Hi bro, the router antenna can be swapable with other brands? The reason i ask so is because i found the signal of the ac1750 rather weak compared with my previous asus router, before this i'm able getting full bar signal on my phone and laptop inside my bedroom with the door closed, however now with ac1750 the signal bar is fluctutated, both on 2.4ghz, i try 5ghz even worst, hardly getting full bar and sometimes signal lost, my phone auto changed to mobile 4G network. Not a good experience with this router to be honest.

I'm actually thinking buying asus 10dbi antenna to swap the default antenna for ac1750. Is it recommended?

Hey bro, sorry to hear that. I would think that Archer C7 v4 is an improved version over its older version, but it might not be the case.

I don’t think that would work. The antennae might not be compatible with the router, and if I am not mistaken, the 2.4GHz antennae is internal, and the 5GHz antennae is the one that you can swap, so even if you successfully manage to change the antennae to the 10dbi one, your 2.4GHz is still going to the same. You might get improved reception with 5GHz, if the swap is compatible, but don’t expect 2.4GHz reception to improve.

However, in saying that, did you try using a wifi analyzer to analyze the wireless network around your place? There might be interference or congestion, so I would recommend you do that and try changing the wireless channel to a channel where it is not so congested. I would recommend WiFi Analyzer from farproc if you are using an Android mobile phone or Acrylic WiFi if you are using a computer to scan for wireless networks. It is better if you use your computer as you can see more wireless networks with the more powerful wireless adapter in your computer., compared to mobile.

No worries bro. You can see interference by the number of networks around you that have the same channel as you or close to your channel, and their RSSI values, which is quite similar to your value

From what I can see, on 2.4GHz anyway, it looks quite congested with a few other channels close to your channel, especially chuan02 and sksalahahmed17. It looks worse on 5GHz, with all other channels close and far to you sharing the channel bonding of 4 same channels on 80MHz.

Since you are using Acrylic Wi Fi Professional Trial, click on your network and click on the ‘Network Quality’ Tab. There will be more information. You can stay on Channel 11 for now for 2.4GHz, as it seems to be the least congested. For 5GHz, adjust your MHz to 40 MHz and manually select Channel 149 and above.

may i know tplink planning to support VLAN tag or not for deco m5?
if no plan then i'm planning to sell my deco m5 but only 2 routers, another one i installed in my rented apartment which is using time broadband so it can connect directly.

currently at home i have to use deco as access point only and use my old asus router which keeps rebooting on it's own once a day.

i plan to buy orbi as replacement which supports all fibre broadband in malaysia.

in terms of wifi coverage i'm satisfied, 2 deco are more than enough for double storey house. 3 are overkill.

I wonder if the Orbi actually support VLAN tagging?

Anyway, from what I know, they are working on VLAN compatibility on the Deco. A workaround would be to use a VLAN switch and trunk VLAN 500 to Deco but you will lose HyppTV. Not ideal but that's the best solution right now.

OMG, I should read this thread before I buy!!!
I just bought a new TP Link Archer C1200 V3 router last week via online, ard RM300, and just received few days ago, use 3 days now, feel wanna cry....

I am using Maxis home Fibre, previously come with technicolor tg784n, I am tired with the default router, always reconnect wireless, bad coverage....that is why I plan to replace it during 1111 online sales....

I saw this C1200 is new version than C5, though new will be better, but now I regret.

so far 3 major issue,
1) auto reboot randomly ( I guess u guy know this)
2) connected device suddenly lost connection, and reconnection fail with incorrect password error....I can login to router via LAN, the wifi password same, nobody change it, after restart router without update anything, everything work..
3) router hang, all device not able to connect to router including LAN. restart solve.

So far I use 3 days, I cant remember how many times I manually restart router, and sometime it will help me auto reboot....this is really worse than default router...

So far any solution ?

Try this firmware, it is a little more stable. Moreover, you can manually enable Beamforming feature on this router. I have tried this firmware, currently it is working great with UniFi. However, the router still does randomly reboot when all of the clients are consuming high volume of internet speed. I have set the LED light indicator to off and it does help a little bit, at least it doesn't randomly reboot that often.

Just one question, are you currently on Maxis Fibre? If you are, the TP-Link W8961N will never be able to connect as it is a modem router and not a router only, and is meant for Streamyx connections anyway, and I am sure it does not support VLAN tagging. See here for a list of TP-Link routers that support Maxis Fibre:

Would like to know, what did you set for VPI and VCI?
Normal setting should be VPI = 0 VCI = 35
