Geez,i currently got a dv6768se which i know is not a local hp laptop. I registered it in itrc forum and it say it is from the US. The warranty given only 3 months from itrc..
Anyway, my main question here is..If i wanna convert back to XP, which version shud i choose? Media edition or professional? Will the remote still work then? |

anyone who has dv6203tx tried upgrading ram from 2GB to 4GB before? using everest, i found out that the maximum amount that the chipset can support is 4GB, so i bought 2 pieces of 2GB hoping that it would work. in the bios however it only shows 3328 MB and the vista loading bar shows up...as well as the welcome sound, but the screen is black and doesnt load the user log on screen. is it true that it really doesnt support 4GB or do i just need 2 upgrade my BIOS?
Added on September 16, 2008, 7:12 pmmy current bios version is only f.16 and in everest it shows the date for my cpu bios was feb 2007 and video bios even older june 2006. im just worried of any conflicts if i try 2 update my bios This post has been edited by bsm: Sep 16 2008, 07:12 PM |

I've bought a dv6508tx from hewlett packard early last year and I was quite happy with it untill recently when I want to downgrade it to window XP, I couldn't find few specific driver for the laptop itself, mind you I had to look high and low for the graphic card driver itself for xp as nvidia website dont even have the gfx card driver on the list.
Now what trouble me the most is i couldnt find a bluetooth driver and the card reader for my laptop ( more specifically the card reader refuse to read certain card type [example : memory stick pro duo]) i was hopping someone could actually point me to the right stuffs. thanks oh , I did check out hp website, but the driver they've provided are either defective, not complete or for vista only. |

yup mine is also around that temperature without using the notebook cooler
and if i don't use the cooler and plays high resolution videos the temperature can get really high and sometimes my laptop turns off suddenly does anyone else has this weird high pitch sound problem on the left side of the notebook especially when running on batteries? the sound is bugging me i had enough of this notebook, first it's the dvd burner and now this i'm going to buy a new notebook and it's not going to be HP! edit: okay i take back my word the new hp dv5t looks very tempting to me This post has been edited by descendant: Nov 2 2008, 05:57 PM |

the high pitch sound is apperently a signature for dv6000
my temperature is settling down now, around 55-57 for gpu, was at 60 after i got it from servicing, ask them to put my own thermalpaste and ditch the bubblgum thing and with a wood supporting at the back im getting 53 gpu and 40 proc.... my burner still doing fine tho |

No problem so far. how much does it cost you to change the optical drive??Heat mainly from hard disk on the left palm rest area. So far so good for a 2 year 6126TX. i'm thinking of changing it too as for the heat .. i think everyone using this model faces the same problem too, i'm hoping that using a better notebook cooler can solve that problem i heard good reviews bout zalman, can anyone using this notebook with the zalman cooler give some feedbacks?? QUOTE(trox @ Nov 8 2008, 12:50 PM) the high pitch sound is apperently a signature for dv6000 yeah i've heard bout off-ing it in the bios and i did see the option in the bios, never tried it yet thoughmy temperature is settling down now, around 55-57 for gpu, was at 60 after i got it from servicing, ask them to put my own thermalpaste and ditch the bubblgum thing and with a wood supporting at the back im getting 53 gpu and 40 proc.... my burner still doing fine tho where did you service your notebook and how much does it cost?? i think i need to service mine too and get the notebook fan clean out i've seen tutorials on how to open the casing on notebookreview but i don't have the confidence to do it myself without damaging my notebook |

Because I am new in this community, I want to say HI! to all of you.
I have a problem with the my laptop-HP Pavilion dv6000. When i try to update the BIOS, because of a piching noise, like the HP technician suggest me, my power went off, and the bad thing it was, that at that moment I did not have the battery in my laptop. And now the laptop does not turn on, the screen remain black, and just make very powerfull noise like piii piii periodically. Yes I know, I am not to experienced in informatics, and after having this problem, I read a lot of posts on the internet, that it is very dangerous to touch the BIOS. Now I want to try to fix my laptop, because someone tell that is quite big issue. So I want to ask, maybe someone else faced this problem, and can help with some advice, excepting the easiest way, that I also know, to change the motherbord. On some websites it is described a way with a USB FLoppy disk, do you think it can help? Thank you in advance! |
