Honestly, after being used to the broadband prices in Malaysia, I don’t mind if they do not pressure the providers to offer cheaper and faster plans.

What I hope that they can do is to remove any monopoly in the industry. When this is done, prices will come down eventually as a result of the providers being more competitive.

Unifi services using Magic Box for non-FTTH/VDSL customers.
It was hinted a few month ago the Unifi Magic Box service would be launched in mid-2018.
Unifi Magic Box services may be cheaper than Unifi Lite!

Hi,

I want to install Unifi 30Mbps. Been waiting a while mainly due to unavailability in another location [planning to shift by end of the year]. Now that, both the current area and the other area got Unifi coverage, anything I should know before subscribing to it?

I've heard talks of higher speed/less prices but chances they'll be implemented in the near future [3-6 months, possibly earlier]?

p/s: current speed = 4Mbps.

Thanks.

Get it install now before port runs out. Later when need package with lower price and or faster speed comes out then just go complain at tm point to get discount. Currently the pricing is garbage, definitely not worth it but if all you have is 4Mbps then unifi 30Mbps is like heaven.

Good point, didn't consider that. Just curious, supposed the ports at the place I'm supposed to shift to runs out, could we request for more ports?

True that the pricing is high, but compared to what I'm paying for 4Mbps, 30Mbps is almost 6 times cheaper [price per mbps].

Thanks.

Can request new port but gonna wait forever because TM is lazy AF don't want spend extra money unless got crazy high demand for new subscribers. The cheapest unifi 30Mbps to date is RM139 (not including gst) but that offer ended a couple of months back. Will it return? Perhaps. Might even be cheaper but for now the RM179 is stupidly expensive for 30Mbps. What to do right, Malaysia broadband monolopy sigh.

Hi guys, it is confirmed that after TM automatically cancelled my HyppTV package (old Ruby) due to the fact that I am also subscribing to Jumbo and Jumbo is now all in, they have added the price of old Ruby package (RM40) back into my High Speed Broadband, by reducing my discount on High Speed Broadband by RM40. Basically my bill remain the same.

I am lodging an official complaint through SKMM soon once the actual bill is generated. This is ridiculous. I was paying RM100 for 2 HyppTV packages for ages and now that they have reduced the HyppTV package price, but I am not going to enjoy it? Good job TM. I wish the new government is going to give you a really hard time.

I see. That's a pickle. I'll ask the TMPoint here on how/what to do. Can you reserve a port? tongue.gif

RM179 is expensive compared to the promo that was up but during that time, there weren't Unifi coverage here sadly. Anyhow, for RM40 bump up, I'll be getting 7x times more the speed, so for now, that okay for me smile.gif Hopefully, the price will reduce as the Ministry of Com said.

Thanks for helping me out.

It has over 1.8 million ready ports (last-mile access points) in major cities and towns for high-speed broadband (HSBB) that can be used to serve over two million customers. By July this year, it will launch a “magic box” to reach out to a wider population to offer its triple play proposition of Internet-voice-entertainment.

It will ride on its existing networks – HSBB, streamyx, mobile and even copper – and cater to the different market segments, including young parents, students and youths, thereby addressing affordability and behavioural demands in its quest to wire up the nation.

1Mbps also they can call triple play, play 144p video hyptv + call using skype +browsing kopitiam text with no picture in it(low bandwith). its nothing new lol, we have seen this since streamyx era. problem is who want to watch 144p nowadays?. their so called triple play is a very loose term. if they say HD(720p) entertainment hyptv, Internet, voice(ip phone), then it will be good for nationwide.
