My free labour service ended dy, next labour onwards will be more expensive, thinking of duwan go sc, buy own oil and parts and labour bawah pokok much cheaper. But not sure I need to claim warranty for any other vulnerable parts or not for the next 1.5 years.

Guess the normal wear and tear parts any car will also need to change. No specific any special parts that fail more often like power windows or door handles in older proton models. Lol.

But... don't expect proton spare part prices. It's a rebadged... ahem... lala...

trolling aside, just hope that your clutch pump fail as soon as possible (within warranty period) so that you can get it replaced for free.

I read from those who experience the clutch pump failure that it only happened once, after replaced it will be fine.

Mine failed after 10k mileage, still within warranty, left it few days at SC then collect it back without any fuss.
*
QUOTE(CompMac @ Dec 6 2017, 10:40 AM)
Ditto... Mine failed at 20k+ km... Got the whole set replaced FOC... They included the clutch as well but could be suspect of inside job to get new clutch for themselves... Hopefully it'll either die again before the 3 year warranty ends or never die at all...  bangwall.gif

I thougt the pump failed at 40k+ mileage is the earliest record... looks like im wrong. tongue.gif

Did my research.
These are the 2 parts in Inspira 1.8 manual that usually fails (commonly referred to as clutch pump)

Clutch Master Cylinder (Located next to brake fluid reservoir)
Concentric Slave Cylinder (Located inside the gearbox)

Did not want a Proton anymore. Whole life driving Proton.
Go in looking for Toyota, but come out with another Proton.

Actually my family has a Saga BLM, no problems. But a lot of rattles, engine noise, interior plastics starting to get brittle and loose, but it is better than the 2001 Iswara we had before that. Iswara had issues with aircond compressor/condenser, distributor, valve seals, power window motors, lock actuator, alarm, fuel gauge, odometer, ignition, and probably a few more that I've forgotten. All of this within 7 years of ownership.

My 92 Saga was way better than the 01 Iswara. We used it for 16 years. Changed only leaking condenser, and other wear stuff. Everything else original including power windows and alarm.

The BLM is still very reliable after 9 years, but it lacks refinement.

I wouldn't trust newer Protons with all the electronic and computerised gadgets, except for the fake Proton I just got.

rm500 really good deal. maybe proton also changed supplier, i asked my friend local proton parts dealer he said rm550+- ori proton and insist make by kayaba also. if both also kayaba which one should i choose doh.gif , and one more question i got suspension vibration from front left wheel, only occur at morning or cold weather and only at bad or uneven road condition. i suspect absordber mounting or lower arm rubber, afternoon or hot day basicly no matter how bad is the road also no sound at all (the vibration make the dashboard left side pin which you all use jbwelding gue fix rattle). because my dashboard rattle b4 at 2000-3000rpm engine speed, same in the morning and cold weather only. then i change all engine mounting settle, no more engine vibration and effect that dashboard pin. now only suspension vibration in morning+bad road condition make my dashboard rattle. anyone got experience with this? or maybe just suspension loose? icon_question.gif

Bro, my car also has same kind of vibration and suspension problem like u comment above.

I intend to change to Mitsubishi Lancer original absorber instead of Inspira 1. Is a good idea? I find Inspira 1 too soft.

Thanks for inputs...

This car no match against an old 2008 Civic.
Styling wise park side by side, Inspira feels like Saga BLM. Look so plain.
Civic even the wheel arches got nice design, compared to our plain one.

No need to talk about interior. So nice fitting with no gaps. Stylish some more.

Too bad Civic no manual.

i owned both before, not sure bout looks, that is subjective...but one thing i notice..fitting....i think quite ok to compare bothe...not that far

but civic frame and body is weak, so if u somehow the same accident happen to quaza happen to you in a civic...80% chance say good bye to u.

but civic got the brand malaysian loves and adore so much...'H', the power of dreams LOL....everywhere u go, malay car rempit will look at ur car.....

awek and amoi will come....

Lapsap lala? who cares attitude....

1 more thing, its hard to get good mint condition used civic, most of it is already major accident....because of the RV and cheap spare part, they can restored a total lost civic and sell to the market and still got good money, u cant do that to inspira...

so u can be sure the inspira in the used car market usually never involve in major accident before....

my 2 cent...

Hi guys,

Any good recommendation for stock absorber replacement? Prefer a bit harder than stock. Stock like sampan only

Thanks

Dear all sifu, i bought an inpsira 2.0 this year, car manufactured year 2011.

At first i thought this car are using fully syn 5w40, but after that i found out the engine consume alots of lubricant, which is when i check the level stick, it always show nearly "L" level after 1000km or 2000km.

is it normal happen like this, any recommends to solve this?

I think ASC saved me this evening.
Sudden swerve around 90kmh to avoid something on the road and I ended up on the oncoming lane. Even though I turned back the steering to the left, car was still going to the right. But suddenly like magic I was back in my lane and going straight. Not sure if ASC or angels helped me, but I did see big yellow car skidding image appear on my meter. Whole incident was over in 3 seconds or so.

All this while I thought these electronic stuff are just gimmicks and unnecessary. It's one of the reason why I was looking for an old car with no gadgets, just for reliability sake. Turns out this is one gadget that's really good to have.

Last weekend was my first time taking out and cleaning the air filter, tot will be going smoother for outstation long run, but then also my first experience the car engine roaring so loud, flooring down the pedal till 160km/h loud like mat rempit doh.gif still tot it was ok thinking that air flow more into engine but then until some places (like genting) need to naik uphill the car loosing so much power.. really need to take note to close the air filter box well.

if u want the roaring sound no need to buy K&N, dont properly seat the filter at the airbox, and u can achieve the same result...

No difference in sound with the K&N compared to the original air filter... The sound is definitely due to imperfect fitting resulting in air loss... Can happen to all air filters in all cars...

Hi guys. Just wondering for those who have moved on from their Inspira, what did you move on to? I've been a happy owner of a 2013 2.0P since new but butt itchy to change to something else. I've been to see the Accord and Camry but both are due for replacement. Even the Honda salesman was saying I should wait. Also test drove the Passat 2.0 and while it is a very nice car to be in and to drive, its a VW so there's reliability questions. Also, for a fat fella like me, the seats are a little too sporty.

Actually thought of moving on to Jap C-segment but dont like the Civic and the Altis is old plus its torsion beam suspension at the back which even our Inspira is multi-link. VW C-segment also not interesting and mostly are the 7 speed dry clutch variety.

Your thoughts?

Ya man, 4th year itch I guess. Hahahaha. Looking for ideas on what cars to move on to. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Any thoughts on the Hyundai Sonata? Actually looks quite nice from the outside, a little plain on the inside. Its also Korean (are they any good?) and probably due for replacement too. I guess my dreams have to put on hold till next year when all the new cars are launched.

On a more Inspira related topic. Any recommendation on tyre shops? Mine's due for a change. Currently on 215/50R17 Michelin PS3s. Was thinking the PS4 and been quoted RM530 per piece before GST. Also checked out the Bridgestone Potenza RE003, cheapest I found was in Klang on promo @ RM395 per piece before GST. Most other shops though are at about RM480/piece before GST.

One of the shops I asked (Bridgestone shop) said her personal experience with the RE003 was its damned good in the dry, not so much in the wet and super noisy.

That's why la. I thought can get good year end deals mana tau those cars I'm looking at not so good deals. Anyway, yes, I reckon in the next month or so it will be properly botak already.

From MC5 to PS3, I would say similar. Maybe the PS3 is slightly quieter but performance definitely the Michelins wins over the Continentals. Spoke to a few friends about Bridgestone vs Michelin, basically the same as what the shop lady said, the Bridgestones are damned noisy. Most of the friends I spoke to change away from Bridgestone not because of performance, but noise.

Any thoughts on Toyo tires? I'm planning to change to 17" rims once the original ones either go botak or expire about August next year... Planning to get 225/50R17...
*
No experience with Toyo. Have always been on either Continental or Michelin. Can try looking at tyrereviews.co.uk although I’m not sure if we actually get the same quality as Europe.

Btw, latest quote I got from a tyre shop in Kota Kemuning is RM495/piece before GST for PS4. Doesn’t include alignment.

One of the shops I asked (Bridgestone shop) said her personal experience with the RE003 was its damned good in the dry, not so much in the wet and super noisy.

if you are not driving very fast every time, don't even think of going for RE003. its a performance tyre for dry grip. wet, yes. I tried 130-180 on wet, steering dance.

It is not super noisy compared to ATR laugh.gif

Anyone experienced their headlights dimming when operating their power windows? Also when idling and rev slightly. Quite annoying. I heard could be battery or alternator but was hoping to find out more before heading to workshop.

Just reach OCI n replace new EO. Mechanic said engine sounds rough. I feel so too. So, asked all sifu here if sounds normal. A smooth engine is always desirable

Hey guys, been a silent reader for a few years now and there's some experience that I would like to share in case there are any others still out there that are somehow still finding their hands itchy in upgrades(?) for their now-ageing car (mine is 1.8mt 2015).

Upgrades that I've done so far are:
1. F-tuned gt series absorbers complete with pillowball top mounts.
2. Front strut bar (UR)
3. Project μ brake pads
4. Advanti 17inch rims with Michellin PS4s (215/50/17)
5. Sscus viper seats (front pair)

As far as I can say for them after actually living with the upgrades for 6 months now is that:
1. Don't get it if you don't want to be in a workshop every few months or so, pillowball mounts are harsh and idiotic for daily drives on malaysian roads. Plus, F-tuned quality is very debatable. LGT standard shocks should be more than sufficient.
2. It's pretty much no harm done aside from a few hundred bucks.
3. Does somehow have better braking performance but that might be a placebo effect too. Standards work just fine unless you're driving like a maniac down Genting.
4. The tires are godsent. Miles better than the standard continentals and the wet grip is immense. Increased confidence in whacking those fast corners, plus no more wheel spin at traffic lights! Downside, pricey as hell.
5. Does a pretty good job holding your body in place during those corners, standards seats are like a slip-and-slide. The rails however are questionable, mine was squeaking like crazy during normal drives due to the road vibrations. Turns out there's metal rubbing metal on the railings, filed it down and so far so good.

Well that's all folks. Ah not to mention Brother Kenny helped to tune the ecu abit so there's that. Pretty okay with my little lala for the time being until I get spare cash to dabble around with some other car.

Cheers!

I think most advanti rims are ori. They are no expensive rims..
I planning to migrate to advanti once my sets of tires wear off.
Can't find the tire for my odd size rim d.. Which have been serving me for 6 years + cry.gif

Advanti Hybris, 7.5j +45 offset. Bought it from King of Rims at Shah Alam. Should be original I suppose. Compared to stock, they are lighter but in terms of structural rigidity, nothing beats the stock ones. For design wise, it's a-okay.

Looks like Advanti is a good choice... I am looking at Enkei Tuning series... Not sure what the RM1k difference would get me... 205/60/R16 tires are a pain in the @$$...

I caught the itchy for modification disease too but I'm new to it and not sure whether I can get any noticeable performance out of these:

First plan:
1. K&N Air Filter
2. Railliart Snorkel

After that:
3. Reduce rim weight with Advanti rims
4. Slightly stiffer springs

If I get fat bonus plan:
5. Reduce car weight with aluminium hood

What's your take on the above?

LoL....this one ah.....if you google it has something to do with the dashboard bracket rubbing against a batang besi on your A pillar......

some DIY fixes attempted....

1. Superglue(doesn't work that great because it is not flexible and breaks over time
2.epoxy ( if you can get a good strong strength type would be able to fix it....longer before the sounds returns)
3.Metal molding weld( i go buy those metal molding 'weld' thingie mold it and the just force it in between the A pillar and the bracket, solved the sound till now....)
4.go kedai besi and literally ask them to weld the batang and lubang bracket together

and lastly...GOOD LUCK !!! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Depends on what you are looking for actually. Inspira is an old car that is based on an outdated platform with ancient technology. Getting one in this day and age is okay if it's a hand-me-down or 2nd hand banger that you won't rely on all the time. If you plan to buy a new car, I suggest something else more up to date that can last another decade or so. Unless you have very specific requirements; "I need a C-segment car that has a manual tranny that fits my budget of less than 50k (2nd hand)". A Vios or a City is what most people would go for as it is more up-to-date and somewhat reliable(?) that is within a reasonable (Jap car) budget.

I would say that performance has improved with same or slightly better fuel consumption after replacing the stock air filter with the drop-in K&N air filter...

Just want to share. Today my battery finally gave way after 2 years and almost 2 months of using (Original battery that came with the car). Just changed to Energizer at a workshop near Ativo Plaza (couldn't start at all), price RM385. Quite expensive but had no choice as was after working hours already.

Those using stock disposable paper air filter, how often do you all change?

Proton service schedule indicate change every 20k or every 12 months.

I've gone through the 18 month service with 25k mileage, but the service centre never change air filter on my car yet, don't know why.

my fc - 1.8 mt drive

Highway only = speed 90-115kmh can get 6.4 - 6.7L/100km

normal road = 8.0-9.0L/100km

normal road + jam = 10.0 - 13.0L/100km cry.gif

Hi all, got problem with my Inspira again, haha. I can hear squeaky sound from my brake, i think depends on angle, even when standstill, pressing the brake can hear the sound, damn scary. So i went to proton service center Nilai, they mentioned that i need to change my brake rotor since already very thin.

They suggest me to change soon. The price for the brake rotor is like RM770 for 1 piece, total up will be RM1540 (Damn!) the brake pad set for front is RM480(all rounded up figure)

Was thinking to let Proton service center do it, or i look for other alternative, so far i found this Jaz Stark Auto service center, looks promising, will give them a call later, but so far you guys got any suggestion on my case? Digging via google as well.

FYI, the sound happened since last night. What a right timing after getting my bonus.

Or did they get conned, Mitsu sell them expensive version of headlamps?
*
they went full retard..buy expensive version and try to locally manufactured the switch but no expertise..

Guys anyone know how can I replace my key? My key broke today (Plastic broken), I have another space key but the immobilizer chip is not activated, I reset my system 5 years back due to flood and didn't activate the spare key. Is my only option to go to service center?

You can transfer the immobilizer chip from your current key to the spare key. It's a small rectangular thingy inside the key.

hello inspira & fake inspira owner.

test driven 2010, 2012 lancer, and i felt 2010 lancer more powerful than 2012 lancer, as well as more "omph.." than my 2012 asx.. havent got chance yet to test drive inspira 2012 2.0p as my area no ppl selling inspira 😂

you may ask why i going to get 2010 lancer.. basically i jst want to replace my old 2005 city idsi, from b-segment to c-segment. also test driven 3 altis, 2010-2012, all 3cars undercarriage make sound, except this 2010 lancer, so far no such sound.

so jst wanted to ask, what commonly issues in inspira? except those a pillar, glove box make sound. i read someone posted he replaced drive shaft as well?

Anyone here knows how to switch off the 'Remove key' noise?

I went to a shop to change the headunit some years ago, and the boss said he can turn on the autolock at 20kph function and add 'remove key' alarm for rm80.
I told him I only want the autolock function and not the 'remove key' shit and willing to pay rm80 regardless.
BUT, he didn't care and still gave me everything...

It's too fkin annoying and not good for mental health...

I thought this only applies to semi-synthetic ?
Fully synthetic should last much longer , right ?

I think it is time for me to change the fuel filter too . I heard that SC will change the fuel filter and pump together sad.gif
Any recommendations on whether the fuel pump needs to be changed ?

Thanks

I caught the itchy for modification disease too but I'm new to it and not sure whether I can get any noticeable performance out of these:

First plan:
1. K&N Air Filter
2. Railliart Snorkel

After that:
3. Reduce rim weight with Advanti rims
4. Slightly stiffer springs

If I get fat bonus plan:
5. Reduce car weight with aluminium hood

What's your take on the above?
*
All 1-5 combined won’t give much noticeable difference in performance in real life.

CF hood is lighter than aluminum hood, yo. Cheaper, too.

Battery finally gave in this morning after showing signs last night... Free jump start from insurance appointed workshop and changed a new one... Maintenance type Century, RM225 after trade in old battery... Original Proton battery lasted 20 months after being in storage for nearly a year... Not bad... Hope the new battery can last longer...

I caught the itchy for modification disease too but I'm new to it and not sure whether I can get any noticeable performance out of these:

First plan:
1. K&N Air Filter
2. Railliart Snorkel

After that:
3. Reduce rim weight with Advanti rims
4. Slightly stiffer springs

If I get fat bonus plan:
5. Reduce car weight with aluminium hood

What's your take on the above?

I'm selling my Japan forged rays stark rim. PM me if interested.

Its light weight and its sturdy forged as well. Reason to sell: change the pcd to 5x100..

Any idea why the front bottom spring part keep on scratching the part where it suppose to seat on, already ask foremen alligned it further a bit but it keep on slide back to that notch and every uneven road, bump or steering move left and right it will have that scratching sound and all this only happen after i change my absorber IMP brand. =(

Hey everyone. This is my first time posting here. I have a 2010 2.0 CVT Inspira, recently I’ve noticed a whining sound coming from the engine at high speeds (around 140 and above I think)

I’ve read that it has something to do with the CVT oil and needed to be changed. Is this true? How do I check it and can I do it myself?

I’m not the most car savvy guy so I’d appreciate if someone could walk me through it 😁. Thanks

I had that before. Even got the warning once. Gear icon with message, slow down. After CVT oil change all sorted. Dumped Proton SC from then on. Trusted them to follow their own service schedule but they never did. Luckily no long term damage. At least none I can see/feel so far la.

Anyway, I recently started hearing the whining sound again from the gearbox. Next service will be time to change CVT oil and CVT oil filter liao.....

BTW, to those celebrating, Gong Xi Fa Chai!!! Huat arrr!!!!!

Sorry. Didn’t answer yr question. Not sure how to check but the first time I had the warning, I send to outside mechanic and he plugged in Bosch diagnostic tool and told me my CVT oil degraded. So not sure if its something you can do yourself.

I reckon, check the service schedules, if its time to change, just do it.

Alright thanks a lot brother. I didn’t get the warning light but definitely going to have it checked ASAP.

Hmm... I see. That’s a really useful information. I bought the car about 6 months ago a 2010 model. Now has 70000 on the odometer. Only had 1 previous owner. Honestly I don’t know if he didn’t drive much or they changed the odometer 🤷🏻‍♂️ But the car is in great shape and dead stock.

So far I’ve only had to change the rear shocks, boot dampers, battery and undertrays. No performance mods.
But... I drive like mad especially when the road is empty haha 😂 chased an Audi at 200km once, never caught him of course but it was good fun 😂 That’s when I first realized about the whining sound. Ever since then I only hear the whining I think about 140-150 and above. But yeah... I better get it checked and take it easy for now haha 😂

Can anyone recommend a workshop around Bandar Saujana Putra/Putra Heights/Subang Jaya/Puchong area that I can trust to service my Inspira? Seems like a few workshops have no experience working on an Inspira ☹️

I have to change my CVT fluid but I’d rather not go to a Proton service center, because I don’t want the proton CVT fluid. It’s garbage apparently haha 😂.

I did some reading up and I’m making sure to get genuine Mitsubishi CVT fluid J4 (Rm46/L on Lazada). As I understand J1 and J4 is the same, it’s just that J4 is the newer formula. Although the dip stick says to use J1 but J4 can also be used. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I think 4L should be enough right?

Mine also cracked. I ended up taking it off and patching the clip holes. Debadged the car as well. The back end looks so much cleaner now.

Anyone got suggestion to change what shock absorbers? I think my car very bumpy now, feels like absorber not working...should i just change back to original stock absorber? Need to change spring coil as well? What is the original absorber brand? Priority is comfort, not handling.

actually too much oil is not good...engine need to work harder because of the additional stress from the extra oil and weight......and yes...4L is enough.....there is always a margin...as long as it is not less then LOW you should be good...but i would suggest always keeping the oil above mid level to be safe... thumbup.gif
