Frankly speaking, it is not so difficult to find places but you may have better alternatives.

For those staying in Borneo, it is very likely you will buy Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia tickets, Amex is accepted at www.malaysiaairlines.com and www.airasia.com.

A lot of supermarkets and departmental stores in Borneo eg Parkson, Aeon Supermarket and Departmental (Kuching), Lepapa & CS Mini Market (Kuching), Bataras (I cannot confirm as I am not staying in Sabah), Aeon Wellness, Guardian accept Amex, but you may prefer to shop at Servay, Boulevard, Everrise, Everwin etc where Amex is not accepted.

A lot of restaurants and cafes accept Amex as well eg McD and PizzaHut, but you may prefer to use e-wallets (especially Grabpay, Shopeepay and SarawakPay) to pay for better discount/cashback (>5% from ewallet purely, better than cashback from Amex), doesn't matter how to top up the ewallet (assume 0% reward/rebate).

I had been constantly getting full monthly CB from 2011-2019 (except 2015-16 when the cashback scheme was suspended). Not easy to achieve full CB in the past 2-3 years just because ewallets can give better savings nowadays (but not for long term, the business model is not sustainable).

i want to add my new amex card in Boost for top up use, when type ccv, it said invalid ccv.
3 digits right? i follow the number marked at the back of the card. but cannot.

Amex use 4 digit at the front.

simplify your mindset and be happy/positive.
as long as you swiped rm500 on weekends in a year, anything else, you are earning already, its a bonus.

I'll be happy enough to pay 2 x maxis bill and a cheapo rm30 digi for my mum monthly.
total about rm390 per month.

on the occasion i go supermarket on weekends (i try to go on weekdays since pandemic).
pre pandemic, the occasion dining and departmental purchase.
that's good enough for me.

there would be some oddballs from time to time, like renewing car insurance via etiqa, some electronic purchase, optical, etc, etc.

don't need to max out. get other cards to cover other situation.

Some people just want to count every sen in their lives instead of just using it as an additional benefit. Anyway I found something interesting on reddit about using SpayLater on Shopeee to qualify for cashback on weekends while spending on weekdays.
