2.2D got well known engine issue after 50 - 60k km. Not sure if Mazda ever resolved it

2.5T well known for heavy fuel consumption

For me the best engine is actually the 2.5 NA. Reliable and still powerful enough

Which part is BS? 2.5T heavy fuel consumption this is true, dont try to say its not

2.2D engine issues, indeed some owners encounter issues after long run, some did not. Its all over owners group. As I said maybe Mazda resolved it

2.5 NA best engine, this is my own opinion

unfortunately nothing change, only different is some other region drop this Diesel from their market. Us, continue selling. 2.5T many owner raise need to top up engine oil after hit 6k km onwards after EO change, not sure this is norm per design or what.

My company has both of these.
2.5T is around 10 - 10.5km/L if you drive like a normal person in city setting. For a AWD 2.5 Turbo engine this is acceptable.
2.2D engine problem does not occur at 50k-60k. Only a handful of cases happen and mileage above 100k, but for peace of mind this is covered with unlimited mileage warranty from Mazda until August 2030.

You expect someone to drive like a normal person when its a 2.5T? biggrin.gif Most people report 8 - 9 km/L at best and we know why

My bad for the range estimate for 2.2D issues. Still what does that say? Diesel engines are supposedly more reliable than petrol counterparts

So for me the less fussy engine option is the 2.5 NA

2.5T and 2.2D can still be considered if someone knows and ready to accept the other side of the spec sheet. Im not saying they are bad engines

What issue encountered by diesel engine ?

Diesel engine is robust and most diesel car can run 400 to 500 thousand km without issue

Usually problem is with turbo or poor maintenance is the reason. But do share what is the issue as I am a diesel fan.

for other brand yes Diesel is reliable, example BMW diesel 320D and 520D. On Mazda many face diesel engine blown head gasket, until recently they give additional warranty for the engine. still need to fork out few K for puspakom thingy after change new engine under warranty.

Blown gasket ? Is it cast iron block ? Usually diesel engine bulletproof even to piston level due to significant pressure as opposed to petrol engine

I guess modern diesel if using aluminium block this is where problems will crop up

That fc figure is definitely something that will catch someone by surprise if they are not aware of it

Depends whether someone is willing to accept it in exchange for the power

its all depends how heavy foot you are. If on highway, i cruise 140-60 you still get around 7km/l i guess. it will only drop to 6km/l if you do >180 which i try from kl to JB and full tank gone without really reach JB town center.

still kinda thirsty for me....

i think the main issue was the gearbox. FC probably could be better if its a 8 speed instead of 6 speed

You have to check this old forum have a bunch of buyers who paid the deposit and never get back. Mazda HQ gets no control of all this Authorized Dealer, plus they don't want to fight with them because you are small potatoes. if you don't believe me please try to go to Glenmarie HQ complaint other SC, not under Bermaz. They will tell you they can't do anything because not under thier control. Why I knew because I tried. LoL. I don't know you have a feeling on this or not, but I felt Mazda Salesperson is walk and talk with no rules. They promise you the sky and heaven and pricing with no rules. Go to Toyota and Honda you will know what I'm talking about. They have Ruled.

Ayam until now didnt get any refund. SA promised 11/2/2024 but now oredi 21/2/2024 . SAD. Did they purposely delay the refund? Asked the SA , he said dealer oredit processed the payment now waiting slip. Hmmm

hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has experienced driving cx5 and cx8 back to back etc?

As i'm now fulltime site based and driving almost 200km daily, mostly highways and some backroads, and i feel quite tired after every trip.

So was thinking if this is case for our cx5 over long distances? Or maybe the cx8 would be a better choice over such long trips?

I am driving CX 8 High (6 seater with walkway), collected the car on Sept 2023 and mileage almost 6800 kms.
Test drive CX 5 2.5 T and CX 8 High back to back.
Decision on CX 8 because:-
- More specious and legroom for 2nd row passengers. It is a pilot (not captain) seat;
- 3rd row seat is good for height below 180 cm;
- Driving experience, CX5 more pick up (Turbo mar) vs CX8 (2.5 NA) good enough to travel short and long distance;
- Driver experience, CX 8 is long but never felt bulk;

I hope the above helps.

Planning to book CX-5. There are few things want to ask before make final decision
Between 2.5 NA and 2.5T
beside the power different, any other spec different?
what the mileage per liter for 2.5NA and 2.5T?
any specific tip or thing need to look after for turbo engine? never own any turbo engine car so far
any specific tip or thing need to look after for AWD car?
2. The compulsory tint come with CX-5 acceptable in this kind of weather? Saw in CX-30 group, the wind screen area is very sensitive, if water sip in the dashboard during apply tint then would have problem is it the same for CX-5?
3. Any promotion or free gift given by the SA during booking car for all other car owner?
