I have a friend that fries his tuna with egg on a non stick pan with no oil. tastes not bad actually (he gave me some to eat tongue.gif ). beats putting in mayonaise.

Mayonaise = White devil!

carb is short for carbohydrate. Yer science teacher shd have taught yo bout carbohydrates in std 3. its stuff like flour, rice and noodles.

do cardio is short for doing cardiovascular activities. such as jogging, running, cycling, swimming, etc.

I get it already. I eat very less Carbo already , but i am still reducing weight very slowly. Any methods for losing fat more efficiency ? Maybe replacing my lunch and dinner for other food ?

1) I am 20 yrs old, weight is 95 and heigh is 170cm. BMI of 31.8
2) Diet = not sure @@
3) Exercise everyday since last 2 weeks , playing Dumbell and skipping , and sit up 10 times everyday.

Look around the pinned threads at the thop of the h&f section. lots of advice there.. no point typing it all out again. and btw, its not wise to lose too much fat too fast. a safe rate for you would be 1-2kgs/week. (i'm just guessing, i'm not a doctor.) the journey to a healthier&fitter lifestyle is meant to last a lifetime not to be done in just 2 months. there's no magic pills. so keep up the good work and read up more.

1 hours of jogging kills how many calories?
*
For me its 600+ calories. It depends on yer fitness level, age, weight, metabolism and exercise intensity. You'll need to find out how much you burn yerself le...
Its normally much less than you think it is.

QUOTE(jojoG @ May 9 2007, 09:00 AM)
been trying hard to loose some fat lately... but didn't seem to work well, but i did not grow more either.... I suppose that my diet has gone wrong... maybe I've eaten too much carb base food. But I wonder what other food source that's less in carb and high in protien? Coz all the food I've taken are usually high in protein but higher in carb. Sad...

BTW, I couldn't afford a whey product yet... quite tight in budgeting nowadays.
*
by the grow, you mean grow muscles or grow fatter?
if you mean didn't grow fatter and didn't put on weight, means you're eating at maintenance calories. you need to cut down a lil more, or say... 500-1000 calories more to lose weight. smile.gif
less carb high protein food are meats. eat skinned chicken (don't go for fried stuff), fish, beef and especially eggs.

QUOTE(metalfreak @ May 23 2007, 04:15 PM)
hehe..would like to add into the list

Age: 24
Started since this year.
January to February =  Cycling(about 20 - 30mins?)
Then started to jog  during the last week of February.

Exercise: Jog in the morning before work and also in the evening after work. Each jogging session is at least 1KM.  I do about 20 sit ups and 10 push ups from time to time(sorry..still weak in push ups..so 10 dulu smile.gif )

Waist size? from 36 to < 34 (okay okay I'll use a measuring tape soon =.= )

Weight? Was from 80KG...now around 74KG.
Food:
Breakfast - Drink(Nestum/Coffee) + Bread(fried fish fillet/sausages/butter and jam)

I usually bring bread for lunch(sometimes with fried fish fillet/ sausage/ and plain butter and jam)

I know i know....why eat fried stuff like Fish Fillet and sausages when i wanna lose weight right? haha....I dont know..I have cut down alot in the month of Mid April till now. I think 75% of the time I have been bringing bread with butter and jam.

smile.gif
*
Butter and jam is not eactly the best thing to eat when trying to lose weight as well.
Reason being that butter is fats, and jam has sugar.

btw, you mentioned, breakfast and lunch. dun eat dinner? or forgotten to mention?

Congrats on the weight loss so far tho. keep it up! rclxms.gif
if you could start working with free weights as well instead of just situps and pushups...

Exercise is one aspect to losing weight, but more importantly also is the diet. you really need to control what you eat. all the exercise in the world won't do much if your diet is not in control. And by diet, i don't mean starving yourself or only eating grass.
What i mean is, throw away the junk food! don't even buy it in the first place...
if you're not the one buying it, tell whoever it is to stop buying it. why spend money on something that makes you fat? doh.gif
spend it on something that makes you healthier instead. thumbup.gif

Btw, i know fried rice is tasty... its also my favourite... but then i think of it as fried carbohydrates... you can make do with out it.
Try reading up on some of the pinned thread on dieting.. will give you more info on whats good.

Keep up the exercises too. just cos i said diet is more important, doesn't mean you don't exercise. tongue.gif Good luck, all the best! icon_rolleyes.gif

You don't expect people to spoon feed you with information, do you? You are supposed to do YOUR OWN research before asking questions. That's how you learn.
*
I do agree with mm, most of the stuff i know is read from articles and books and what not. Its not difficult for ANYONE to do that. Newbies can just get info from the net easily.
However, i still do try to help the newbies a lil bit. If i flood them with info they'd just give up on reading it anyway or get confused. tongue.gif
So i usually just give some simple tips/concept.

can i ask? is swimming effective for slimming down fast? or gym faster? or combine even better? hehe..
*
I read an article which said swimming doesn't burn as much calories compared to jogging cos your weight is being supported by the water. UNLESS you swim butterfly style.

If you're looking at swimming as a form of cardio, then combining is definitely better. nod.gif
but if you're doing swimming to build muscles, uhhh... no comment.

QUOTE(metalfreak @ Aug 23 2007, 10:45 AM)
guys....need some advice >.<
How many scoops of whey do you use ? Like syd g...i take only during my post workout and everynight before i sleep. So far I've been taking 1 scoop only.

Does it depend on much you workout? i'm only working with dumbbells though

Also I dont take my protein shake in the morning though.

I've been reading here and there...they did advice..for non workout days....to drink 1 in the morning and 1 for prebed?
*
To answer this, you'll first need to understand why you wanna take whey protein in the first place.
Whey protein supplement is just to increase your daily protein intake. so lets say for example, you're supposed to get 150g of protein a day, and you've gotten protein from eating your normal dietary food (chicken, fish, beef, milk, whatever) up to 100g, then you might wanna take a protein shake to increase your total protein intake for that day.
but if you've ate lots of meat and drank lotsa milk already, and have met your daily required protein intake, then you don't need to drink your protein shake anymore. can save you a few bucks tongue.gif

The reason we take whey protein post workout is cos its fast absorbing compared to other sources. as muscle break-down occured during resistance training, we wanna supplement the body with quick absorbing protein to provide the body with the materials to repair the muscles ASAP.

Edit: Oh, i forgot to answer the prebed time part... some ppl take before sleeping cos the body does most of its recovery work while we're sleeping. so its only common sense to give the body the required materials to repair itself while you sleep. so lets drink away my friend! cheers.gif protein shake ftw!!

btw..I dont know whether my friend takes 1 scoop or 2 scoop for their prebed.

they take cottage cheese and peanut butter..i think..how many scoops of whey..that I dont know smile.gif

Thanks jones!

Cottage cheese is a form of casein protein.
its a slow digesting protein. to get more detailed info.. you can google it.. or wiki it.
IMO, casein protein b4 bsleep is better than whey b4 sleep.

cotatge cheese cost a bomb for RM9 for only 2 servings...
so i hardly take them. i'm taking syntha 6 now... another casein protein.
i think its about rm4 per one scoop serving... can't remember.. few cents cheaper, more protein and less fats than cottage cheese.

Anyway, even without casein protein, you can still get the results you want.. IMHO, casein just gonna help a lil bit.

1 more question . If i have go to gym frequently and i suddenly need to stop for some period, will my mussle become fat ? or i will become more fat than before ?
*
In case you dunno what that means... its:

QUOTE
Lipomoronification
The myth where people assume that fat cells and muscle cells are made of the same structure which are interchangeable.

Scenario 1:
When you're fat, and you start lifting weights, your fat turns into muscles.

Scenario 2:
I stopped weight training and my muscles have turned into fats.

Both examples shows that people assume that the muscle cells and fat cells can change from one to another. In truth, this is not so. In scenario 1, what they will see from the results of a newer exercising lifestyle matched with a suitable diet is a reduction in bodyfat and increase in muscle mass. It is not the transformation of fat into muscles. In Scenario 2, a person who stops exercising and does NOT watch his diet (eating excessively) will experience a reduction in muscle size and an increase in fat amounts. This means that one increases as the other reduces. A muscle cell cannot transform into a fat cell and neither can a fat cell transform into a muscle cell.

sauce: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipomoronification

so, to answer danilo5753, if you stop exercising, but then you continue to eat correctly, (enough protein to maintain muscles size and your total calories intake meets maintenance levels) your muscles should not shrink in size, and you would not put on weight/fats.
