Whoa Jonno, didn't know you were that ancient But anyway to all football fans, just a question, does your enthusiasm wear off? I mean, I think I may have lost my footballing mojo a little bit. When I was in high school, I would watch every match televised [and I am not exagerating] but since then, now in college, I have tended to miss a match here and there. I must admit, I have missed a couple of United matches this season [Roma, Pompey and League Cup]. So does this make me any less of a real fan?

QUOTE(Haunkiem @ Feb 8 2008, 06:29 AM) But even so , all local guys like you who talks about tradition , history etc - what about the history of Malaysia National team . Do you even know anything about the glory days of the 70s and early 80s ?Mokhthar , James Wong , Shukor , Wong Chong Wah , Yip Chee Keong , Jamal Nasir , Bakri , Arumugam. All real local fans should start here then the natural progression is to the UK scene. I am a consumer and I am looking for a superior product and it is of my opinion that Malaysian football as a product is of inferior quality which is why I resort to the EPL, not La Liga and not Serie A. You can go at great lengths about patriotism and saying it's no point knowing a lot about Manchester United when you know nuts about your own national team but fact of the matter, is I don't really care and I don't need anyone's approval [best word I can think of right now] to call myself a real Manchester United fan.

QUOTE(Haunkiem @ Feb 8 2008, 05:09 PM) You said it , you are a consumer and not a Fan . That's a big difference . Of course it's diferent if you were at 1st a fan of local football or a at leats a feeling for the glory days of Msia football , it would prove that you are genuine . NAtural progression. Like this it's all so fake , like you jumped on board just becaue there a few cool people in bangsar wtahcing ESPN. Are you born in Manchester ? in UK ? in Europe ? no , even lived there for a long time. So how honest can your interest in MU be ? What product will you buy if MU becomes untrendy in the next 10 years or so ? Will you object if the team onwers force a merger with all NW UK teams and call it the UKNW kings ? I doubt it Thanks for revealing your true self Added on February 8, 2008, 5:11 pmTrue but that's a different Q. then surely you must feel a sense of pride about guys like James Wong and Chong Wah ? they shocked the world man , even England reculars respected them . Errr...if I were a supporter of Perak or god-knows-where, why would I 'progress' to the foreign leagues? The reason why I don't even support any of our local teams is because I think that the product [football, commentary, how it is marketed and everything] is inferior. I would only look elsewhere if that were the case and sadly, it is so. And, your claims that consumers cannot be loyal is fallacious. Haven't you heard of brand loyalty? I started consuming Manchester United but then, there's an emotional affinity that goes beyond rational preference. And as I have said, I really do not need your approval to prove myself as a real fan. I can go on and say all the right things about any team in the world but that would mean F all as no one would truly know how I feel but me. Now, what I don't get is why would we progress to foreign leagues if the Malaysian league was good enough? If I were in England (born and bred), why would I support Madrid or Barca? I would support my local team since the league system and everything is alright. However, since the local league's crap, hence me watching a foreign league and supporting a foreign team.
Secondly, I know nuts about Malaysian football but so? Is literature on it widely available? NO! Try googling Mokhtar Dahari and see how many results provide information. Secondly, ever come across anyone reading about a club, then only supporting them? I'd be amazed if madmoz or air_mood started reading about the clubs' history before starting to watch a clubs' match! So I don't support the national team or any of the local clubs, as such, why read on them?

QUOTE(Haunkiem @ Feb 9 2008, 05:45 PM) LOL at people who talk about England and then Spain and then to falling in love . What the fvck does that have to do with anything ? bullshiet , people like this deserve what they get . better watch out or I should reprt / invite some UK fans over and then we'll how they like the glamour pondans. I think they will skinhead stomped and I will laff . Added on February 9, 2008, 5:53 pmWhat a load of boolocks , you havent followed the chat and you come up with this crap ? who said I am a fan , I am an ex fan but an interested party and an ex semi pro . I have more right than you to say what I want.I agree the issue with you is you are angry about what I report from UK , not my words . If you really care so much why not go to the UK fans sites and tell them in their face and sort it out ?Ah , of course not you have no guts for it , I wonder who is the glamour pondan ? Come one I know your reply Im ready. Added on February 9, 2008, 6:06 pmTo All ,
I dont care about what you think , I dont want you to agree with me , I dont need you.
These are my views , take it or leave it , your opinions are not importatnt to me.
Don't worry , I have found UK fans agree with me and I will be telling them about you people then we'll see . If I were an ex semi-pro, I would have achieved as much as you would have, which is nothing. Secondly, just because you were a semi-pro doesn't give you more of a right to express your opinion over anything. You don't have to be a former Prime Minister to critique the government. Otherwise, the thing we call freedom of speech? It wouldn't exist. Stop deluding yourself thinking you have more of a right than us. Learn to type properly before anything And the opinions of UK fans aren't better than ours or anything. So just because they agree with you doesn't make you right. Go on and tell them about us? What are you going to do? This post has been edited by kobe8byrant: Feb 9 2008, 06:59 PM

Considering the fact that you'll know what we say why don't you reply the posts that we are about to post to save us the time. Has the number of headers you've contested affected your brain? I mean, seriously, the shit that you type, just makes no sense. I know this is the Internet but surely even the Internet has a limit for daftness.

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Feb 10 2008, 12:10 PM) All I know is this; if the 'glamour pondan' remark was aimed at me, i'd like to meet him in person to see who the 'pondan' is. Be a man and say it to my face. If not then well, not my argument really. Do you seriously get that F-er's argument with 'natural progression'? Because I don't. Why would I progress to a foreign league if the current local league were good and entertaining enough? I'd only bypass it because it's shite. And he was referring to all EPL fans when with the 'glamour pondan' remark, no?

QUOTE(clayclws @ Mar 1 2008, 04:58 PM) Smoking~! My cousin is a Liverpool fan herself...and her boyfriend is a Man Utd supporter. Although she's not considered a real fan, at least she knows about the history and stuff. Her boyfriend loves to taunt her (I do that as well). But thing is, football brought them closer and not apart even though they support different teams. Any chance your cousin's called Kimberley?

QUOTE(miccy @ Mar 2 2008, 05:25 PM) its obvious u know by looking at the 2nd name...Real MADrid ( shows how madly real fan u are )...frankly, other club u mention is meaningless no offence You can't just utter crap and then hope to bail yourself out by saying no offense. It doesn't work that way.

LOL, oh gosh, is there really a need to prove yourself as a real fan over the Internet? I'd be amazed if there's a definite period to feel sad over a result to be a real fan! Personally, depends on circumstances of the game and what I have in 'real' life as well lah. If I have a big exam/date/function to attend to, little time to cry over spilled milk.
