Do you think it's a good idea to look for flight tickets during MATTA fair in March for trip to Hokkaido in mid June? hmm.gif I'm afraid it might be too close to the flying dates that there will be no cheap tickets. BTW, how cheap is cheap for flights to Hokkaido? hmm.gif

Yes. It’s Inclusive of meals, luggage, seat selection & insurance.

This will be my 3rd visit to Japan though. The deal is too tempting for me to ignore 😅

QUOTE(swn525 @ Mar 19 2018, 11:43 AM)
AirAsia, sometime can get RM260 for return osaka, without add-on
*
I think that will also depends on the date of travel. And the time you check in AA website. Different time, it'll prompt a different price.

Kyoto and Osaka are like KL and Selangor. Why stay here and there? Personally, I'll pick one spot, and stay there throughout the days.

QUOTE(yoonyin @ Apr 5 2018, 05:30 PM)
I think minimum at least Rm10 in your prepaid card instead of Rm50. Because 4 months back while i'm in China, i'm using Digi prepaid for roaming, I only top up Rm60 to buy twice Rm25+Rm25 pass for 6 days.

Anyway, i going to Kyoto/Osaka this coming Sunday. I will update you on this method. But i'm very sure there is no such rules to maintain rm50 balance to purchase roaming data.  biggrin.gif
*
Ohh. Means the pass is applicable to prepaid only? I remember postpaid has something similar. Remember using it in Singapore.

Easy because it got Cable Car going Up.
If Hiking also Pretty easy for me due to Living at Tokyo, every weekends going hiking Mt Takao (400M)

Compare to Hiking Mt Kinabalu / Mt Fuji.......Mt Hiei just rookie level

Aha. Cool. I'll be there in November, it gotta be cold. Anything particular to lookout for, maybe? Leeches. Wild dogs. Wild boars. Checked in YouTube, there are signs of bears?!

Hi, I am just back from Japan trip.
I use a bus from Tokyo station to Lake Kawaguchiko using https://japanbusonline.com/en/CourseSearch/11500410001
Actually I stay at Akihabara, it's just 2 subway station away from Tokyo station
thanks for the reply. when you were at tokyo station, was it difficult to find the bus that you have to board? Was everything manageable? any apparent problem one might have to face when trying to board a bus there?
*

[/quote]
I had a close call 2 years ago. I didn't realize I'm supposed to book the tickets in advanced. I was ignorant, my fault.

When I got at the station, all tickets sold out. I was put on hold, awaiting for other passengers whom may FFK. Luckily, there was one FFK, and I managed to get a ticket, then. Otherwise, I would have to wait for the next bus, which still, I'll be in the waiting list.

The moment I step out from the bus in Kawaguchiko, I headed straight to the counter and purchased a ticket back to Tokyo.

A self reminder, though, always book tickets in advanced.

Thanks man. Im trying to find a service provider that can give me the least headache, since im not able to speak japanese nor understand it. Online booking can be done, but I hope I wont face any problem trying to board the bus.
*
I don't remember which online ticketing system for that bus. But there is one, maybe other members here can share?

No leeches , wild dog  and boars. Hiking Trail are very well maintained until no challenge.

Sounds like fun. But you didn't remark on the bear sign. Does it mean you encounter one before? tongue.gif

QUOTE(fun_feng @ Apr 17 2018, 10:10 AM)
No no problem at all, just ask the bus guy with uniform, they will tell u
Yes actually I book in advance tickets for 2 different days. Then I check the weather a few days before the trip and cancel the other ticket...
*
Yes. Super important to book in advanced. If all the bus passengers were there, no one FFK at all, I'll end up sleeping on the streets. LOL.

I think, Japan airport custom don't kacau, but mostly OUR local custom may be a trouble. I had a few boxes of Gundam (MG), I went through without any problem (they don't even look at me!). But I did hear some stories, depending on luck, kena kacau from our local custom. In fact, I was told that they do have the rights to check and they are supposed to check, too, yeah? Just that most of the time, if not always, they kacau because they wanted duit kopi. That's all.

Mmmmm, I wonder if their Mavic Air is cheaper over there in Osaka. hmm.gif

Returned from 8 days trip to Osaka-Kyoto-Kobe. Just wanna share.

Stayed only in Osaka with 1 day trip to Kobe and 2 days trip to Kyoto.

Kiyomizu-dera is indeed potong steam with the netting over it for restoration work. Good thing I didn't purposely wake up early for it.

After visiting quite a number of shrine, decided to skip a few such as Ginkaku-ji and Shitennoji to make the itinerary less hectic. Basically not a tourist who really into the history of each shrine so after a few its no longer that interesting to spend energy getting to each of them  sweat.gif

[attachmentid=9738553]

[attachmentid=9738562]
Kobe's mount Maya's view is great, but its freezing cold, camp indoor while I waited for nightfall for night view.

[attachmentid=9738569]
Kobe Port

[attachmentid=9738571]
Kinkaku-ji was nice but that's all, no real garden or parks around it.

[attachmentid=9738584]
If got time, recommended to rent bicycle to explore Arashiyama (Kyoto) area, nice and serene. Will be too tired if walk instead.

[attachmentid=9738589]
Expensive lunch at Kobe Beef Dining モーリヤ (https://goo.gl/maps/Nr2jVhJCUqK2), recommended to make booking cuz very small restaurant with very limited seats, I reach at 12.30pm but since didn't book I had to book for 1.30pm slot instead. It really melts in your mouth.  thumbsup.gif

Total 8D8N spent about RM6k including flight, accommodation, USJ, Kobe Beef for 2, and light shopping.
*
One day trip to Kobe, sounds interesting. Join tour or jalan sendiri? I'm still contemplating on the Golden/Silver Pavilion if it's worth the time. My intention is to go there shoot, and that's it. Arashiyama, must go for the shot of the river and the bamboos. Bicycle... I can hardly remember the last time I ride on one, LOL!

All jalan sendiri. Kobe just reach there during lunch time, have Kobe beef, then go have a walk at by the Port. Evening take the cable car up to Mt Maya, wait night, then come back down, and head back to Osaka. Note that Mt Maya cable car for night only available on weekends, weekdays by 5pm need to come back down already so plan your trip on weekend.

I decided to skip Silver Pavilion so can't comment, but the Golden Pavilion is really like what I've never seen before so its worth it.

Lol learn to ride the bicycle, its so much less tiring than walking and can save so much time.
*
Kobe. About an hour train ride. Mmmmm. Objective there is for Kobe beef. Interesting... Thanks! I may skip some places in Osaka and Kyoto. And head West to Kobe for a day trip, instead. Earliest train would get me there early in the morning for a hike up the mountain, and access to the Nunobiki waterfall. But to wait for nightfall for the view, that's a pain in the butt. Mt Rokko and the Akashi Kaikyo sounds good, too. hmm.gif

Bandai. Yes.

Back to Japan. I find that Den Den Road in Osaka tend to be cheaper than in Tokyo. But you'll have to find them, small shops, not those BIC or Yodoyabashi.
