is it possible for me to extend my warranty even after my warranty has ended?
coz there's one of my frens her I6000 mobo burnt after the warranty period ended then Dell said the charges to replace the mobo would be 1k+. but instead asking her to replace the mobo..they've gave her a choice for getting extra 3 yrs CC for RM1k. she paid 1k for the 3 yrs CC extension. that's what i heard from her. |

QUOTE(steventan85 @ Apr 21 2007, 11:43 AM) wow....worth lar man ....i extended another yr for Rm400 and she get it for 3yrs CC for another Rm1k.... it is possible for u to extend it ...u need to pay a certain amount of inspection fee ...if not mistaken will be around Rm130+ 1st .. QUOTE(pipedream @ Apr 21 2007, 12:27 PM) hmm dell so nice? mobo spoilt liao still can extend warranty? thats swell.. its more expensive to extend warranty later compared to purchasing extra warranty at the beginning QUOTE(Andrewhajime @ Apr 21 2007, 04:45 PM) of coz is possible to extend the warranty after your warranty is ended steventan85 : oh means have to pay inspection fees 1st? they will inspect ur lappy 1st before let u extend r?normally the machine start to fail when the warranty ends pipedream : yea. sweet. more expensive but when buy lappy dat time got limited budget. thats why. Andrewhajime : i'm afraid my mobo gonna give up soon coz keep on 24/7. thats why worried. |

QUOTE(youliang @ Apr 25 2007, 07:09 PM) This is the story behind all the problems. mine had around 1cm deep scratch too. on top corner of the LCD screen. wonder how it get there..must be during assembly. Day 1,(Saturday) WOW, my pc arrived.. I'm very happy. Happiness turned into disaster when I noticed that there was a 1cm scratch on the notebook. I thought WHAT!? I paid almost RM5000 and DELL's giving me a damaged laptop?..... I was getting sleepy so I didn't open the printer that was bundled together on that day. |

QUOTE(JarodLeong @ Apr 30 2007, 05:15 PM) just want to know that when using AC power and the battery no plug out izit ok? or plug the battery out better? if the notebook on 24/7 and using AC power then better plug the battery out? try to remove the battery if you're planning to use ur AC power for a long period. overheating the battery will shorten the battery lifespan. but remember to charge your battery once a while so that it wont be completely drained. this will affect the battery's lifespan too. correct me if i'm wrong. Added on April 30, 2007, 5:16 pm call to dell there and log a complain loh... |

QUOTE(Humping^Panda @ May 2 2007, 11:19 AM) just saw hp,compaq and vaio..in senq queensbaymall... yup. agree with u. other brands seems to have better built quality. especially HP. Dell one seems plasticky. but still a quality notebook + great warranty service. wow their built quality really nice lor.. outlook very cool... but abit too pricy. nvr really look into laptop design until recently when wan to buy laptop. dell one 6400 abit sad.... but is okie..coz the price very low.. XD built quality XPS version might be able to match with the hp, compaq and vaio..not sure anyone got XPS? hehehe used my laptop for heavy dl ady.. my room is cooler now compare using the pc.. last time on pc 24-7... the room like oven.. need to try the laptop to play game like company of heroes. by the way, what cooling pad good for the 6400? FYI, 6400 is the cheapest performance notebook u can get it the market for now. with RM3K+ can get C2D, X1400 & 120GB HDD. don't think other brands offer this kinda specs for that price. for that kinda specs, 6400 cost more than RM4K-5K last year, when i bought mine. used XPS for few days before. the LCD cover just seems more nicer with the black & silver accent. inside (keyboard & palm area) is just like 6400. plasticky too just that the keyboard keys is in silver, not in black like 6400. besides that, it's LCD cover has a nice locking mechanism. when we flip down 6400's LCD cover & 'lock' it, we need to push some sort of key to 'unlock' it right? XPS's one is without the key. when u flip it down, it will just lock by itself. hard to describe. u gotta check it out. Cooling pad u can try CM notepal. |

QUOTE(williamlee_1985 @ May 5 2007, 10:11 AM) if my warranty period is over and i dont plan to extend it, then when something happened to my laptop how? send to pc shops? do they know how to repair a dell laptop? it's better to extend the warranty as laptop parts is not cheap. my friend's 6400 wanna change the hinge & HDD cost around RM590. the Dell warranty service SA recommended him to extend a year CC as it only cost RM584. no fuss no worries. all parts included in warranty. repair/replacement FOC. |
