Dang I thought they would upgrade the channel. Were pretty much stuck to Assteruk since we have no coverage for Unifi or any other broadcast networks.

Check the satellite cable connecting to SAT IN 2 port at the back of your PVR box.
If the cable is found not to be properly terminated (i.e. easily pulled out even without turning to loosen the cable), it would easily lost the connection to your satellite dish.

You're advised to use electrical tape to wrap around the connector to make sure the connector is secure with the cable.

If it is properly terminated, yet this happens, check your cable connection whether does it connects to any cable splitter or not?

Other than this, then it might be something wrong somewhere with the LNB of your satellite dish up there.

It got resolved once the weather improved so I did not dare to modify it haha. Cuz I hv no knowledge on handling these.

Btw guys I would like to ask about the so called UltraBox upgrade.

1. If I'm staying in a kampung where fibre Internet is basically non existent (im using Celcom Home Wireless), do you think it is worthy to upgrade from Byond PVR to this?

2. The astro + broadband is what actually? Do they come bundled with astro in a form of dongle or something? Or does it require area that has fibre coverage?

3. Is it worthy to upgrade to Ultra over PVR ?

4. Ive been surveying the Ultra box and found that it has microsd and usb 3.0 ... Does this mean it may have PVR enabled in future with a hard disk? Like what happened with PVR EASi box ?

1.  If u wanna try something new and you like Ultra Box very much, and also would love to enjoy Astro UHD channel 780, then sure why not?

As long you are confident that the Celcom 4G network is fast and stable in you area, then go ahead.

2. It is a bundled Astro package that comes with fibre broadband. In the long run, you can save a lot, since it's like combining both Astro and Maxis Fibre services in one Astro bill.

You can forget about this, since your area don't have fibre.
Or, if your area has Unifi Lite (VDSL) coverage, then maximum package you can go is 30Mbps.

3. If you ask Astro, of course their answer is yes.
If you ask me, my answer is "It depends."

4. Those ports are useless for now. It is reserved for future use.
Recording to external storage via USB is not made available to Ultra Box customers yet. For now, Ultra Box will be 100% rely on cloud recording to access to your recordings.

You are advised not to trust blindly by whatever the sales person convinces you. They just want your commission and hit their KPI.
Please do your research before deciding to upgrade to Ultra Box.

To access to your recordings, stream On Demand content, Play from Start, it is highly dependent on Internet connection. Hence, if your Ultra Box is not connected to Internet, the functions will be the same as the usual Astro HD box. Press channel numbers only, and nothing else.
Oh yea, you can still watch Astro UHD ch780. That's the difference.
*
I've been getting these emails from Astro offering free upgrade. Initially thought we can just plug in a HDD and use it as usual but it wasn't the case. They should have provided the HDD as a failsafe but yea its too late. I'm seeing the end of UltraBox just as soon as how Astro Max ended.

The end of Ultra Box? Nahhh... Comparing with Astro Max is out of the context.
It also acts as a replacement for PVR box.
*
I mean not literally, but for people like me who is waaay further from a decent hi-speed Internet coverage would not want to upgrade to this as the box is highly dependant on the Internet. That is why I'm thinking if Astro would bring up another improved set just like what it did for the PVR (initially without the WiFi) and introduce Astro Ultra that actually supports local storage. This is because I believe most part of our country is still lacking behind in the hi-speed coverage.

Is there anyone STILL using the Astro Max box? I've always been curious to see how the box works and how their EPG looks like. Even YouTube has not much info about this box. Haha.

Guys I need yr help. Ever since the PVR auto updated my TV seem to have this weird ghosting thingy atleast once an hour. It annoys us the most when the black part of the screen gets some kind of foggy ghosting. Is this one of Astro's cheap tricks to make us change the box?

Also, is Astro Vellithirai planned for an upgrade to HD?

Well, I don't exactly know what's the actual full detailed story behind this customer's issue, but things like this does raise my eyebrows  shocking.gif

...because technically and theoretically, although it is not publicly proven yet, but it might be possible for Astro to flip a "death switch" on its set-top-boxes, let the customer experience some sort of "malfunction" on the box, hence forcing the customer to replace to a new box. Like I said, that is just my guess. So don't take my words seriously, and just take this as a pinch of salt.  unsure.gif

Cuz who knows, it might be coincidentally, some satellite dish misalignment or satellite cable issue. sweat.gif

Idk if my case is relevant, but lately after the update on my PVR box it started giving some troubles. Like my scheduled recordings glitch at some point and even won't completely record the whole duration. Everyone is aware of those weird gray pixelation that sometimes occur on the TV. Also my box have been freezing crazily like the controls wont even change the channel or the box simply stops responding. A reset didn't help too. Idm what dirty trick astro is playing. Honestly speaking the Ultra box is not for everyone. And these sudden problems faced by PVR users is quite fishy too. Sorry I might be wrong but Astro is definitely doing something fishy.

Any new channels coming anytime soon? Like we heard rumours that KTV HD will be made available on Astro as well as Sun Music HD ... Yet only Sun Music was upgraded (which idek why cuz not all opt into music 24/7). Even Astri Vellithirai HD also no story ready krikยฒ ny. Haiiyaa soo boring Astro nowdays.

Hey sorry for interrupting. But lately my Astro Byond PVR is showing those weird pixelation effect way too often. Is there any workaround for this? Contacting astro will only ask me to upgrade to Ultra. The weird foggy issue is getting bad and I really wish to see a fix for this. Thank you.

I think even SD channels get the pixelation effects. Like CH 202.

Hi can someone tell me if the replacement PVR box that I received is the newer version or old? My previous PVR box has these white buttons on the right and was slightly longer than the old HDTV box. This replacement however has the same white button design but is way longer. Is this the PVR v2 box?

I got this replacement box due to the flash flood that happened in Seremban last week. This decoder is longer it seems.

I'm here still wondering what on Earth is taking astro so long to turn Vellithirai to HD and give us a new channel. They already removed 3 good ones with the reason of poor viewership and did not even bother to replace them. Crappy sial. If only we had other pay tv services that gives same quality content ๐Ÿ˜”
