recently i just bought an item from ebay and the seller send the item to me using US Postal Service Priority Mail International Small Flat Rate Box,initially i asked him he said that this method has a tracking number, but currently the seller said that the US post office tell him that this method doesnt have any tracking number..

-can anyone confirm this with me?

- normally how long does it takes to send from US to Selangor?

-does it require signature upon receiving?

-and will they send to me using pos laju or pas daftar or normal mail??

thanks in advance

based on my experience:

- USPS Priority Mail got tracking number.

- duration of delivery from US to malaysia is about half month. depends of how fast the customs clear your item.

- I believe yes

- Pos Malaysia will send using pos daftar.

just to share its should be 40% as the kastam ppl told me ya as clothing is the highest tax among the item ...
therefor, we need to declare it included shipping lower than usd100
if not over tht,the kastam can close 1eyes to let go ur stuff ya...the more lowest the value u declare the better as u dont have to go to the kastam office to collect it..

Hi.. I got a friend from USA who is selling his phone and I'm interested to purchase it...
So if my friend ship the phone via UPS or FEDEX, will I be taxed?
It's a "used" phone, not a brand new one.
Will I be charge the usual SIRIM tax (RM300) regardless of the phone condition?

Your phone will still need the approval and the permit to import. So there is no way you can escape the charges from SIRIM. nod.gif

Hello Lemongirl,

If I did not remember wrongly, the last time i used USPS to ship from US to Malaysia (1.5 yrs back), they told me they cannot track outside of US. So I chked with my friend regularly in Malaysia whetehr he received or not. It look abt ~2 weeks I think.

Correct me if I am wrong, that's what I remember...

I've been thinking of importing Nokia N97 into Malaysia.

I heard that Mobile Phone required SIRIM and Tax 10%.

So, if I declare it as a 'Mobile-Computer', it should avoid all the hassle? Since it did look like Table PC anyway. LoL. Or maybe Kastam are more clever than that?

Could anyone shed light on me? What would happen if I really do that? Let's say, if I removed all the boxes, and put alot of fingerprint on the phone before sending it out, would it be fine as well?

I wanted to buy a handphone and shipped to Malaysia from UK. The person in UK mention that he will be using express mail service (ems) to malaysia. Will the handphone kena tahan and need to pay tax?. If need to pay tax, how much?. The price of the handphone is around USD300. Could anyone help to answer this.

Thanks

a piece of CD is unlikely to get stuck at custom. uhh..by EMS, it should stand for "Express Mail Service" and it should have a tracking no. to go with it. yours should be SAL "Surface Air Lift"/"Surface Sea"/"Air". if your parcel is insured, i would advice you to try and file for a claim, else you could drop CD Japan an email and see if they could help you out

your idea would phailed miserably, trust me. even if you asked the seller to smash the phone into bits/dunk it into the toilet bowl/feed it to the dog before it was posted out, if it's a phone, kastam will definately ask you to obtain a SIRIM AP and afterward tax you 10%

yes, it will be "tahan-ed". kastam will call you up and ask you to come personally to collect your phone from POS LCCT. you'll need to open the parcel in front of the OIC for inspection. afterward, they'll hand you a form that you need to bring along to SIRIM Shah Alam. it'll cost you RM200 and 3~4 waiting days to obtain your AP. once the AP is ready, you'll have to collect it from SIRIM and head back to LCCT for clearance. they will tax 10% of the item cost. the grand total that you have to fork out (minus the hassle of travelling like a mad dog + waste of petrol and time) is :-

RM200 (~SIRIM AP) + RM100 (~10% Tax of USD300) = RM300+/-

That's why I said I will try to declare it as mobile-pc, if they asked me to open it for inspection, i'll just open office program and wifi ~.~, well i guess it might not working, but it worth a try anyway.
