hi,

any idea whether if we purchase clothes worth more than rm500 and bring back personally from china (by flight), whether the custom (at airport) tax us upon arriving? anyone can share some knowledge or experience?

coz last time my friends and i went to hatyai and on the way back 1 of my friend kena tax.

wondering whether airport they check or not?

another question is, for those by courier, the custom estimate the value of the items themselves or depends on the invoice or declaration only?

thanks.

telecommunication item (phone, GPS, radio, etc) is kinda hassle to settle it with customs. yes you need some kinda sirim shiat approval for that and its not free. RM 200 -300 like that. last time i rayu to the custom officer just let me have my GPS and i pay the custom tax (since its above RM 500). fortunately he realease the item and i pay RM 50 for it.

Hi, if the clothes carry by flight aren't urs, then remove the tag and plastic bag wrap is better
they will check ur luggage in airport
so it's better make the clothes like used if not for resell

they do have a list/market price for items and will refer declaration also
sometimes if sender declare the item at so low price, they wont believe and wil til charge u for it

Hey guys. Bought a laptop online from the US via USPS a few weeks ago.

Tracked it today and these are the latest entries:

Out of Foreign Customs, April 27, 2010, 10:24 am, MALAYSIA
Into Foreign Customs, April 27, 2010, 10:11 am, MALAYSIA

Does this mean that my parcel is out of customs and won't be detained?

EDIT: WOOT MY PARCEL ARRIVED OMGGGGGG

Only in Malaysia will you be happy that your parcel has arrived when it's meant to. Other countries take this for granted.

But meh, I don't give a damn my laptop I bought for RM4.5k online which retails in Malaysia at 10K arrived. No tax, no nothing.

Was wondering anyone can guide me in getting Rogaine Foam (3 month supply) since it isn't available in Malaysia.

Previously there is a thread bulking it but got into problem as it was declared as poison.

Anyone got experience ordering it?

Hi guys,

I bought an aftermarket exhaust system for my bike from Japan inclusive of shipping costing about RM 1.3k. I understand it will most likely attract taxes, however I am unsure of the possible amounts as I could not locate entries for motorcycle parts in the customs tariffs database. I did find entries for motorcar and tractor exhausts though. The item today arrived at PPL Butterworth, so if anyone can enlighten me on the rates of taxes for my item I would be grateful.

Cheers

anyone here knows the tariff code and tax for

1) Amplifier - tariff code is: 8518 40 000, 15% import duty and 10% sales tax.
2) Projector (i was inform projectors are tax free)
3) Speakers

i would be buying from singapore and transporting them back via car. TUAS or Woodlands better? (for minimum tax)
