i notice ASTRO now have Dolby Atmos in their sound setting ?. Do they offer any Dolby Atmos content ? Either direct from Astro or any of the app ...

Ultra Box does support Dolby Atmos, but it's only available if the 4K UHD channel or On Demand content has it. As what I know today, they don't offer any Atmos content at the moment.
I remember previously during UEFA Euro 2020, they used to offer Dolby Atmos surround only on finals. After that, they pretty much went quiet about Dolby Atmos already.

For streaming apps on Ultra Box, only the Netflix app supports Dolby Atmos. (Reminder: Netflix Premium account required, the RM55/month version)
The rest of the streaming apps on Ultra/Ulti Box like Disney+ Hotstar is only available in Stereo.

I do aware that Ultra/Ulti Box tend to "fake" the audio output format as Dolby audio whenever you launch some other streaming apps, but they can't lie to my ears. doh.gif

So netflix on astro has atmos .. thats new info....currently i only used samsung tv netflix that do not have atmos

strangly..although it mentions as ATMOS on the screen.. my soundbar only register it as DOLBY DIGITAL...

Did you connect HDMI cable from Ultra Box to your soundbar directly?
And what's the brand and model of your soundbar?

no....

now the box is connected to tv and connected to the bar by ARC...

later today I will experiment with the connecting ultrabox to soundbar to pass through to the tv


my soundbar is Samsung q990b.

Oh, if it is connected to your TV first, then make sure the HDMI ARC audio output setting on your TV is set to DD+ rather than just DD.

Hi all, want to ask regarding the blank screen issue of ultibox.

For a bit of context, I changed from HDR to ultibox. After awhile i noticed that the ultibox would have blank screen issue.
And is starting to feel annoying.

I had to power off supply. Power on, then spam power button from astro remote to access the update page. Update software and wait again.
Are there any methods to avoid this frustrating experience?

What was the root issue to this black screen in the first place?

PS. Called customer service, they suspect the box faulty and sent installer to swap ultibox 2 weeks ago.
But the issue continues with the new ultibox.

is it possible to get another decoder (without the sim card)? for example, i need a backup decoder. if one decoder is dead, i can switch to another one.

not possible...

because decoders is linked to sim card...

the old days can... that silver decoders.... just buy some recon units, put simcard into it. can use already...
(me also did that previously - lazy fed up call astro to change. buy from electronic shops tongue.gif )

Hey guys, I just noticed that my astro's 'contract' is ending in June. I am still on legacy pack (Namma Pack + Sports + Thangathirai) ... Will my contract reset or will I be upgraded to a new pack randomly? Quite worried now.

will maintain the package without contract... but they will bug you to switch / "upgrade" to other packs.

My God. I can see where this is going. Their Ultra box has been giving some new issues lately. Can see where this is leading me :') .

Still to this day I regret changing my Byond PVR.

yes... if you want to change the decoder, very likely will need to re-contract. but they will change it for "free" la... (excluding labour)

Byond PVR is still the best till now...

some people I know don't want to change...

they say no use...because No have sports pack...

all others still in HD... sufficient enough maintain same decoder @ PVR box tongue.gif

How did the blank screen issue occur? When you change channel? Or it went blank screen randomly when you're watching a show?

Tried changing to another Hdmi.
while the original hdmi i use it for nintendo switch and is working. So is not hdmi issue.

The blank screen (no hdmi signal) usually occur after some day not watching astro. When wanted to watch turned on the astro box and it says no signal.

I tried let the astro box run without turning off the box. Only switch off the TV when not watching to avoid this issue. Still same behavior persist.
Looks like when not in use the box went into idle mode. Hence, like this. This is the feeling im getting.

I am now a Premium Pack 1 customer having about 14 months to go.Now due to bad economy scenario I am thinking of downgrading to Entertainment Pack priced at RM89.90.Please enlighten me on penalty incurred and how the penalty works,Disney Hotstar got 4 months to finish one year contract while my PP 1 has 14 months to complete 24 months,Thank you in advance

If prepared penalty and long term savings and dont need epl, switch to unifitv.
