it won't delete the other partition because in BIOS u can choose which partition u wud like to install the windows. be careful not to delete all partitions.

Shud be no problem. Prudentially, don't make partition more than 3. Two partition is the optimal partition but u need xtra 1 exclusively for the backup in BIOS F11.

Guys, I think my laptop dvd writer drive rosak already. I think I'm gonna change it because it's still under warranty.

I'm planning to go to Alor Star service Center. And I have something to ask you guys.

1) Do I need an appointment to change the drive
2) How long will it takes to change the drive? Because I do all of my work in this lappy
3)Should I delete all the confidential files first before going there?
4) What should I bring when going there. Thanks..

hmm you dun need an appointment to change your drive..just drop by during working hours and they will take 3 working days to fix it for you. if this is the first time you send it to the service centre, present your proof of purchase so the sales person will register the product for you. please ensure that you backup your data before sending it in as they might format your hard drive...

Probably they need to order from singapore etc etc. need to test and anlysze etc etc.

You might want to go there earlier see if they can change it on the spot.

if u are planning to change any hardware, be prepare to wait for a while.. last time i sent in my laptop for some minor checks. In the end it took more than 3 weeks for me to get it back.

what they did - change a brand new system board. they also found out that, my dvd writer kaput(maybe they spoil it).

why 3 weeks - they investigate the laptop, your laptop will be monitored for some days - HDD test, software test and bla bla bla. If they found out that there is hardware failure, they will send a report to singapore. they change the board and wait for singapore to say whether the hardware failure is caused by user or factory defect. if cause by user, u have to pay..

i'm new in here.. scouting for my next notebook..

anyone have experience with the 6700T series?
how is the built quality and is the notebook really heavy?
what's the average battery time on full-power? and maximum time from power-saving mode..

When I tested my dvd writer today just before going to the Service center, the dvd works again, haihh shakehead.gif . I can watch dvd from it and burn a dvd also. But I don't know it's a good thing or not since my warranty will expired in 30 days.

Before this It can't read any cd/dvd and can't burn anything also. And the dvd tray randomly keep popping out when I use the laptop (sounds like virus, but It can't be because because I often update my antivirus, using nod32 by the way.

How can it suddenly be working when for about 2 months it's won't read or do anything rather than keep popping the dvd tray. All I do before the dvd 'drive fix' itself is transfer all my files to another computer. and freed my harddisk from 28GB remaining to 70GB.

What do you guys think I should do? send the aptop to the service center, format the harddisk or just let it be? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

If it want to rosak, then rosak now. I'll be happy because it's still in warranty.
