I actually have no BSOD issues nor bleed that is objectively "bad", but yeah more or less its a lottery - same as it is with any other brand.

TBH, the only real probable "deal-breaker" with the Onyx is the keyboard, as its pretty subjective. For me, I hate that it sometimes double-registers when I don't give it a firm punch, but otherwise I'm okay with it - sound and all.
*
I had once or twice when opening lid of the laptop coming from sleep, it lags and shut down to bios.
Also, apart from the keyboard with its double-registers, I don't like the fact that its trackpad wobble to much when light tapping. Still missed my macbook's trackpad.

As for the windows and usage experience, I think mine had this "lag" causing mouse to jitters and lagging especially if I'm waiting for a software to load.
Will probably drops by Illegear's showroom to have mine checked.

Hi Illegear, do you have the confidence to solve the keyboard double-register problem in a month ? smile.gif

Hi nyunyu, we had one customer who reported the same issue this afternoon and it was resolved after a Windows Update has been performed. Therefore, I would recommend you to complete any available Windows Updates to see whether the issue is resolved.

Hi PotatoDado, I believe that the double-registration phenomenon would only be happening upon touching the keycap without fully pressing the keycap for the registration. However if the issue is caused by a hardware manufacturing issue instead, we would be more than glad to perform a complete keyboard replacement accordingly once inspection is done.

Hi guys, what's the usual temperature while gaming? Suspect that the bsod is related to overheating while gaming.

Not the temperature definitely, the recent BSOD is caused by the old firmware of SSD, you may send in your laptop and we will assist to update the firmware.

I'll see if I can spare some time to drop by your office to have the laptop checked. I usually complete all update if any and so far there is none left that needs updating. Kinda annoying to see the sluggish mouse movements when it happened.

Dear Onyx users, have anyone experience serious lagging in movie playback when the battery level is 30% and below? Mine has serious playback lag and once I plug in the cord, playback return to normal. Cpu and ram usage at the time was normal.

and for the record, all programs were at their recent updates.

For those asking for a more reputable review (isk mine not reputable meh) of the GK5CN Chassis, here's Notebookcheck's review on the XMG Neo 15 (which is pretty much the Onyx with a slightly different keyboard cap and surface finishing): http://bit.ly/2NcKBJy

Well, finally anyway.

Spoiler: Their findings pretty much mirror those in my review TBH, albeit with a lot more in depth details.

It's been quiet here.

Anyone can share what kind of battery life did you get from using Onyx and if there is any tips for tweaking the laptop that you can share?

I personally think that the German version of this laptop, the Schenker XMG Neo 15 has a much better looking keyboard.

Hopefully Illegear will consider giving the option to configure the ONYX with this same style as well in the future.

Anyone here upgraded their panel from 60Hz to 144Hz?
Was thinking to do the same, maybe after 180 days dead pixel warranty as apparently it won't be carried over to the new panel.

We call it Cap 2. It's the latest keycap and it's available for vendors who release the model later. ILLEGEAR is the first to receive ONYX stock so we only have Cap 1 in current ID. Some markets prefer cap 1 and some markets prefer cap 2. We will have the option to choose which kepcap to use in the next refresh.

We can honor the 180 day dead pixel policy after upgrading to 144Hz display, we will not penalize our early ONYX supporters.

How much is the upgrade from 60 hz to 144 hz for existing owner?

That is good news. I'll be sure to mention this during my RMA with you in a few weeks.

Was told it would be RM500 to trade in the 60Hz with the 144Hz. Fees including labor fee as well as color calibration.

and yeah, mine is due for RMA. Got multiple annoying issues since first day hmm.gif :
- Creaking hinges dry.gif
- Random unresponsiveness/jittery/lags/ bangwall.gif
- Fan cranking up with no reason even with no load on cpu/gpu/memory vmad.gif
- Windows starts straight to BIOS, need save BIOS setting before can start Windows icon_question.gif
- Low battery caused stutter media playback sad.gif
- battery life <2 hours with minimal browsing, 25% display brightness, lowest kb brightness, light bar off. shocking.gif
- Turbo fan button no function i.e. nothing happened when pressing. doh.gif

Any expected time until the refresh, Prince J? That will seal the deal for me. Been following the discussion on NBR -including valuable input by our own Eiraku- and the clickety-clicky-look-its-me keyboard isn't something one could ignore, at least not for me. So to have this option is a welcome news thumbup.gif
