Curently use CM Notepal..works quite decent also.

where u buy your cm notepal? how much?

QUOTE(teikwing @ May 2 2007, 02:49 PM)
yup. agree with u. other brands seems to have better built quality. especially HP. Dell one seems plasticky. but still a quality notebook + great warranty service.  rclxms.gif  thumbup.gif

FYI, 6400 is the cheapest performance notebook u can get it the market for now. with RM3K+ can get C2D, X1400 & 120GB HDD. don't think other brands offer this kinda specs for that price. for that kinda specs, 6400 cost more than RM4K-5K last year, when i bought mine.  cry.gif

used XPS for few days before. the LCD cover just seems more nicer with the black & silver accent. inside (keyboard & palm area) is just like 6400. plasticky too just that the keyboard keys is in silver, not in black like 6400. besides that, it's LCD cover has a nice locking mechanism. when we flip down 6400's LCD cover & 'lock' it, we need to push some sort of key to 'unlock' it right? XPS's one is without the key. when u flip it down, it will just lock by itself. hard to describe. u gotta check it out.  smile.gif btw XPS is so so light.  tongue.gif

Cooling pad u can try CM notepal.  smile.gif

those files with blue fonts are compressed files by Windows. can't change it back. Windows compressed old files that are haven't been used for a long time to save HDD space. smile.gif

notepal W1(3 fan) is around rm150 - for 15.4 inch
another small notepal(2 fan) is around rm 100 for 14 inch

Dont think so if the dell pc can use windows defrag cause the dell hidden partition disable that unless u full format and delete the recovery partition

yea cause when u defrag, it will try to compress the hidden partition which is the pc image restore. pc image doesnt allow it so it'll end up unable to complete the defrag.
Unless that u have full format which all the partition is deleted.

blue fonts = compressed files... actually useful to get more space...
i usually compress my download and document folders..

you can do it by right click a folder properties then go Advanced and click the "Compress contents to save disk space"

Then after process you can see how much space is compress by looking at the Size and also the Size on Disk (The actual HDD space occupied) smile.gif

This i dont recommend use on windows or program files as i guess there should be a slow down the file access due to uncompressions...

Western digital is a good brand.

You gonna use the HDD as external storage or replace the one in your lappy?

what do you mean by "good" hdd?
notebook size hdd, 2.5", is now available in 160gb in the market, cost a bit expensive though. for desktop size, 3.5", you have to get a casing for the hdd.
its all up to the individual's preference.
