I hope they're not too complex for newbies. however, shouldn't be too big of a problem if they're using light weights.

QUOTE(Ripp87 @ Jun 6 2007, 11:00 PM) can i ask? is swimming effective for slimming down fast? or gym faster? or combine even better? hehe.. I read an article which said swimming doesn't burn as much calories compared to jogging cos your weight is being supported by the water. UNLESS you swim butterfly style.If you're looking at swimming as a form of cardio, then combining is definitely better. but if you're doing swimming to build muscles, uhhh... no comment. |

T_T , I have phobia when my head is totally dunk inside the water . |

well i doubt that swimming doesn't burn as much calories as jogging even though the body is supported in the water but it takes more energy to move in the water. however, we leave that conclusion to those health science. but 1 thing is clear of is that through a study, found that athlete swimmers contain more body fat than other athletes.

@Ripp87
Combine both.And of course,you also need to look into your overall diet @Canopies To a certain extent yes Body fat helps to provide energy, which is essential for endurance. @mumuz,for long term maintenance or control your bf,you need muscle.Having more muscle,helps to increase metabolism,hence you can eat more(but not binge eating) and not worry too much about fat. Im curious abt a few things...like what kind of foods are actually better..These are a list of the stuffs i mostly eat i guess..i can have some of these for breakfast/lunch/dinner..tho some of them may be really light for as a meal itself.and yeah.i know its not the typical kinda diet
Fish(any style..but mostly here as u know is fried lah.) yong tau fu Pasta/Spaghetti Instant soup Pancake(the malay type) tau fu fa Claypot yee mee Pastry/cakes/bread(dun eat much ady nowdays..i know its bad haha) Biscuits(currently loving the IKO brand wholegrain biscuit) Sushi noodle/meehun soup mamak food (chapati,naan/cheese naan) PEANUTS. I love peanuts alot and cant stop eating once i start lol but i dun think it is THAT healthy Pao.Particularly the vegetarian one Fruits.yeah i eat quite alot of fruits.. So out of this list..which one shud i avoid completely or cut down? U can certainly count in rice and noodles cause i seriously have no idea how to NOT eat those when im living in malaysia. Im staying outside and my food choices are pretty limited..and abt half of those i listed are basically wat is available here..plus mix rice,all kinds of rice with fish/chic/beef/lamb...noodles...those kind. But i would like to know which of those in the list are the better/healthier choices. Oh btw, i very very seldom touch nasi lemak,fried kuey teow,McD,kfc,pizza.Can say i only eat those once in a blue moon or during special occasions only. And i would like to ask..how much calories in a meal is considered little or moderate or alot? For eg, if a meal contains abt 300+ calories is it considered alot? And abt exercise...i go gym abt twice a week and always use the stationary bike only.they have this thing to calculate how mnuch calories burnt..is it accurate? I got do before till 500+ few times and got once 600+..sumore so tired d after that so i dun use the treadmill and other stuffs.. After eating a meal,how long should one wait before going to bed? I for one,normally set a 'timer' for 3 hours at least..but ive read sumwhere someone said 4 hours.So..curious abt that too. Sorry if im asking too much questions here..but hope i can gain some information from this and help others to do so along the way as well. Hope someone can kindly answer my questions. Fat is used as a fuel source in beta oxidation, which is the system used during long duration, low intensity cardio. During the first 18 - 25 minutes, you're still using sugar as a fuel source, but after that time passes, your body starts breaking down fat.
If you can talk but can't sing, you know you're at the right intensity. This can be walking on an incline for 30+ minutes. If you do circuit training and other more intense aerobic work, it will increase you're level of fitness, which means you're personal "low intensity work" will be at a comparatively higher level, eliciting more calories burned and effectively more weight loss. |
