. That's how it happen to me...
