my shipment arrived today. UPS cleared it and paid my tax of about rm400 (total value is about rm1200).
i complained and said that they never ask me for approval.
then the guy said i should talk to his supervisor who will call me tmr cos he went back already.

any tips / ideas / suggestions to how i can avoid or at least lower the tax? maybe personal usage or something like that?

Yes, no matter your rings or necklaces are from Taiwan, China, Korea or other countries. If you buy in bulk, the possibility (kena tax) is high.

However, it is really depend on your luck.

You put the ps3 on your bag or something? Don't put it into the box(high possibility you need to keep the box somewhere or throw them away), and if they do caught you, say that it's a used item / bringing it back to malaysia, you shouldn't get imposed on tax.

hi bbjslee, does this apply to any goods? even if the goods need permits, such as a USB wall charger that plugs into a 240Vac wall socket which needs SIRIM cert/permit?

Thanks.

For Repair / Warranty Unit, B4 sending u need to declare to custom 1st with serial number stated and your own proforma invoice and state "item for repair, no commercial value". I not remember what custom form it is.

Once the item arrive, u need to submit again the form for declaration for verify if it same item.
The Serial Number Must same , unless item are replace 1 to 1.

Normally repair unit/warranty purpose dont have tax, unless u dont declare b4 sending.

because quantity too much jor.
need go LCCT , then take ur things , (remember go the small room [i think is pos malaysia ppl] say with them call them tolak tolak sedikit XD])
however they will call u go the small room also , forget room 2 or 3.
if u open direct with kastam , they will charge u kaw kaw.

can give pos office settle also need pay RM50 for the fee , not include tax.
if u give them settle , will very expensive = = !
