QUOTE(luvjim @ Mar 19 2018, 10:01 AM)
morning all, any suggestion on place to stay?
1) which near to disneyland/disneysea? coz we plan to buy the 2 day pass, so i'm thinking if stay nearer will save the traveling time. then after only move back to shinjuku/shibuya. coz bringing 2 kids along, 3yo and 5yo.

List of hotels affliated with Tokyo Disney

http://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/hotel/lists/

2)lake kawaguchiko, looking for the place which can have the view of the lake and the mt fuji.
i've try to look for few places, but is either near the train station which very convenient but dont have good view of the mt.fuji, and some i'm not sure whether is really can view to mt.fuji or not if based on the photo given of the airbnb/hotel. coz i just read based on the guests review. so hope if anyone been there can recommend some good ones.  notworthy.gif

To get the lake + Mt Fuji view, you need to stay at the northern side of Lake Kawaguchi. And be prepare to pay premium especially during peak period. Don't worry about distance. Usually the hotels will have their own shuttle bus to pick you up from the train station

Last time I stayed in Mizuno Hotel

i'm planning to board train to lake kawaguchiko. i found this guide is useful, would it be easier since we have 2 kids ?

Yesterday I have made one of the fastest decisions in my life: booked a flight to Osaka (KIX) after I saw the cheap airfare without knowing anything about travelling to Japan and the Kansai region!

This is my very early draft itinerary (only me and hubby). I just want to make sure that the route that I take is ok and could save time & especially travelling cost by rail.

We want to make this trip a relaxed one and we don’t mind walking long distance since the weather is cool in November. We prefer to walk outdoors, admire the beautiful autumn foliage and we are not keen on indoors i.e. museum, exhibition, etc.

Travel date: 8 November 2018 to 19 November 2018

Day 1 (8 Nov): evening flight to Osaka (KIX)

Day 2 (9 Nov): reach KIX about 7am > take train to Kyoto > check in hostel > explore the city (to plan for places to go later) > overnight in Kyoto

Day 3 (10 Nov): Kyoto sightseeing (to plan for places to go later) > overnight in Kyoto

Day 4 (11 Nov): Kyoto sightseeing (to plan for places to go later) > overnight in Kyoto

Day 5 (12 Nov): check out hostel > take train to Osaka > check in hostel in Osaka > lunch > explore the city > overnight in Osaka

Day 6 (13 Nov): Universal Studios (it’s on Tuesday, we hope the crowd will be lesser)

Day 7 (14 Nov): Wake up a bit later due to full day at USJ > Osaka sightseeing & shopping

Day 8 (15 Nov): Day trip to Nara

Day 9 (16 Nov): Day trip to Kobe or Wakayama? Which one is better?

Day 10 (17 Nov): Osaka sightseeing & shopping

Day 11 (18 Nov): Osaka sightseeing & shopping

Day 12 (19 Nov): check out hostel early in morning for 1030am flight back home > take train to KIX

From the dates above, would I be able to catch the beautiful autumn foliage at Kyoto, Nara and Osaka? Is the rough itinerary above ok and makes sense?

Kyoto and Osaka are like KL and Selangor. Why stay here and there? Personally, I'll pick one spot, and stay there throughout the days.

don't listen to him laugh.gif

stay 1 place in Kyoto and 1 place in Osaka is correct. unless you don't mind wasting time going to Kyoto back and fourth throughout your Kyoto itinerary

Depending on how much luggage you carry.

If carry alot, better to just stay at one place, travel time between Kyoto and Osaka is only 45min to 1hour so its not that long, not that short too, but having to change accommodation in between, carrying the heavy load of luggage is quite troublesome, furthermore if so happen you travel during rush hour it cause inconvenience to people commuting to work as bulky luggage taking up space in the train.

Stay in Osaka and Kyoto is correct considering u have longer days.

Everyday going back at forth is also tiring and time consuming.

it's basic fare + supplement fee of 410yen. so total fare is about 1400yen compare to 2200yen for Skyliner Limited Express

not going for halloween...but it's ok

at least you did your homework before asking here for suggestions, the places to visit can plan slowly since still got 7 months to go
but better book accommodations earlier to avoid surprises

the fare 1400yen effective from what time to what time?

How about Taking Access Express Direct from Asakusa station to Narita airport without need to transfer. It cost only 1290yen and take around 1 hour to airport. Anyone taken this ride before? mind to share...

I got 2 luggage, a stroller and a 2yo kid, so changing station up and down the staircase can be a hassle.

Which train is more effective?

If you still looking for stay at Fuji five lake. Can consider Yamadaya Hotel at Lake shijo. Its far from the station but consider cheap. RM400 with onsen facing the fuji. Easily RM1200 within kawaguchiko lake with onsen. Some doesnt even have view.

Bookings

I booked for April season for RM400 per night, get to use the onsen for 30mins for free.
However because i added breakfast and traditional dinner total up to RM800.

Took Japanese traditional room and the rooms also facing fuji! no need purposely wake up and go out to camp.

Super friendly owner, She even help me buy Studio Ghibli tickets rclxm9.gif

Its depends on you whether u ok to travel go and return 2 days. I just back from osaka and I stay 1 place throughout my trip bcox I malas mau carry luggage here n there. JR train from Osaka to Kyoto using the S.Rapid Service is fast. 30 mins reach kyoto. This train only have 2 stops only in between osaka and kyoto. So travel time doesnt cost that much actually.

Can try 1 day go himeji castle le... I found it quite nice.

Ya, just read up most of them provide free shuttle to train or to the stores if you need too.
That would really help. If only 2 person, I don't mind the troublesome, but with kids...really cannot sweat.gif
