other than clutch pump, what are other risk of breakdown for this cheapo car ya?

My free labour service ended dy, next labour onwards will be more expensive, thinking of duwan go sc, buy own oil and parts and labour bawah pokok much cheaper. But not sure I need to claim warranty for any other vulnerable parts or not for the next 1.5 years.
*
The labour fees are not too bad... I'm am still continuing being a Proton SC bitch for parts warranty purposes... You'd never know when you will need another pair of clutch pumps... doh.gif

Thinking to change to K&N, but worry the loud roaring sound.. but accidentally also experienced the roaring sound, really damn loud lol  biggrin.gif  sweat.gif

EDIT: so I think will stick to the original kind of air filter for more peaceful driving  hands.gif  hands.gif  laugh.gif
*
No difference in sound with the K&N compared to the original air filter... The sound is definitely due to imperfect fitting resulting in air loss... Can happen to all air filters in all cars...

Except for God Car... cool2.gif

Hi guys. Just wondering for those who have moved on from their Inspira, what did you move on to? I've been a happy owner of a 2013 2.0P since new but butt itchy to change to something else. I've been to see the Accord and Camry but both are due for replacement. Even the Honda salesman was saying I should wait. Also test drove the Passat 2.0 and while it is a very nice car to be in and to drive, its a VW so there's reliability questions. Also, for a fat fella like me, the seats are a little too sporty.

Actually thought of moving on to Jap C-segment but dont like the Civic and the Altis is old plus its torsion beam suspension at the back which even our Inspira is multi-link. VW C-segment also not interesting and mostly are the 7 speed dry clutch variety.

Your thoughts?

On a more Inspira related topic. Any recommendation on tyre shops? Mine's due for a change. Currently on 215/50R17 Michelin PS3s. Was thinking the PS4 and been quoted RM530 per piece before GST. Also checked out the Bridgestone Potenza RE003, cheapest I found was in Klang on promo @ RM395 per piece before GST. Most other shops though are at about RM480/piece before GST.

One of the shops I asked (Bridgestone shop) said her personal experience with the RE003 was its damned good in the dry, not so much in the wet and super noisy.

Any thoughts on Toyo tires? I'm planning to change to 17" rims once the original ones either go botak or expire about August next year... Planning to get 225/50R17...

QUOTE(quad88 @ Jan 17 2018, 08:45 PM)
Hey guys, been a silent reader for a few years now and there's some experience that I would like to share in case there are any others still out there that are somehow still finding their hands itchy in upgrades(?) for their now-ageing car (mine is 1.8mt 2015).

Upgrades that I've done so far are:
1. F-tuned gt series absorbers complete with pillowball top mounts.
2. Front strut bar (UR)
3. Project μ brake pads
4. Advanti 17inch rims with Michellin PS4s (215/50/17)
5. Sscus viper seats (front pair)

As far as I can say for them after actually living with the upgrades for 6 months now is that:
1. Don't get it if you don't want to be in a workshop every few months or so, pillowball mounts are harsh and idiotic for daily drives on malaysian roads. Plus, F-tuned quality is very debatable. LGT standard shocks should be more than sufficient.
2. It's pretty much no harm done aside from a few hundred bucks.
3. Does somehow have better braking performance but that might be a placebo effect too. Standards work just fine unless you're driving like a maniac down Genting.
4. The tires are godsent. Miles better than the standard continentals and the wet grip is immense. Increased confidence in whacking those fast corners, plus no more wheel spin at traffic lights! Downside, pricey as hell.
5. Does a pretty good job holding your body in place during those corners, standards seats are like a slip-and-slide. The rails however are questionable, mine was squeaking like crazy during normal drives due to the road vibrations. Turns out there's metal rubbing metal on the railings, filed it down and so far so good.

Well that's all folks. Ah not to mention Brother Kenny helped to tune the ecu abit so there's that. Pretty okay with my little lala for the time being until I get spare cash to dabble around with some other car.

Cheers!
*
Thanks for sharing your experience. What do you think of those 17" Advanti rims? Are they originals?

I think most advanti rims are ori. They are no expensive rims..
I planning to migrate to advanti once my sets of tires wear off.
Can't find the tire for my odd size rim d.. Which have been serving me for 6 years + cry.gif
*
Looks like Advanti is a good choice... I am looking at Enkei Tuning series... Not sure what the RM1k difference would get me... 205/60/R16 tires are a pain in the @$$...

QUOTE(quad88 @ Jan 18 2018, 07:51 AM)
Advanti Hybris, 7.5j +45 offset. Bought it from King of Rims at Shah Alam. Should be original I suppose. Compared to stock, they are lighter but in terms of structural rigidity, nothing beats the stock ones. For design wise, it's a-okay.
*
King of Rims is under my radar too! They have quite a selection of originals and not originals...

ya, feel fun enjoy driving this car.
tempted to 17"/18" size since first day get car, endup delay first until tire wear off.

That's the thing... Only 4 surfaces determine you live or die... Cannot be cheapskate on those... Planning to get 225/50/R17s... Any thoughts?

I caught the itchy for modification disease too but I'm new to it and not sure whether I can get any noticeable performance out of these:

First plan:
1. K&N Air Filter
2. Railliart Snorkel

After that:
3. Reduce rim weight with Advanti rims
4. Slightly stiffer springs

If I get fat bonus plan:
5. Reduce car weight with aluminium hood

What's your take on the above?
*
Already done 1... rclxm9.gif

3 will be next as 2 quite difficult to get... Standard price for 2 is RM150...

I would say that performance has improved with same or slightly better fuel consumption after replacing the stock air filter with the drop-in K&N air filter...

QUOTE(ongweiping @ Feb 2 2018, 02:07 PM)
Hi all, got problem with my Inspira again, haha. I can hear squeaky sound from my brake,  i think depends on angle, even when standstill, pressing the brake can hear the sound, damn scary. So i went to proton service center Nilai, they mentioned that i need to change my brake rotor since already very thin.

They suggest me to change soon. The price for the brake rotor is like RM770 for 1 piece, total up will be RM1540 (Damn!) the brake pad set for front is RM480(all rounded up figure)

Was thinking to let Proton service center do it, or i look for other alternative, so far i found this Jaz Stark Auto service center, looks promising, will give them a call later, but so far you guys got any suggestion on my case? Digging via google as well.

FYI, the sound happened since last night. What a right timing after getting my bonus.

Battery finally gave in this morning after showing signs last night... Free jump start from insurance appointed workshop and changed a new one... Maintenance type Century, RM225 after trade in old battery... Original Proton battery lasted 20 months after being in storage for nearly a year... Not bad... Hope the new battery can last longer...
