I dunno why people like working in Petronas, maybe because of the famous KLCC or what no so sure. I think this company was underpaid unless you are blue ocean eyes of the company. There are lot of people hardworking get the rating 3 and 4 but the selected employees normally geng boss will get the rating 1 or 2.

When I was interviewed with Petronas they said they will pay my salary lower than SapuraKencana and asked me to accept because I want to work for national company. What a shame. Then i decided not to continue looking any jobs with this local company.

Well I beg to differ. For me personally its totally the oposite, SapuraCrest (before the merger) is hell lot more biased when giving ratings to staff (which will affect your bonus, obviously). At least in Petronas they go to the PDC sitting committee of which all the bosses shall discuss, scrutinize their staffs performance and get agreement (except the unpopular force ranking, M3 which comes later after that, process-wise). For Sapura your boss will have the ultimatum and this method will work best only with fair & honest bosses. Not to mention without any buttkissing staffs (which is a lot, btw).

Snap back to reality today, I believe Petronas is paying lot more for fresh grad than so called "not local company". Not to mention the increment after 1 year (for Tier 1 or 2 execs). I know its lot more than what SapuraKencana is paying for their freshies.

This is all from my humble experience.

P/s: Btw did u get the offer? How much are they offering you, personally?

I don't think they will release you to PCSB easy. It is the same case for me where I was recruited for PRSB and I wanted to go to PCSB and there is people in PCSB who want me but I can't go unless PRSB is willing to release me.

It is difficult for OPU who request you to release since they are also short of people. Unless they recruite you for suka2.

They will tell you in Petronas there is mobility between OPUs. But for my case there is no such thing. Welcome to Petronas.

There is such a thing bro. Been there, done that. You are still new, walk the ladder slowly. Do not run, yet.

But for that to materialize u need;
first - to syndicate with your immediate supervisor, let him/her know of your intention so that he/she will support you up to GM/SGM level of approval, get concurrence;
second - find a place that you are REALLY interested to go, not just for the sake of suka-suka. Meet the bosses and tell them of your intention, get concurrence;
subject to first & second - go tell the HR, meet them personally so that you can explain your case. Their understanding is important to push thru your application.

However its a delicate issue not only in PETRONAS but anywhere in the world. Human management is important. Learn the trade and u might get your chance one day, some day.

Now I am loving my job, I don't bother much about the salary, my off-on-shore time, my working hours time, my travelling distance to-back-office, all because of - I love my job.

To the others out there, believe me PETRONAS is a good organization, not perfect tho, as there are still much room for improvement. You may suffer for that 20% of your whole tenure there, but trust me that remainder 80% of good experience will make up to most of it.
