make call fast fast, as the refurbished unit is a hot cake, normally they will come in with other accessories like targus bag, cable & etc
*
haha. wont call la. i'm still using my C1D currently.
how come there so many buyers who are not satisfied with their order, then return back their order, and hence, we have refurbished units.

if u accidentally deleted the partition , juz run it through ur CD lar laugh.gif

i cant, and i dont know why. i did download an "iso" file from dell's website, burn it into cd, and tried to run it, but couldnt. it says "couldnt find the diagnostic partition". thats why i posted this question. if anyone has got any experience regarding this, do tell me please. thanks

i need more space ...cry.gif  anyone can recomended good hdd???
*
what do you mean by "good" hdd?
notebook size hdd, 2.5", is now available in 160gb in the market, cost a bit expensive though. for desktop size, 3.5", you have to get a casing for the hdd.
its all up to the individual's preference.

but i heard western 1 quite hot...donno latest batch edy fix this prob or not...
*
this is the response i got from some lowyat shops:
"performance wise, take hitachi. want longer warranty, take seagate (5years). western d is like.. middle"
no one seem to mention about maxtor or samsung though

ask you guys a simple question, will you guys buy one 160gb 2.5" or get 3.5" with casing and get more capacity?

whaaa.....so much money have to spend again.... cry.gif  cry.gif

i would suggest a pata 5400rpm. main purpose is to store data only right? a 2.5" casing is not that expensive. get good ones, for eg the vantec one cost about rm50-ish. my college mate bought a 120gb with vantec, rm300. i'm not sure about cooler master though. anyway, u can check the pdf price lists to get the latest price.

I was kinda skeptical about installing Vista, now that I am finally using it, I am starting to like it. Well, so far no problem lar.
*
calvin, u download dell drivers for vista from dell's support website ya? so far so good? last time i saw my friend's pc, his ram idle usage is about 600mb. what about yours then?

current spec is 512mb ram. given a choice, will you get another 512mb to do dual channel OR get 1gb to have 1.5gb.

em, is 1.5gb sufficient for vista? thanks

I have vista home premium on my 6400 wit 1 gb ram,at idle it seems to take up 600+mb ram already. So i'm wondering if are there any side effects if i were to increase my virtual memory settings?(i heard that it'll give u more memory?) Anyone tried tinkering wit those settings before?

Btw,does anyone know what harddisk does dell provide for 6400? eg.Seagate,WD,Toshiba etc..
*
1st question, i'm not sure, mine with xp
2nd, mine is hitachi

fellas, i have a funny situation here.

i'm using bitcomet for my torrenting. my idle usage would be around 500/1000mb ram. after i leave my comp switched on, say 2-3hours, my idle usage left about 200/1000mb. my bitcomet tends to "eat" up my resources. this makes my comp a bit lag when i tried to open up other programs. all i have to do is reset my bitcomet, and its back to normal.
i've checked with a friend of mine, he torrents 24/7 and his bitcomet program is running fine, unlike mine (both using the same version). any opinions regarding this?

P/s i'm asking here 'cause i'm experiencing this situation with my laptop.

used to face the same prob like yours last time but after formatted my comp & upgraded bitcomet to the latest version..everything run smoothly. no lag or whatsoever even torrent for 24/7. but u should try change to utorrent. not so troublesome. smile.gif
*
i cant use utorrent without port forwarding, i dunno why.
and i cant port forward, cause i'm sharing the line with other ppl.
i guess i'll try with the new version then. but i like the old version more, the interface looks better and easier to handle.

what if some parts or components crashed? and they dont have new supplies, but they have "re-conditioned" or rather used supplies. will they change old parts for you?

kinda worried, 'cause i'm considered from the old batch, using coreduo.

Woots.. phased out.. I wonder will the new model have a large quantity of stock. Guys, don't hurt your notebooks now to hope for a new model. If I were you, I would rather wait for one year. biggrin.gif
*
ahha! smart move there. there might be core3duo or sth right? haha

yeah man. by the time i graduate in 2 years time..quad core will be too norm.  tongue.gif
but still kinda sad our model has been phased out.  sad.gif think 6400 has been Dell's hottest Inspiron.  biggrin.gif

its like owning... a putra today. no more in production, but its a hell of a car.
haha sorry for my bubbling here. just kinda sad that dell wont produce 6400 anymore.
