Hi, I am having Asus H110m-K motherboard. I am looking to upgrade my SSD. I am a casual gamer with mostly play dota 2 and some graphics game like horizon or wasteland 3.
But i have few options

1. SATA SSD or Nvme?
2. If my motherboard not allow for nvme, what can i do so it can support nvme in mean time? before i upgrade to better motherboard.
3. And last which brand or which nand ssd i should buy?

my budget around Rm 300. and i looking 512gb ssd

tq

1. your mobo only SATA
2. PCIE x16 to m.2 adapter
3. look for lowest price first that fits your budget, then google reviews on anandtech, then decision from there
make sure the SSD has a common brand name...dont buy vague brands that you have never heard of

1. SATA
2. Just stay with SATA. PCIE card for NVME SSD may not work for everybody.
3. Crucial MX500 or Patriot Burst
Avoid DRAM-less SSD. Paying more is worth it.

Okay noted. So SATA technology still future proof ya. Because i was thinking buying nvme SSD since its more new in term of technology. Now headache between better brand SSD or nvme ssd borh look same price to me.

If you buy nvme ssd you can't use on your current mobo. Well you can if you use sata to m.2 adapter, but who knows what issue will arise and that adapter also an added cost.

If you plan to upgrade mobo in near future then better to hold off your purchase until that time and then buy m.2 nvme. If still some time then maybe buy a cheap small sata ssd that'll cost like RM100 first.

to be fair his usage wouldn't really benefit from NVME anyway. SATA SSD will be good enough.

since prices are low now might as well get at least a 500GB or 1TB and call it a day

May I request for your recommendation for the software use for cloning the existing notebook computer harddisk to a new SSD?

Finally I used Macrium Reflect Free to clone from the old harddisk to Crucial MX500 SSD. The SSD replaced the old HDD and is now running fine in my laptop.

Consider Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB SATA SSD when on offer (usually can expect RM 330-350). 5 years warranty and you can bring it over to another build next time.
Otherwise Cruxial MX500 SATA SSD seems to be available at RM 250-280 for the same capacity online.

You should only get RGB devices if they can be seen at all times
If that SSD is going to be installed underneath a GPU, then better just get normal SSD like the SX8200 Pro then slap a heatsink on it

Read the spec, most mobo only have 1 slot at max bandwidth. Some mobo have all the slots with same max bandwidth.

Samsung just slightly faster which is negligible. The MX500's price is just a no brainer
