There's an old fool contaminating this thread with loads of his usual antics. Check out his post in other threads. He has been blasted by almost everyone, including the Staff and Moderators. He thinks that he is just simply better than others and is allowed to disrespect others. And when others confront him with his contemptuous rudeness, he goes on being childish. He is definitely not a football fan, and I think you all know who I meant. Ignore that fool.

Which is a pity cause if you remove all the personal attacks and profanities, there is a decent discussion going on in here.

I wouldn't say it is a pity if we could ban that one particular person from the entire Lowyat.net. He made a fool of himself in every thread, throwing profanities everywhere to everyone. Seems like he had a troubled childhood or something.

A 'real fan', how do we become one?

for me it's easy. as long as you stick by your team in any situation be it win, lose, draw, being(or almost being) took over by a suspicious looking Russian, winning a treble, relegated to the lower league etc you are a 'real fan' in my book

doesn't matter if you just start supporting your club last weekend

doesn't matter how you start to support the team be it because of the team is winning, "siding with the underdog" syndrome etc

doesn't matter if you never been to the club stadium

doesn't matter if you didn't know the chant/song

doesn't matter if you never buy the original club merchandise i.e shirt, bag, sweater etc
re: on the national team issue. i have my support for a national team. i support Malaysia all the way since i start to know football  happy.gif

oh, and i want to add that i find really hard to accept 'fans' as real when they didn't make an effort to watch their team match when available at telly or they going to sleep in the middle of watching their team match due to their team losing (u know who u r)

Good that you find his posts humourous. Personally, I would like to use a jackhammer and *too violent to be posted on the forum*. I have no idea such human exist in this world, but I guess, I haven't seen much of the world.

Im a member since 2003. Cos I don't wanna jeopardize my real id by sent this post. This is what i felt bout football. Football is universal. All I can say is ppl have their own opinion. Why they love football. How they grow with influence of football. so choices can effected from time to time.

When im was young, im one of the catalans. Coz of my late father. we love football. we even been there when real v barca once. I also have my own Johan Cruijff jersey. But time change. When im older, Ive change team. I choose the red devil. I watch my first match when man utd visit japan for friendly match (when I was studyng there) Ive been to old trafford couple of time. Including Milan v man u last year. and of coz I even I buy original utd merch. Am I saying im 'real' fan? No. I think not.. im rather not claiming im real fan.

The reason im here. Im quite annoyed wit some of u people claim urselves as 'real' fan. Know a little bit of history, buy fake merch. & so on. Then, claim that he/she is a real fan. I don't think so. Youngsters now days.. they are really disgrace. It make me laugh when some of this forummer (claimed to be real man utd fan) out of nothing flame couple of the forummer. including other forummer also. It is really hilarious to see this guy got angry. you sure got some brain but I cannot resist to say you also childish + im might say u r a poser. At the same time claiming he is the 'real' fan. I think what we should do is respect other fans & their teams as we respect ours. Im a lecturer in private college. Which mean im a teacher. But I NEVER said - IDIOT to any of my students. It is really harsh word. he think he s really something. Really smart guy I think. but actually it reflected ur childhood. how u were raised. maybe it is custom in your family to say some one idiot.

Im married n my 2nd child will come next couple of months. I actually don't want to involve with this tread actually. Really childish. But for -y- & ho nam. I really glad u stand up for ur right & coz u r honest. i know some of the forummer also have a couple of team to cheer. but afraid to say coz of ths ppl. But what I can say to both of u, you just make yourselves stupid by keep replying ths 'real' fan post. Just ignore them. According to them, we made r sinner coz we have couple of team. So as for me, im a man utd, selangor (hometown), & gamba osaka (used to stay there for 5 years). Which makes me 3 clubs. so?

all i can say is.. Just enjoy football. and pls dont disgrace man u.

pls dont condemn my english. as we never use english in japan. cheers.. thumbup.gif

I thought the issue is dead?

To be honest, as mentioned by a few people, one is entitled to their own opinion. The fact is that we, myself and air_mood do not understand how can someone can support two teams, perhaps I am not that enlighten or I am just a narrow minded fool compare to them who can see the brighter side of things.

However, I think it started when air_mood mentioned how he can't fathom why one can do that, albeit in a tone that not everyone understands, I see it as sarcasm, others might take it in the literal meaning, therefore took offense to it. And then it just blew up when Y & Sha just went on this abusive streak offending everyone, bringing out matters that is not being discussed here, which I think is uncalled for.

Anyway, all said and done, what I'd like to say is that please do keep the arguement relevant and not birng out issues such as education, family, upbringing as well as other things, these are things that would ruin a good discussion / arguement. As mentioned to both Y and Sha, it's their inability to justify or present a good arguement that makes us think they are posers, rather than the fact that they supports two teams.

I think we need to take the verx route on this Jonno. Ignore them and let them have their fun. If people who are what 27, 28 insists on doing so, what hope is there for the ones who are still in school ehh?? Just don't expect to be respected or celebrated for it. And as I pointed out, they are lucky that they are in this forum. Go into a proper club forum, they won't last.

Don't think anything can be achieved, except people throwing out cynical comments I suppose. Saying they don't like so and so, while not daring to name who the person is. I got myself quite a hate list on this thread ehh??? Hahaha. Might have bothered me had this been real life, but seeing that this is an internet forum, it makes me laugh really.

If you think I'm aiming at you, then you guessed wrongly. I did say he is not a football fan. He came in to squirt his profanity, as he always does in other threads, and leave after fulfilling his desire.

Nope. Didn't mean you either. I'm talkign about my many fans who state things like "there's this one Man United fan"...or "I hate this guy" or " so called die hard Man United supporter". Damn, there's a lot of terms. Like I said, my many fans. you'll find at least 5 or so of those descriptons in the past 2 or 3 pages.

Whoa Jonno, didn't know you were that ancient tongue.gif

But anyway to all football fans, just a question, does your enthusiasm wear off? I mean, I think I may have lost my footballing mojo a little bit. When I was in high school, I would watch every match televised [and I am not exagerating] but since then, now in college, I have tended to miss a match here and there. I must admit, I have missed a couple of United matches this season [Roma, Pompey and League Cup]. So does this make me any less of a real fan? tongue.gif

The enthusiasm haven't wear off...yet. I don't think it would though. It's just that you are very much busy with other stuffs in life, which is good. Football, if you play it, is a sport. If you watch it, it's an entertainment. Unless you are a football player, whereby football is your life, then I guess it's alright that you miss those matches since you have more important things to do...and sleeping is important as well tongue.gif
