Contract is not entitled to increment unless it is specified explicitly in your contract. Same with bonus (if the clasue say up to management discretion, then they can always say that no bonus because Management did not agree and there's nothing you can say about it). Staff development will also be prioritized to permanent staff so that's another issue. As for medical benefits, that also will need to be specified in the contract.

I don't think they will release you to PCSB easy. It is the same case for me where I was recruited for PRSB and I wanted to go to PCSB and there is people in PCSB who want me but I can't go unless PRSB is willing to release me.

It is difficult for OPU who request you to release since they are also short of people. Unless they recruite you for suka2.

They will tell you in Petronas there is mobility between OPUs. But for my case there is no such thing. Welcome to Petronas.

There is such a thing bro. Been there, done that. You are still new, walk the ladder slowly. Do not run, yet.

But for that to materialize u need;
first - to syndicate with your immediate supervisor, let him/her know of your intention so that he/she will support you up to GM/SGM level of approval, get concurrence;
second - find a place that you are REALLY interested to go, not just for the sake of suka-suka. Meet the bosses and tell them of your intention, get concurrence;
subject to first & second - go tell the HR, meet them personally so that you can explain your case. Their understanding is important to push thru your application.

However its a delicate issue not only in PETRONAS but anywhere in the world. Human management is important. Learn the trade and u might get your chance one day, some day.

Now I am loving my job, I don't bother much about the salary, my off-on-shore time, my working hours time, my travelling distance to-back-office, all because of - I love my job.

To the others out there, believe me PETRONAS is a good organization, not perfect tho, as there are still much room for improvement. You may suffer for that 20% of your whole tenure there, but trust me that remainder 80% of good experience will make up to most of it.

Hey carolee1209, I attended the SI today and I asked is there any other stage after this and she said no; this is the last one before I will be informed whether I'm recommended or not. They said I can give them a call after a week to know the status of the interview. Overall it was okay, I think for me it was more like a discussion. Since a lot of people have been sharing their experience, I might as well share mine .  biggrin.gif

My interview was scheduled at 10am but I've to wait for the person before me to finish his session. 2 hours after that I was called. My assessors were very friendly. Me myself, I'm pretty talkative so I managed to leave my stress and nerves outside the door. Oh forgot to mention that the case study I was given was about customer dissatisfaction. There's only like 5 paragraph if I'm not mistaken. I had an hour to prepare for my ideas but lucky me while I was on board yesterday I read my school (LOL school? in the US they called college/university= school) book about how to manage a business, so it really helped a lot. I wrote on a piece of paper about my ideas, pros, cons, long and short terms solutions, examples. I came out with several examples to strengthen my opinion but ended up didn't use any of them. Reading a lot will help you this. But I believe it was more about how you think. How do you come out with a solution? Are you systematic? Be confident and firm on your decision/proposal. They challenged me with lots of arguments. I'm surprised at myself, I didn't panic (I'm a very gelabah person actually HAHAH). Before the case study discusion, there's a ice breaking about background, schools, majors, strength, weaknesses etc. Basic stuffs that you don't need to prepare much.

Then onto CBI, they asked me about 2 things. 1) Any challenge you have faced before and how you deal with it. They gave me time to think for a while. I was prepared for this question actually (gotten by reading the whole tread and googling about petronas interview questions). They asked me to explain every detail of the story.  Then 2) Learning on fly. Describe something that you've to pick up fast; something that is really new for you and you need to master it in a short time. It was more like a story telling imho hehe.

The last one is role play. I was  given two cards. I heard they just want to do one card (I think they're hungry because we all haven't had our lunch yet so they wanna finish soon). But in the end I had to do two cards. Some people say the more cards you get the better you're doing but some say the opposite. I think how many cards are given doesn't give any indication of how your performance is. It's all depends on the interviewers, only the know (of course). I was a manager, then the directors gave us a project that we need to complete it within 3 days. Two of my workers didn't want to stay back because they had other important commitments. I think I didn't do quite well..so they gave me the second card. This time I got into the game and acted well (ahah or so I think). Basically, this part you're in charged, you can create any situation you wish for based on what they said. They argued with me, challenged me, but I just stayed calm. Empathy is the key here. As a manager I told them that it is important for me to reach out to my staffs. Since my staffs are burden with lots of works in 3 days, I told the interviewers that it is important for me to always concern about their (staff) condition. I would call all of them for a meeting to update on the progress and at the same time listen to their problems. Let them release their stress..share the problem among ourselves and be positive. So when everyone goes out of the meeting room, there will be less pressure. Hence, increase the productivity.

I asked them a question; what motivates them to go to work everyday? Omagerd I'm happy that I ask them because they give me insight of how a working world is. Very interesting. One of the interviewer gave me a lot of advises. They talked about their work for almost 15minutes. hahah so I just listened and nodded.

Overall, alhamdulillah I think I did okay. I hope I'll get a good news but I'm very satisfied with my own performance, and thats all matters to me. Perhaps I should have read and remember more of Petronas's story to show them that I'm very interested in their company. I didn't give any example from Petronas when I'm defending my ideas. So guys, please read about Petronas more than I did and tell them about what you know. Everyone I know who had done an interview will tell me to just be myself. Yes that's absolutely true. Just be yourself and everything will flow naturally.Hmm what else..oh yea, the assessors are flexible in language. They spoke rojak to me haha..
So good luck to anyone if you happen to have an upcoming interview. smile.gif

That's right, pls negotiate hard with HR to include these in your Employment Contract. Mine finally arrived after 9 months waiting after SI session. It's a long journey I would say, have to repeat my medical check up (due to high cholesterol level).

For those who've similar problem pls PM me on how to reduce your cholesterol level in shortest time from 7.X to 5.2 (1 month only haha icon_rolleyes.gif ). Even my AME also not confident I can achieve this result within time period given by HR. Looking forward to report for duty early next year.

Tower 1 here i come!! rclxm9.gif Peace

"Having brought someone in from Esso Malaysia to replace him as president, Shamsul has been preparing to get into the chairman’s job."

Anyone can share about the current politic in Petronas higher management?

I think it's only a rumor. Chairman's chair has just been filled by the then top government servant. To think that Shamsul is eyeing the position is nonsense. If he lets go the ceo position he's holding now, he wont be appointed as chairman in return, at least for now.

If there's someone who feel that he's in the hot seat right now, it should be the idiot who implemented the no inter marriage policy in petronas.

Hi. I'm an IT(Multimedia) student. looking for a place to do my internship at Petronas.

Does anyone knows which Petronas Group of Companies suit for me, interms of my majoring.

But then, i dont think that i will further into multimedia after this.i'm more into IT management.

For the sake of my graduation requirement, i have to do my internship
at any company with at least 50% involving multimedia elements.

I don't. I personally think he screwed up big time during his tenure especialy in terms of staff retention. It was during his watch that close to 2000 (two thousand) skilled personnel in the Upstream side (especially subsurface) left the company. His insistence of paying everyone the same (HR/Finance etc) was shortsighted to say the least.

Only 2 weeks in petronas, already wanna quit.
Unless the next company u wanna join is paying you a high salary for you to workout your personal loan installment to payback petronas.
If not, I don't see your point of leaving and get into debt

Just my 2 cents

This is what we call in Malay, PETRONAS like SANGKAR EMAS

Burung di luar teringan nak masuk,
Burung di dalam teringin nak keluar bebas,

Conclusion both are trapped.

I have seen a lot of people from UTP did this,mostly borrowing money from parents,relatives and bank,but personal loan is mostly limited to 5x of your basic.Unless u got a lucrative job such as FE in SLB ,working outside the country under international mobile,in which case u will be able to pay within 6 month
if u are good in saving up the money,if not,I would really discourage doing this as it could not be worth it to be in a huge debt early on your working life.
