not sure what are u advocating, but the cashback will be clawed back.

1/2 (weekday) = make purchase of RM1k, floating amount in MBB records
1/2 1-2mins after 1st step = request refund, MBB still floating
3/2 (weekday) = This part see if Lazada wants to make settlement or not. Let's go with make settlement. U earn 5000 TP.
4/2 = lazada realised u refunded. they credit back 1k to your cc
5/2 = MBB claw back ur 5000 TP

Normally the original payment transaction is reversed so the transaction date remains unchanged, no impact on cashback unless cross month.

However, Lazada's Finance dept is too lazy to process the reversal, they create another payment transaction but with credit amount, still zero sum for 2 unrelated Amex transactions.

Last time i bought a phone via shopee with AMEX and then cancelled the order, the money was deducted then refunded back to my credit card, and I still get the cashback, meaning I spent nothing and earned RM30 cashback
